Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 109: Old Smith's Gift

"Fellow townspeople, Lord Warren will be holding a grand wedding in seven days. Mr. Mark Warren and his wife will be walking down the aisle. The generous lord will provide plenty of inexpensive food, available at various shops, so everyone can share in the joy of this celebratory occasion!"

Rows of soldiers and civilians walked the streets, constantly announcing the important events that would happen in seven days.

The residents and shop owners were overjoyed to hear the news, because the lord really does give out benefits on a wedding day like this!

While providing merchants with affordable and delicious food, the merchants can also make some profit from it, and the residents are happy to buy this food.

Therefore, after hearing the news, everyone spread the word.

Lorraine arrived at Mrs. Juno's grocery store and found that several advertising boards had already been put up in the store.

The gist of it is that Mr. Mark Warren's wedding will take place in seven days.

"Hey, Loran, what brings you here?" Juno was quite surprised to see Loran appear.

"Mrs. Juno, I'm back from my adventure, so I thought I'd come see you. What brings you here...?"

Juno smiled knowingly and explained, "This is a promotional tool for the nobles. As long as I post it here, I can get money. How about that? Not bad, right? The nobles get to save face, and I get benefits too. I really hope there will be more good things like this."

"I see, nobles are indeed very concerned about saving face," Loran agreed.

"I heard from Lena that you've been improving a lot lately, not bad at all, kid. You have good talent. Keep practicing with Lena, she has a lot of amazing skills."

Mrs. Juno said with a smile.

"Yes, I have been studying Lena's knowledge very diligently, and I am also very grateful to you, Mrs. Juno. Without your introduction, I would not have been able to find such a good mentor," Lorraine said gratefully.

Juno waved her hand dismissively, saying, "It's alright, you deserve it. That guy Thompson has taken advantage of you so much, this is all justified. Come on, don't just stand there, come in and sit down."

Lorraine entered Juno's grocery store.

"Mrs. Juno, you look very energetic and show no signs of aging," Lorraine said with a smile.

Juno chuckled and shook her head, sighing, "Hey, people always get old, there's nothing you can do about it. In my prime, I always dreamed of doing something earth-shattering, but looking back now, even if I had accomplished those things, those best years would have quietly slipped away and never come back..."

"Yes, no matter how many gold coins we have, we can't buy back time. All we can do is cherish the present," Loran wholeheartedly agreed.

Loran and Juno talked for a while, and then Loran began to select some materials he wanted to buy in Juno's shop.

This time, Loran plans to make a more powerful knife for self-defense, like the dagger Lin Wen used.

Choosing suitable wood for the dagger handle, and then going to Old Smith to find a better piece of steel, are both excellent options.

After some conversation, Juno grew to appreciate the young man even more, and offered Loran very reasonable prices.

With the materials for the dagger chosen, the next step was the arrows. He found it difficult to be satisfied with the arrows made in Clam Town; he would only feel at ease with arrows made here.

After careful selection, Loran finally managed to buy all the materials.

Before leaving, Loran reminded Juno, "Mrs. Juno, Rockfall Town may not be very peaceful lately, for reasons you probably already know. Please be sure to protect yourself."

Juno smiled slightly and nodded, saying, "Don't worry, thank you, little one."

After selecting the materials, Lorraine went to Old Smith's blacksmith shop.

Old Smith was as busy as ever, but he stopped what he was doing as soon as he saw Lorraine arrive.

"Hey, Lorraine, long time no see! I have some good news to tell you!" Old Smith said excitedly.

Loran was taken aback, and for a moment he remembered what Old Smith had said earlier.

Seeing Lorraine's expression, Old Smith didn't keep him in suspense any longer. He grasped Lorraine's arms and said happily, "Your recurve bow design has gained a lot of favor. Recently, we've had a lot of orders for recurve bows!"

Old Smith gestured for Lorraine to look, and Lorraine looked over and found that there were indeed many recurve bow samples in Old Smith's blacksmith shop.

"It's nothing really. Even if I didn't offer this idea, someone else would have brought it up eventually," Loran said with a smile.

Old Smith didn't say much, but reached into his pocket and took out a few gleaming gold coins. "Lorraine, don't say anything more, these gold coins are well-deserved! I'm only able to get these orders now thanks to you."

"These gold coins also include the money that nobleman paid to have a bow and arrows custom-made for him. Please accept them!"

Looking at Old Smith's sincere expression, Lorraine was also very hesitant.

Ultimately, I didn't want to let them down. Besides, how could I expect them to accept the order without paying?

So, Loran reluctantly accepted the gold coins.

Then, it was no problem at all for those who wanted to ask Old Smith to forge arrows; Old Smith readily agreed and didn't require Loran to pay any money.

Old Smith suddenly remembered something and quickly said, "Oh right, Loran, I mentioned you to that nobleman before. He asked who designed this bow, and I told him. He said he would like to invite you to participate in the archery competition at the manor."

"Hey, let me tell you, this archery competition isn't something just anyone can participate in. You have to be recommended by someone within the nobility. I think this is a good opportunity, why don't you give it a try?"

"An archery competition?" Loran was surprised; he hadn't expected such a thing. He thought for a moment and then asked, "Approximately how often does this archery competition take place?"

"I heard him say it should be soon, right, it's about seven days from now, which is the day Mark Warren is getting married, and this archery competition is one of the events on that day!"

"It's said that the rewards for achieving a certain ranking in archery competitions are extremely generous!"

"The rewards are generous?" Loran's eyes lit up. Participating in this archery competition wouldn't be a bad idea after all...
