Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 135: On the Long Journey

The people in the town naturally heard the huge explosion from afar, but no one cared. No matter what happened in the distance, their first priority was to solve their current predicament.

The various monster squad leaders besieging Rockfall Town were trying their best to break through the defenses when they suddenly sensed that Commander Dafuer, who was in charge of the operation, had lost contact with them.

They knew that he was an extremely wise goblin sage with excellent control over the battlefield situation. Just recently, he had participated in the decision-making process for organizing and allocating the attack, but now he had also lost contact with them.

However, Feu is not the only leader; they can also receive command from other monster leaders, such as Lord Carlos.

But it seems that they can't contact that person either. However, it's alright, they still have a wise human leader named Jasper...

Jasper also sensed that Feu had lost contact, and he was greatly alarmed. It was one thing for Carlos, with such a powerful body, to die, but why did that unfathomable goblin shaman die?

Despite the shock, Jasper quickly stopped thinking about it; after all, these guys were just God's servants.

What he needed to do was to use the deaths of these two men as a wake-up call to be careful, and then receive greater power from God!

"Monster squad, don't rush, this is a long battle!" Jasper contacted the various monster squad leaders via teleportation, giving instructions for the next steps.

......

Meanwhile, the Lorans, now out of danger, have embarked on their journey to Plassen.

Most of their luggage was left on the carriage, and the journey to Plassen was not something that could be completed in a day or two; food and lodging were issues they needed to consider.

"Let's take a short rest. We should be at a relatively safe distance now. Let's find something to eat first. It will probably be a long hike to Plassen," Loran directed.

Everyone agreed with Lorraine's statement.

Noah used his greatsword to chop some firewood to use as fuel for cooking and keeping warm at night.

Lin Wen and Luo Lan looked around to see if there were any prey they could hunt. As hunters, the two of them had plenty of experience in this area.

Ronnie and Uncle Noah and the others did what they could, such as picking some easily identifiable wild vegetables, building a simple tent out of wood, and spreading leaves and hay as a makeshift mattress.

As for Thompson and Juno, they were both unconscious at this time, but their breathing was still relatively good and they were not in any danger to their lives.

As night gradually fell, Lin Wen used a small knife to quickly and cleanly pelt a rabbit, then handed it to the very confident Loran.

Loran, who possesses a focused culinary skill, was finally able to put her skills to use at this moment, showcasing her roasted rabbit technique.

In addition, they also pieced together bamboo tubes to make simple containers, added river water, and then added some wild vegetables and collected spices to make a pot of wild vegetable soup.

Under Loran's guidance, for some reason, the simple roasted rabbit and wild vegetable soup made in the wild smelled exceptionally delicious. Everyone was already captivated by the aroma and couldn't move.

"Wow, Lorraine, your cooking is amazing! I think it tastes even better than some of the barbecue restaurants in town!" Lin Wen said in surprise.

Finita nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, it smells so good!"

Loran chuckled, "Of course! I've secretly practiced my skills, so the taste is definitely top-notch!"

Everyone has just experienced a major emotional upheaval, and their hearts are extremely unsettled. We can only relieve their inner pressure by talking about some soothing topics.

Adventurers like Loran and his companions were alright, but there were also several ordinary people around them who were probably experiencing such a scene for the first time. Their hearts were filled with anxiety and worry, though they simply didn't voice it.

Fini hugged Ronnie and tore off pieces of the grilled meat, feeding them to Ronnie. When she was little, her sister took care of her, and now she wanted to take good care of her sister.

They sustained themselves on the meager food supplies and then rested on the spot. Loran and the others took turns keeping watch, and the night passed uneventfully.

When dawn breaks, they will set off on their journey again.

During this period, heavy rain is inevitable. Lin Wen, who has good wilderness survival experience, used natural materials to make a simple umbrella that can provide basic shelter from the rain.

On the second day of their journey, Thompson and Mrs. Juno woke up. Mrs. Juno was alright; her wounds had healed and she was fine.

Thompson was a bit different. After experiencing so many explosions, firstly, his sparse hair was a bit frizzy, and secondly, his face had become extremely dark. The conditions didn't really allow him to take a proper shower.

Looking at Thompson who had just woken up, Loran teased, "Old man, you're really something! You actually figured out the runes. But... before you took a bath, you were probably already a complete old geezer."

"Oh my God, it's unbelievable... I feel like everything that happened before was a dream, really." Thompson shook his head and exclaimed.

Juno smiled with relief. "Thompman, your dream of so many years has finally come true. It's something to be happy about."

Thompson lowered his head upon hearing this. He hesitated for a moment, then looked at Juno and said tentatively, "Juno, to be honest... this moment may not be as happy as I imagined. In fact, I feel a little dazed or... disappointed."

"My life is a failure, just like my height and my appearance. I've been running away from it all along, but what I've been running away from is precisely what I want most, what's most important, and one of the most crucial aspects of my life. If I hadn't chosen to run away, what would my life have been like? Juno, I'm sorry..."

Mrs. Juno shook her head and looked at Thompson earnestly, saying, "Thompman, don't dwell on whether your choices were right or wrong. It is because of these choices that you have become who you are, and what I admire is this imperfect you."

Upon hearing this, Thompson's eyes reddened, and he suddenly didn't know what to say, becoming flustered and at a loss for words.

Lin Wen and the others gave each other a knowing look, secretly watching the scene.

After the two had talked for a while, Loran handed them some food that he had left behind. Since they were unconscious and unable to eat, the two must be starving and needed to replenish their energy.

"Thompman, you're the hero who saved us all this time," Loran teased.

Thompson finally showed a proud expression. "Of course! Back when I was very young, I was a very capable scholar, and now I've finally made it! Of course, people will look at me with new respect!"
