Chapter 146 The Goblin Mission
Quest Request: Wandering Goblin in the Senra Region Initiator: Adventurers' Guild Quest Difficulty: Iron Quest Reward: 2 Gold and 50 Silver (total)
The group saw this quest in the Iron-tier quest list.
"Hmm... this mission doesn't seem so easy. The goblin bears are quite powerful, and this quest specifies a region without a specific location. We might have to spend some time searching for it..."
"Overall, the rewards and costs of this mission may not be very high," Lin Wen commented.
Loran carefully scanned the task list and offered his opinion, "However, there don't seem to be many cost-effective tasks left. With the high turnover of people in Plassen, it seems that the easy tasks have been taken away."
"Goblins generally don't lead large groups, so we don't really have a better option for these missions."
After discussing it for a while, the group finally decided to accept the task.
The Senro region is a geographical name given by Plassen to the surrounding area; it does not refer to a specific village or town, but rather to a rural area.
Loran and his companions need to find the goblin in this wilderness and kill it.
The Dogecoin team didn't spend as much time preparing for their next trip as before; instead, they opted to regroup briefly before setting off.
After experiencing various events, they realized that time was of the essence and they needed to accelerate the pace of improving their strength.
The group headed to the second floor of the Adventurers' Guild to buy various potions. Loran also wandered around for a while, and during the process of buying potions, he saw many other rangers like himself.
They also have pets, but their style is very different from Brian's.
For example, a person might be accompanied by a giant tarantula. The dense hairs on the tarantula's legs and the numerous eyeballs on its face could be quite unsettling.
There are also people who keep a handsome eagle. The eagle stands proudly on its owner's shoulder, looking down arrogantly at everyone present, exuding a domineering aura.
There are also those who raise wolves, and the sharpness and ferocity revealed in their wolf eyes are enough to prove that they are first-class fighters!
But it seems that only Loran's family owns a silly dog.
Dogs have limited combat capabilities and little room for growth. Keeping such pets for dangerous adventure missions would likely have a negative impact, which is undoubtedly irresponsible to both the pet and the team.
Therefore, few people keep them as pets, but Brian is an exception. This guy is tough and resilient, and Loran has hardly ever worried about his safety...
The Senra region is quite a distance from Plassen; otherwise, given its proximity, this mission would be very appealing.
So Loran and his companions rented a carriage and prepared tents and sleeping bags in case they couldn't find the goblin's exact location for a while...
The forests surrounding Plassen are rich in resources, hence the name, but these relatively abundant resources also come with dangers.
"Awooo!" Several drooling, hungry wolves appeared in the woods and attacked Loran and his companions' carriage!
These guys' target was the two plump, strong horses in front of the carriage; judging by their appearance, they must have been starving.
Noah quickly jumped off the carriage, his resolute demeanor making his plate armor gleam. He aimed his heavy sword at the oncoming hungry wolf.
As Lin Wen tried to move quickly, she inadvertently discovered that she seemed to have arrived at a strange place... It seemed she had burrowed underground?!
Upon closer inspection, Lin Wen realized that she seemed to have entered some kind of shadowy place!
"Could this be... Shadow Cloak?!"
Shadow Ambush allows you to briefly enter the Shadowlands, a parallel world to the surface. Entering the Shadowlands grants temporary concealment and allows you to avoid damage.
Of course, there are also drawbacks, namely, the consumption of mental energy is relatively large, and the time spent in the Shadow Realm is very short, which greatly depends on the user's affinity with the Shadow Realm.
Shadow Cloak is much simpler; it involves disappearing into the shadows of the surface world. While it doesn't prevent damage, it has the advantage of low energy consumption and allows for a longer period of lurking.
Lin Wen, who had unintentionally triggered Shadow Cloak, seized the opportunity and flashed behind the hungry wolf, then stabbed down with his dagger!
Loran, on the other hand, had it much easier. He casually conjured a magic arrow that was neither solid nor thin, and struck the wolf in the head, killing it instantly.
In just a short while, they dealt with the hungry wolves.
Noah began skinning the wolf, remarking with some emotion, "Ah, I don't know how long it's been since I've experienced the joy of looting... In previous battles, I was always focused on escaping, and sometimes I even forgot the purpose of adventurers' battles: to make money and plunder!"
On the other side, Lin Wen's face was beaming with joy. She excitedly tried out the Shadow Cloak she had just learned, then shared her happiness with her teammates, "Ahhh! Look, I've learned another skill! This is my third skill now. I, Lin Wen, am truly a genius among assassins! Hahahaha!"
Besides Shadow Ambush and Shadow Cloak, Lin Wen also learned a skill called Flash, which allows him to move a short distance at extremely high speed, looking like he's blinking.
Seeing his companions rekindle their passion for adventure, Loran was overjoyed. They had experienced so many unexpected events during this time, and it was a rare treat to have an experience like this.
But the more beautiful things she saw, the more the image of that headless monster would flash through Loran's mind.
That monster is truly terrifying. The storm currently sweeping through Rockfall Town is very likely related to it...
Brian looked at the dazed Loran, tilting his head curiously: "Master, what are you thinking about? Want me to get you a wolf's thigh bone? That tastes really cool!"
"Thigh bone? Uh... never mind." Loran chuckled and patted Brian's head.
"Woof~ Hiccup~" Brian wanted to bark twice, but unexpectedly, he burped, and tiny flames actually splashed out of his mouth.
Loran's expression froze for a moment when he saw the spark leap out. Wait, what's going on?!
Brian looked quite surprised. He tilted his head, puzzled, wondering why something like that could come out of his mouth.
It seems that the skills he subtly imparted to Brian are starting to take effect...
After dealing with the pack of hungry wolves, the carriage set off again, and soon the group arrived at the Senluo region. The area was teeming with wolves, and finding a hidden goblin in this place would certainly not be an easy task.
"Everyone, split up and search the surrounding area, but be careful not to stray too far apart. Our goal is to investigate any clues about the goblin."
"good!
