Chapter 129: The Wolf-Headed Monster
When Luo Lan, Lin Wen, and the others saw this scene, they all swallowed hard. This guy... actually transformed himself into something that was neither human nor ghost.
All of this was done by the "god" behind him, and Loran and the others had already experienced the power of this god.
Back in Inada Village, they had encountered that group of half-knives and half-goblins; it seemed these were all the work of that "god"...
So their enemy is a god? Of course, that's just the arrogant self-proclaimed title the mastermind has given, but the power he's displayed is truly astonishing.
"So, how do we become His followers?" Loran asked, not in a hurry.
"It's very simple. As long as you accept His transformation, you can become His most loyal believers." Jasper took out several bottles of potions from his hand, containing a stagnant red substance.
Jasper brandished the potion in his hand. "Come, accept God's transformation, and let our frail human bodies ascend!"
After saying that, Jasper slowly walked towards Lorraine, while Thompson and Juno's faces were filled with unease.
Lin Wen and the others were on tenterhooks, looking at Loran with worried expressions. Loran gave them a reassuring look, then stepped off the carriage and walked towards Jasper.
Lorraine understood that there was probably no room for negotiation.
Jasper approached Lorraine, handed her the vial of potion, and smiled broadly. "You made the right choice."
"I'm distributing these potions to my teammates; I can't keep such good stuff to myself." Loran took the potions and put them into his backpack.
"certainly!"
The instant Loran put away the potion, he decisively made his move, drawing his dagger and instantly unleashing his Lv.2 Steel Slash!
Jasper was clearly caught off guard by Lorraine's sudden attack and hastily used his arm to block!
The powerful cutting damage instantly swept towards the scales on Jasper's arm, but it failed to cut through them, only causing relatively strong impact damage to Jasper.
Jasper retreated repeatedly, and several arrows came flying towards his head!
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!" Three arrows pierced Jasper's arm, which he had used to block, penetrating his scales and entering his flesh. Crimson blood dripped onto the ground.
"Let's go!"
Everyone whipped the horses to increase the speed of the carriage and rush in one direction. Since they had turned against each other, they might as well go all the way!
Brian came to meet Lorraine, and Lorraine rode on Brian's back while drawing his bow and shooting at Jasper behind them.
Jasper was also finding it quite difficult to deal with arrows that possessed piercing power; his arm was riddled with holes, and blood was flowing freely...
"I originally thought that after experiencing the tragedy of Inada Village, you would understand the power of the gods and obediently become His followers, but your current performance is simply too disappointing!" Jasper roared.
Immediately, dark figures emerged from the hidden bushes, chasing after Loran and his companions' carriage.
"Lorraine, come on up!" Thompson helped Lorraine onto the carriage, and Brian also jumped onto the carriage.
Mrs. Juno kept whipping the horses to make them go faster.
"What on earth is going on? Why are there such strange guys near Rockfall Town!" Thompson exclaimed, blowing his beard and glaring.
"Forget about all that! We need to get out of here right now! Thompson, show me what tricks you have up your sleeve, I know you're full of schemes!" Lorraine shouted.
As Lin Wen and Finita watched the group of monsters approach step by step, almost catching up with the carriage, Finita activated her magic, and a white ball of light shot out.
The ball of light exploded amidst the charging monsters, unleashing a dazzling light that halted their advance.
During the shooting, Loran also saw what the monsters looked like. They had wolf heads and green bodies, walked upright, were quite tall, and their bodies were covered with red scales.
"How many kinds of monsters are pieced together to form this monster?" Loran was shocked. Fortunately, the arrows were still effective against such flesh and blood.
Unfortunately, the number of monsters has gradually increased, and the number of monsters lurking in the shadows is a terrifying number for Loran and his companions.
Even a hundred monsters would be enough to overwhelm them all. Loran, who has the best ranged attack power, is just an archer, and Finita is just an early-stage mage who cannot yet achieve a relatively stable and powerful AOE range output.
After Jasper pulled out the arrows that Lorraine had left in his arm, the wound on his arm healed rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye. He looked at Lorraine and the others with a fierce expression.
"Deception is never a good thing for either of us!"
Jasper rushed forward at lightning speed, his target Lorraine who had just ambushed him.
Loran saw Jasper's figure gradually approaching and quickly drew his bow and shot, barely managing to delay him as monsters continued to surge forward.
The horses pulling the carriage at the front were also startled and began to run around uncontrollably. Once the two horses diverged in direction, the stability of the carriage could not be guaranteed.
The carriages suddenly slowed down, and this happened almost simultaneously on all three carriages, meaning that Loran and his companions probably had to fight a desperate battle.
Thompson pulled several strange bottles of potion from his backpack and started smashing them at the charging wolf-headed monsters.
The medicine bottle broke, and the liquid inside spilled out, emitting an extremely unpleasant odor.
The monsters were knocked unconscious on the spot after smelling the odor.
Finita began to use magic. Her practice of fireball spell over the past few days had been quite effective, and magical light emanated from her spellbook.
A fireball the size of a washbasin was condensed and then hurled hard into the center of the monsters. The fire explosion caused considerable damage, sending seven or eight monsters flying and rendering them completely incapacitated.
Noah held a greatsword, and his armor shone even brighter. The skill "Unwavering Demeanor" that Loran had subtly bestowed upon Noah had been mastered and used skillfully by him.
Now Noah just stands there, like a thick city wall, making people sigh.
These wolf-headed monsters were somewhat helpless against Noah's greatsword. They ultimately needed to use melee attacks, but with Noah's high attack and high defense, they couldn't find any way to break through.
One by one, wolf-headed monsters fell into pools of blood.
Noah held his uncle and aunt tightly behind him, his eyes resolute: "I will not back down a single step! Unless you step over my dead body!"
