Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 108: The Strange Man

In Luoyan Town, people are filled with anxiety, and the events in Daotian Village have recently become known to more and more people.

The lord actively took measures, cooperating with the Adventurers' Guild and issuing batches of rewards, all in an effort to maintain the current situation and investigate the monster's movements.

However, the Adventurers' Guild has not yet discovered any particularly strange events in the surrounding area. They can only increase their efforts in monster extermination commissions and have adventurers search for clues during their adventures.

The Adventurers' Guild manager, the white-bearded old man Dylant, was also extremely anxious at this moment.

He was discussing this matter with Baron Warren at that moment.

"Everyone is well aware that our territory is fraught with danger, but currently, we lack a clear objective, such as directly attacking the monsters' lair... We don't have that kind of intelligence!"

"In that case, even if we mobilize adventurers to carry out missions one by one, the effect won't be very good, and we might end up wasting our energy on the wrong things..."

"It seems that there is no better way to deal with this crisis than to have adventurers investigate the monster horde while carrying out the existing quests they can issue."

Dylant voiced his concerns: the current situation was that the monsters that launched the attack were lurking in the shadows, while they were in the open.

Even if they wanted to use the adventurers' power to deplete the monster's strength, they couldn't find a suitable opportunity.

Baron Warren nodded slightly. "That is indeed a considerable challenge. But I'm curious, how does such a large monster race manage to survive without stealing or robbing, unless they are self-sufficient?"

"Many of the goblins we encounter on a daily basis raid villages because they lack food and slaves, which naturally leaves clues, allowing us to eliminate them before they become a threat."

"But now, Mr. Dylant, don't you find it incredibly absurd that such a large cluster, capable of destroying a village, has appeared without revealing the slightest flaw?"

Dylan was also stunned. After thinking about it carefully, he realized that it made sense. However, he also retorted, "But this matter happened within the jurisdiction of Hama Town. Whether this situation actually occurred or not, and whether there was a middleman deliberately concealing it, these factors could all lead to bad results."

"We can't rule out the existence of these factors. The administrators of Hama Town aren't stupid. There are no secrets in the world that can't be kept. We still need to prepare for the worst..."

"If the enemy hides and reveals themselves, besides finding them, we also have a plan to make them show themselves!"

Dylan was taken aback. "Let the enemy reveal themselves?"

......

Lorraine and Brian finished their training session for the day, and he prepared to visit Mrs. Juno, since Lena had been teaching him through Juno's connections.

The training time granted by this relationship might be a bit too long, and Lorraine felt that she was taking advantage of the situation, so she decided to patronize Mrs. Juno's business in return.

"Brian, you must be polite when you see Mrs. Juno! Got it!" Lorraine reminded him.

Brian nodded seriously. "Woof! Got it!"

Brian wagged its tail and walked briskly beside Loran, but just as it was walking along, a hooded person passed by.

The hooded man emitted a slightly unpleasant odor that was difficult for ordinary people to detect or distinguish, but Brian's keen nose was able to pinpoint it precisely.

Brian frowned and patted Loran's trouser leg with his tail.

Loran paused slightly, looking down at Brian's strange expression, and noticing that Brian kept glancing at the hooded man who had just walked by.

Lorraine immediately realized that Brian must have discovered something.

So, without making a sound, Loran and Brian followed.

The hooded man crossed the street, looked around, and then disappeared into an alley.

Loran followed closely behind and soon spotted the hooded man at the corner of the alley. He was leaning against the wall, humming softly.

"Ugh... Ugh~" Although the hooded man's expression was not visible, his voice suggested that he was in great pain.

Loran quietly hid around the corner, only peeking out a tiny bit of her eye to look at the man.

The hooded man stretched out one hand, while the other hand gripped his trembling outstretched hand tightly.

The light was dim, but Loran could still vaguely see that his outstretched hand had sharp teeth sticking out!

Yes, it's truly unbelievable that a monster's teeth could grow on a man's arm!

The hooded man let out increasingly agonizing groans, and after an unknown amount of time, his painful moans stopped, and the teeth in his hands slowly disappeared.

His arm eventually recovered completely and was no different from that of an ordinary person.

Loran knew he couldn't watch any longer, so he quickly left with Brian.

Loran finally breathed a sigh of relief when he reached a relatively safe place. He looked around and made sure he hadn't been discovered.

He never expected that there would be such a guy in Rockfall Town, whose hands could grow monster teeth. Could such a function really be done by an ordinary adventurer?

"Brian, why were you suspicious of him at first?" Loran asked curiously. After all, this guy seemed no different from a normal person at first. How did Brian figure him out?

Brian said earnestly, "Because I smelled a truly repulsive odor on him. Oh, I'll never forget that smell! It's that peculiar odor that only those monsters have!"

Loran was taken aback. "You mean, the smell of goblins or kobolds?"

"No, none of those. It's that kind of thing that looks a bit like a kobold and a bit like a goblin. It has a very unique smell!" Brian explained.

"The unique scent of Doghead Forest?" Loran was shocked; a terrible thought suddenly occurred to him.

Judging from the teeth that just grew from that guy's arm... isn't this a fusion of the characteristics of two different creatures?

Perhaps the mastermind behind this has already extended their reach to Rockfall Town...

Loran believed that there was definitely more than just one strange man he had seen in Rockfall. If he could see one, it likely meant that many such strange people had infiltrated the town!
