Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 096: Lockdown Order

Without wasting any time, Loran replenished his arrows and immediately went to rejoin his teammates.

The group worked quickly and soon had all their equipment ready.

However, Ke Linwen brought bad news.

"Guys, it seems we can't buy any more transportation," Lin Wen said with a serious expression.

Loran and the others were startled. "What?"

The group went to another stable and asked the owner if they could rent a carriage, but the owner refused.

The shopkeeper said helplessly, "I'm sorry, adventurers, the lord has ordered that carriages are temporarily unavailable for rent these days. They will be open again in a few days. However, you can pay a deposit in advance to reserve them. Once the lord lifts the restrictions, you can set off immediately."

"You'd better hurry, many adventurers have already booked the carriages, and if you're any later, they might be gone."

Noah was somewhat taken aback and asked in disbelief, "The lord ordered a restriction on carriage travel a few days ago? But... why? Isn't this a town primarily focused on trade? Why would they restrict carriages?"

"There's been some activity going on in Hama Town lately. It seems there are suspicious people in the town, so we need to wait for the results before allowing carriages to pass. Of course, this is just hearsay and not accurate," the boss said, shrugging.

Loran and his companions were somewhat frustrated, but they didn't give up. They went to several stables in succession, and all they heard was the same story...

"Without a carriage, even though Falling Rock Town is a long way away, we still have to go back for safety reasons. Let's go, let's leave the town!" Lin Wen made a resolute decision; they couldn't stay here any longer.

Everyone agreed that this made sense; even walking back would be safer than staying in Hama Town.

As they approached the town gate and were about to leave, they were stopped by the town's guards.

Lin Wen was taken aback, and asked in confusion, "What...do you mean?"

The guard said calmly, "Excuse me, gentlemen, you need to show your identification. For the next few days, you are not allowed to leave Hama Town freely without the lord's permission."

Then Loran saw a group of adventurers slowly walking into the town from outside, and the guards did not stop them.

"Then...why were they allowed in?" Loran asked suspiciously.

The guard said very seriously, "They came in from outside; we only restrict their freedom to go out."

The group of adventurers who had just entered overheard this conversation and immediately turned back, glaring at them. "Hey, hey, hey, what's going on? You mean we can't get out? No, no, no, just pretend we never came in!"

As soon as they finished speaking, the group of adventurers turned around and left.

But they were stopped by the guards' sharp weapons. "I'm sorry, sir, I'm afraid I cannot let you leave."

"You! Does your Clamshell Town really intend to be so domineering? We are adventurers, do you want to provoke a conflict with the Adventurers' Guild?"

The guard said coldly, "Sir, I'm sorry I can't answer your question. All the arrangements were made by the lord, and we are subordinate to him."

This adventurer seemed to have a rather formidable temper. Seeing the guard's arrogant demeanor, he was truly enraged. He drew his longsword and snarled, "Then don't blame me for challenging your rules!"

Just then, a loud bang was heard in the sky, and a bolt of lightning crashed down!

"boom!"

A shocking mark of electricity appeared in front of the adventurer.

The adventurer who had drawn his sword froze on the spot, too afraid to move. Such a powerful spell must have been cast by a skilled mage...

"Adventurer, please cooperate with the work of our Clam Town. If everyone acts recklessly like you, wouldn't the town's order be thrown into chaos?" An elderly mage walked over calmly and said with a smile.

The adventurer could only manage a forced smile, nodding and bowing, "Yes, yes, yes, as adventurers, of course we have to maintain order! We have some things to attend to, so we'll be going now!"

After saying that, the adventurer led his party members into Clam Town in a sorry state.

The arrogance on the guards' faces grew even stronger, which was the source of their confidence.

Finita swallowed hard. Compared to her, a half-baked mage, this old guy really had something substantial to offer.

Loran and the others' expressions turned grim. Loran, forcing a smile, asked, "Then...isn't there any other way for us to get out?"

The elderly mage chuckled and said, "Young man, didn't I say that as long as you have the permission of the Zeya nobles, you can pass. Write down your reason for leaving, submit the application, and we will have someone to handle it."

The group remained silent, and having no other choice, had to leave for the time being.

"Could it have been the steward? The lord only just received this news, it shouldn't have been that quick... Besides, shouldn't the lord have sent reinforcements to Inada Village after receiving the news? Why did he lock us up...?"

Lin Wen said, puzzled, that she couldn't understand the reason.

"Let's go to the tavern and find out what's going on. It might be difficult to force our way in now, but we might have a chance tonight. Also, let's see if we can see Baron Zeya again and ask him to let us out," Loran suggested.

"Well, that's all we can do for now."

The group sat in the tavern for a while, and this time, Loran unexpectedly took the initiative to inquire about information.

Having experience in asking around, Loran didn't seek out other adventurers, but instead went directly to the tavern's bartender, which was the most efficient method.

Lorraine ordered a slightly expensive drink, and the bartender immediately began mixing it with great enthusiasm.

"Please wait a moment, sir, I will let you taste the fragrance of Carslant."

"Then I will savor it." Loran smiled slightly, then shook his head. "Alone in this foreign land, only wine can dispel my sorrows."

The bartender looked at Loran curiously. "Oh? You must be a future adventurer. That's quite normal. But our town also has unique scenery, such as the beautiful view along the Zeya River."

"I believe it would be a very meaningful thing for you to bring what you have seen and heard back to your hometown."

Loran agreed, "Indeed, that's why I became an adventurer. It's just that my mission is complete, but I can't go back for the time being... I don't know when I'll be able to get out."

Upon hearing this, the bartender realized what was going on and smiled, saying, "You're referring to the recent decree issued by the lord, right? It seems there's some kind of situation in the town, so outsiders can enter Clam Town, but they need the nobles' approval to leave."

"In fact, I have met many adventurers like you who are very distressed by this regulation. However, there are rumors that the regulation will be amended soon, and then you will be able to go home."

Loran pressed further, "When was this regulation issued?"

"It was probably... a few days ago, I can't quite remember."
