Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 127: Outbreak! A Plague-like Substance

Such voices were not isolated in the crowd; they gradually reached the ears of the townspeople, who paid little attention, as such comments were not uncommon on ordinary days.

The adventurers largely agreed with this statement, and they didn't hold back their words, echoing and joking along.

"Yes, I think you're absolutely right. The nobility have achieved their status by exploiting the blood and sweat of the common people, yet they are so arrogant that they don't know how to cherish it at all!"

"Hmph, this is the time when monsters are rampant, and these nobles still have the leisure to hold a wedding banquet here. If it weren't for adventurers like us carrying heavy burdens out there, would they be enjoying such a good life?!"

Such comments sprang up like mushrooms after rain. Originally, everyone was still marveling at the lord's generosity, after all, they had also received many benefits from the lord's kindness.

But after hearing so many comments about hostility towards the nobility, everyone inevitably had their own opinions and began to wonder if it was really true.

Even knowing this, they did not intend to take any action. How could the noble class, which had always maintained order, be defeated by a few words?

Or perhaps those noble mages who are employed by the nobility would get angry and punish some of the scoundrels after hearing these remarks.

But behind this group that outwardly berates the nobles, a group of men in black quietly arrived near the manor.

"God has given us new life, and we need to show our loyalty! Help God to complete His transformation!"

"For a new life!"

"For a new life!"

No one knows exactly when these men in black appeared here.

The town bells rang, the wedding music began to play, echoing throughout Rockfall, and a joyful atmosphere filled the air.

"What a beautiful sound! Is this what nobles often refer to as music?!"

"It must be. These aristocratic things just sound different. They're wonderful. Do nobles live like this every day?"

At that moment, a figure spoke in a low voice: "I believe we can also have this kind of life!"

The townsman looked at the man in black ahead and asked curiously, "We can do it too? With our own hands?"

"No, when our hands are empty, they only create a continuous stream of wealth for the nobles, but when our hands are armed, the nobles should be afraid!"

"Weapons? Are you kidding me? Noble lords usually hire mages as bodyguards. Ordinary people like us, even with clubs and weapons, couldn't possibly stand a chance against them!"

However, the next moment, the black-clad man's arm suddenly bulged up, and his hand turned into a gaping maw, which looked like the head of a dog-headed man.

The townsman was terrified at the sight. He backed away, stammering incredulously, "You...you, what are you doing?"

Join us in this glorious evolution!

The next moment, the kobold's head slammed into the townsman's arm, and red liquid crawled up his arm and onto his entire body!

"What! No...no!" The townsman tried to struggle, but the stinging pain all over his body prevented him from doing so.

Soon, a strong desire arose in the heart of the townsman; he wanted to eat meat... no, to be precise, his arm was craving the nourishment of meat!

Without further thought, the townsman charged into the crowd. His arm transformed into a kobold's head, baring its teeth and biting down hard on the other townsmen. Red substance once again climbed onto their bodies.

This red substance spread like a plague through the town, turning even the normal townspeople into bloodthirsty and manic individuals.

Baron Warren received the information immediately and ordered the deployment of the noble mercenary group to quell the disaster.

"Why are these monsters moving so fast? What kind of bizarre methods are these...? With abilities that can spread from person to person, do they really need to go to such lengths to deal with our Rockfall Town? Wouldn't it be better to just take on the entire kingdom directly?"

Baron Warren had been consciously suppressing the unfamiliar forces lurking in Rockfall Town for the past few days, but he hadn't expected them to erupt so quickly.

Even if these guys all erupted, it wouldn't be a big problem. The problem is that these guys are assimilating his townspeople at an alarming rate!

Even if he successfully prevents this disaster, countless townspeople will likely die or be injured, and the very foundation of Rockfall Town may not be secure.

"Contact the church pastor and some of the affected townspeople; this might be an illness that can be treated... otherwise, our town is in serious trouble!"

Baron Warren's butler kept giving orders to his men to deal with the current crisis.

Soon after, new news arrived.

"Your Excellency, the rumored horde of monsters... seems to have reappeared! They... they are closing in on Rockfall Town. No one knows where they are hiding, but now they've emerged like ghosts..."

The butler's lips trembled slightly as he conveyed this message; he couldn't believe that the fate of Inada Village would now befall them.

Baron Warren remained calm: "Don't be nervous. We've made ample preparations. Do these monsters really think our territory is short-handed? Activate the normal plan! Mobilize the adventurers, mobilize the mage ranks, and garrison our town!"

"yes!"

At this time, Luoyan Town was in complete chaos, with all sorts of strange people appearing in the streets and alleys.

Some, though possessing human bodies, have goblin heads. Their intelligence seems to have become as dull as that of goblins, while their greedy and playful nature is fully unleashed at this moment.

They attacked innocent townspeople indiscriminately and tortured the unarmed with cruelty and violence, reveling in the painful cries of the people on the ground.

The men in black would then take advantage of the situation and pour the red substance onto the suffering people, turning them into inhuman monsters in the near future.

This substance spreads like a plague, and is even more terrible and terrifying than a plague.

The monsters you killed may very well have been your best friends or family members... Now they have all lost their minds, muttering about the "god" they believe in.

Adventurers with combat skills would not sit idly by in this situation; they all used their own methods to defend against and fight back against the monsters.

Many of them also came into contact with the red substance during the battle, and some were terrified, worried that they might also be assimilated.

Fortunately, these substances did not seem to have any effect on them.

Perhaps it was because of their physical fitness, or perhaps it was because of their strong will, but in any case, this discovery gave the adventurers a lot of confidence.

Adventurers gathered in every corner of the town, and they began to sound the horn of counterattack!

Meanwhile, preparations to defend against the approaching monster horde were quietly underway around Rockfall Town...
