Archer's Adventure Manual
Chapter 106: Immersive Learning
"Thank you for reminding me, I'll keep that in mind. Thompson, are you interested in this kind of monster?" Loran asked curiously.
Thompson waved his hand. "I don't think I'm interested, and I don't intend to touch anything dangerous, lest I bring trouble upon myself..."
"Oh? Then runes won't be so troublesome?" Loran joked.
"Runes...runes are a different story!" Thompson said with a serious expression.
"If there's nothing else to ask, I'm going to do my experiments. The strange things happening to Brian might give me some different ideas!"
"Finally, let me give you a piece of advice: don't underestimate your opponents. Even if the adventurers seem to have an unlimited advantage, no one can predict the final outcome!" Thompson warned in the end.
He then went straight to his small room to ponder the runes that he didn't know when he would finally see some results.
"This guy is really persistent..." Loran thought to himself.
Loran led Brian away from the antique shop, his thoughts racing. It seemed that these monsters with two different characteristics had appeared suddenly and had not existed before.
Given this, Loran couldn't help but worry about some things. Since these monsters appeared out of nowhere, could they be related to that guy—the headless monster?
That monster possesses immense power; it probably wouldn't be too difficult for him to do something like this.
If the monster wanted to destroy the village, why would it go to such great lengths?
Loran shook his head. These wild guesses seemed completely unfounded, so he could only take it one step at a time.
He has an important task to complete upon his return: learning magic arrows! This will prevent a repeat of the situation where running out of arrows leaves him defenseless in battle...
Loran arrived at the training camp, where Lena was teaching her students and did not notice Loran's presence.
Loran found a seat in the training camp's reading room. He looked at the various books on the shelves, thought for a moment, and then picked up a book about the basics of magic to read.
To be honest, Loran was not a good student who loved studying. Even in schools on Earth, he would slack off whenever he could, making him a natural-born student who was resistant to studying.
But now, he seems to have developed a bit of interest in the knowledge of magic in this world. Since Instructor Lena is still busy, there's no harm in taking a look at this knowledge book.
Loran idly flipped through the book. The contents seemed unremarkable, consisting of very basic things, but they were still somewhat novel to Loran.
After looking at it for a while longer, Loran's heart calmed down, and he became immersed in the contents of the book.
"Survival Guide: The 'Shadow of Death' talent makes your mind more focused."
"Survival Guide: Your understanding of magic has improved."
"Survival Guide: Your understanding of magic has improved. | Unlock the skill 'Flash'"
Flash Spell Lv.1 (Can be unlocked for 20 Adventure Points): Releases a flash of light that illuminates the surrounding environment, causing some degree of blindness to creatures.
After what seemed like an eternity, Loran finally came to his senses. He stared blankly at the book, muttering incredulously, "I... I can get so engrossed in a book? Are you kidding me!"
At the same time, Loran noticed the guidance in the adventure manual, paused for a moment, and then realized that it was the effect of the Shadow of Death.
Indeed, the Shadow of Death has the effect of increasing mental strength. I may have overlooked this small bonus before, but I didn't expect it to also improve concentration.
This led even Loran, who was usually unwilling to study, to immerse himself in reading, and the results were quite remarkable; he even unlocked the Flash spell.
As Finita is a mage among his companions, Loran naturally felt regretful for not being able to unlock her spells. But now, reading has actually accelerated this process, allowing it to be realized.
Loran looked towards the shooting range and found that Instructor Lena was no longer teaching the students. He looked back and saw that Instructor Lena was teaching the students their homework.
Loran was immediately delighted and waited quietly to see if Lena would finish teaching the student.
Lena turned around and saw Loran waiting there. She was slightly surprised. "Loran? What brings you here? I don't think this is your training time... if I'm not mistaken."
"Indeed, you're not mistaken, I came here to ask Instructor Lena for advice," Loran explained.
Lena's eyes widened in surprise, and she asked curiously, "Oh? What is it that you'd like to ask me?"
Loran voiced his concerns, "Instructor Lena, to be honest, I encountered a very troublesome problem when I went on an adventure, and that is the number of arrows."
"I thought I had brought enough arrows, but after an unexpected incident, I ran out of arrows. After that, I lost most of my fighting ability. Without arrows, my archery skills naturally couldn't improve..."
Lena nodded slightly, indicating her understanding, and said, "This is indeed a rather tricky problem. The limitations of archers largely stem from the limited number of arrows they have."
"Even if you carry a lot of arrows, you'll eventually run out. Making arrows in the wild is very difficult. A better way is..."
Lena hesitated, wondering whether to speak, but Loran answered directly, "Magic arrows!"
Lena shook her head helplessly. She had probably already guessed what Loran was thinking and said bluntly, "Loran, the threshold for mastering magic arrows is very high. This means that you not only need to be proficient in using skills, but you also need something crucial: mastering magic."
"Mastering magic... is not something that can be done in a short time."
Loran nodded earnestly. "I understand all of that, Instructor Lena, but this is very important to me. I think I must master magic arrows. I can start by learning the most basic magic knowledge!"
Lena thought for a moment and nodded slightly. "If you want to try, I think that's fine too. I'll recommend some relevant books to you. These are things you need to learn, so you can take your time! You know how long it took Finita to learn all that complicated magical knowledge..."
Loran looked at Lena expectantly, "Instructor Lena, may I see you cast the magic arrow again? I really want to experience it up close!"
"Hmm, no problem. It's a good thing to let you see what magic arrows are like in advance."
The two then arrived outside the shooting range. Lena took out her bow and said casually, "Come on, I'll demonstrate for you!"
