Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 137: Dream Factory

Loran began to run, the figures on the street gradually became blurred, the world in front of him became unreal, and the surrounding sounds gradually became indistinct.

The next moment, he arrived at a relatively quiet street, with a few passersby strolling around on both sides of the street.

The sky above was filled with the darkness of night, with many twinkling stars hanging in the air, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.

Loran walked a few steps down the street and saw the store he had visited before—the Colbert Store.

This requires accessing a person's memories or soul in exchange for goods, which can be used in one's dreams. This is the information Loran currently has.

Loran found a chair and sat down. He knew very little about Dream City, but surely someone knew more. Why not ask a local resident who was easy to talk to? Wouldn't that answer all his questions?

So Lorraine waited quietly at the entrance of Corbert's shop.

He noticed that not many people entered Corbert's shop, and those people seemed... quite normal; it was certain they didn't appear to be lacking a soul.

"Hello, I'd like to buy one of these." A very elegant-looking gentleman purchased an item that had a certain influence in Loran; the bargaining chip for the transaction was a soul.

But... this guy wasn't affected at all after buying this item, so why is that?

Loran felt a surge of curiosity. He decided not to remain an observer. He had been in the dream world for so long, and surely no one would care about an unknown nobody like him. So Loran stepped forward to ask what was going on.

"Hey, buddy, how are you?" Lorraine said, stepping forward to strike up a conversation.

The elegant gentleman stopped and glanced at Loran briefly. "Hello, sir, is there anything I can help you with?"

"I noticed you were walking very fast, and I was curious about what you wanted to do," Loran said frankly, expressing his curiosity.

The elegant gentleman wasn't surprised; he simply smiled and casually took a business card from his pocket.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Rhodes, the head of the Dream Factory. I just bought a really cool jar from a soul at the store. I think everyone here, including you, probably wants to have that opportunity, right?" Rhodes said with a smile.

Loran was somewhat taken aback, not expecting the other party to be so proactive and enthusiastic. Loran knew that there was definitely more to this than met the eye!

So Loran followed up on Rhodes's words, nodding repeatedly, "Yes, yes! I do want that opportunity too."

Rhodes looked Loran up and down carefully, noticing that Loran's eyes were clear and didn't seem like someone with a mental problem. He then asked to confirm, "Before you started talking to me, had you been to any other dream factories?"

Lorraine shook her head.

"Have you ever done anything for anyone else?"

Lorraine shook his head again.

"So, is your own soul truly your own now?"

Lorraine nodded this time.

Rod smiled with satisfaction. "Excellent, very good. The Dream Factory doesn't care about your past or your birth; the factory will only bring you a better dream life! If you're interested, why don't you come with me?"

Loran naturally accepted the guy's invitation. He felt great; it seemed he was about to get some inside information about how this dream city operated.

After following Rhodes for a long time, passing through streets and alleys, a huge factory appeared before Loran's eyes.

The factory is surrounded by a high wall, completely separating it from the street, as if it were another world.

Rod gently pushed open the factory gate, and Loran saw the buildings inside, which were long, narrow houses, though calling them houses might not be entirely accurate.

This is more like a shed prepared for livestock...

Loran felt that calling this place a factory was a bit inappropriate; he thought it would be more accurate to call it an industrial park!

Although this place didn't look like a good spot, Loran still followed Rhodes inside. He wanted to see what kind of business was being conducted in the large factories of this dream city...

After passing through several factories, Rod finally brought Loran to a place with slightly more luxurious decor.

Loran then noticed that the materials used to build these factories seemed to be something else... it looked like some kind of very expensive wood, which he remembered seeing in the lord's room in Clam Town.

Yeah, there don't seem to be any specific things in dreams, these guys must be aiming for expensive items.

As Loran entered Rhodes' office, he saw various gems embedded on both sides of the corridor, which looked quite dazzling.

"Don't be nervous. These things aren't actually that valuable in Dream City. As long as you work hard, you'll have things like these in your world too!" Rhodes said with a chuckle.

"Everyone who comes to Dream City is amazed by the magic of dreams. Everything in dreams is wonderful, but you need enough resources to change it and change yourself. So sometimes, you also need to face the harsh realities of life in exchange for the beauty of dreams, right?"

Rod continued.

Loran listened to Rhodes's long and complicated description, his mind going blank for a moment. He gathered his thoughts and uttered a few words: "Uh... so what do you want me to do?"

Rod took out a piece of paper with the words "Welcome to the Dream Factory" written on it!

Dream Factory Work Regulations.

1. Workers must not leave the factory without authorization during working hours and must accept arrangements from the factory.

2. After completing the work, you will receive a reward from the factory. One memory fragment can be exchanged for 0.5 memory fragments.

3. You can exchange 500 memory fragments for a fragmented soul.

"As you probably know, memory fragments are a form of hard currency in Dream City. With memory fragments, you can buy everything related to your own dreams and become the master of your dream world!"

"But... go and see the chaotic state of Dream City right now. Memory fragments need specialized memory trimmers to cut them, but who can guarantee what kind of mess they'll make of your original memories if you hand your head over to those unreliable guys? The risk is just too great!"

"The Dream Factory completely solves this problem. You just need to stay in the room arranged by our factory and then go to the real world. The factory's equipment will detect your memory fragments and intercept and save them in time when you return to the dream. In this way, there is no need to edit the memory, and you can still get the memory fragments."

"Once you obtain the memory fragment, our Dream Factory will allocate half to you as payment for our equipment. Therefore, I sincerely invite you to join our Dream Factory!"
