Chapter 128: Reencounter with Jasper

"I have a bad feeling..." Loran sat in the carriage, looking at the gloomy surroundings, feeling uneasy.

After traveling for some time, Loran and his companions, sitting in the carriage, heard what sounded like a faint commotion coming from the town behind them.

Lin Wen seemed to sense something and looked in the direction of the town. "What happened in town?"

Finita thought for a moment and guessed, "Perhaps it's because Mr. Mark Warren's wedding has reached a crucial moment, and everyone is very happy."

"I hope so."

Noah, leaning on his greatsword, cautiously observed his surroundings. The events in Inada Village had made him exceptionally careful.

His meticulousness also allowed him to notice some unique aspects.

"Uncle and Aunt, do you usually keep track of what's happening around town?" Noah asked, seemingly abruptly.

Noah's aunt thought for a moment, "Hmm... Noah, what do you want to say?"

"There are dense forests here, shouldn't there be birds or other small animals making noises? But now, isn't it a bit too quiet?"

Noah's uncle also thought it made perfect sense. "Yes, not to mention in a forest like this, you can often see small animals even in the fields."

Noah didn't think he was overthinking things, and he chose to immediately inform his teammates about the situation.

Loran, Linwen, and Finita heard the message Noah sent and immediately became vigilant.

To be on the safe side, Finita activated her clairvoyance. The function of clairvoyance is not only to get a general understanding of a person or thing, but sometimes it can also be used to discover some people or things that are not easily noticed.

With the help of her spiritual vision, Finita looked through the lens at the surrounding forest and stream, and was surprised to find that her spiritual vision actually reacted!

A series of blurry, generalized pieces of information came into Finita's view, so dense that she could hardly believe her eyes.

As the clairvoyance faded, Finita felt a little dizzy; it seemed she had received a bit too much information.

Finita covered her head, muttering in disbelief, "I...I think I'm not fully awake. Why did I see so many things in my spiritual vision state? Why are there so many things around me? There seems to be something in those bushes!"

Lin Wen was startled by Finita's description. She looked around at the bushes but found nothing unusual. However, as someone who had just become a mage, Finita's words were not an exaggeration!

"Loran! Noah!" Lin Wen called out to the two people in the carriage, then gestured to warn them of the threat in their vicinity.

Lin Wen didn't dare to blurt out this information. She didn't know why these monsters hadn't made a move yet, and she didn't know what would happen if she alerted them again.

Looking around at the eerily quiet environment, and with Lin Wen's reminder, Loran was certain that danger was lurking nearby.

So how should they resolve this crisis?

Lorraine could only try to turn his horse slightly and casually walk in another direction to see if there was any chance of a turnaround.

Lorraine said quite naturally, "It seems we've gone the wrong way. Plasson's direction should be a little over there. I think we can still adjust our course in time."

And so, Loran and his group turned their convoy around and headed in another direction, hoping to find a way out from there.

However, just as they turned the car around to head in another direction, the tranquil surroundings were quietly broken.

A series of rustling sounds reached their ears.

Then a figure slowly emerged from the bushes, as naturally as if taking a stroll.

The figure slowly approached the carriage of Loran and the others in the distance.

Loran also raised his bow, ready to guard against any sudden actions the figure might take.

But after seeing the figure clearly, Loran and Lin Wen's group were slightly stunned, because they had met this figure a few times before.

That was Jasper, the former steward of the castle in Hamstertown.

Jasper, draped in a black robe, wore a sinister smile. "Gentlemen, long time no see. Where are you headed in such a hurry?"

"Are you the steward of the castle in Hama Town? What are you doing here?" Loran asked in a deep voice, while constantly scanning his surroundings out of the corner of his eye.

The appearance of this guy is really not good news. They know that the other party is hostile, but Loran and the others cannot take direct action now. If they push the enemy too far, there will be no room for maneuver.

Since the other party has chosen to engage in dialogue with them, there's no harm in exchanging ideas.

Jasper gave a wicked smile. "Why I'm here isn't important. What's important is that I can't let you leave so easily. I'm sure you've noticed that you're surrounded by danger."

"Now, it's time for you to make a choice. If you want to save your lives, you have one choice: join the great 'God' and become His most faithful follower; otherwise, die!"

Jasper's expression took on a divine quality as he opened his arms, as if he were a divine messenger bathed in divine light.

No one acted rashly, but Loran tentatively asked curiously, "If you want us to become followers of your god, you need to let us know how great this god is and what benefits he can bring us, right?"

Jasper smiled confidently and said slowly, "Gods can transform people's weak bodies. We humans possess the most powerful intelligence on the entire continent, but our physical weakness constantly plagues us with magical beasts and diseases. These are huge obstacles hindering our development!"

"Before the gods, these obstacles will cease to exist. We humans will also possess the unique physical advantages of magical beasts. With powerful bodies and supreme intelligence, we will become the strongest race on the continent, bringing all the areas ravaged by magical beasts into human territory!"

"This is the meaning of God; His greatness is tangible, not just meaningless rhetoric. He can give humanity a better future!"

After saying that, Jasper took off his black robe, revealing his somewhat distorted body.

Jasper's right arm was covered in red scales, his chest was covered in thick purple hair, and even his hair was standing on end, giving him a frenzied purple appearance.

Jasper raised his arm, exclaiming as if admiring a fine work of art, "Look, what a wonderful feeling this is!"

He looked at Loran and the others, "So, what's your choice?"
