Chapter 147 Judy Brook
Chapter 147 Judy Brook
Brian pressed his dog nose to the ground and began to sniff.
This is the advantage of the Dog Dagger Squad: they have dogs!
Dogs have a very keen sense of smell. As long as that goblin bear dares to leave any scent clues, Loran and the others will be able to follow the trail.
Sure enough, after a short while, Brian's ears perked up, and his expression turned serious.
"It smells...awful, really foul! Ugh!" Brian commented.
"Stinky?" Loran asked suspiciously. Brian's nose would smell something fragrant when it smelled something indescribable, so what kind of smell would it be when it said something stinky?
Brian continued sniffing and walked in one direction.
Loran also promptly notified the rest of the team, who hadn't found anything yet, so they decided to try their luck with Brian.
Led by Brian, the group arrived at a rock wall where they discovered some strange things.
Because there are strange patterns carved on this stone wall, and the pigments used for carving are also very particular.
It was blood.
"Ah! Look!" Lin Wen pointed to the ground with a look of astonishment.
Looking over, they saw a grim skeleton lying near a thicket of bushes close to the stone wall. Judging from its appearance, it seemed to be a goblin that had been dead for some time.
Noah speculated, "Perhaps the pigments used to depict this pattern came from this unfortunate fellow..."
Looking at the indescribable pattern on the stone wall, Loran could only be certain of one thing: it was definitely just random scribbling! There was absolutely no motive or intention to it.
He also shared his views with his teammates.
Lin Wen nodded in agreement, "That's right, this guy's drawing skills aren't even as good as mine, it's definitely just scribbling."
However, Finita offered a different perspective: "Many ancient sacrificial symbols are indescribable. Evil gods have existed since ancient times, and they use these strange symbols to bestow power upon their followers..."
"So, this is the pattern that the bear goblin drew in order to obtain the power of the evil god?" Loran was somewhat surprised. As a transmigrator, he had only a rudimentary understanding of the ins and outs of this world and could hardly be considered an expert.
Now that Finita has said it, it might actually be true.
Lin Wen pouted, "But we still haven't found that timid guy..."
"Doesn't this prove we're heading in the right direction? Brian, let's keep looking!" Lorraine said optimistically.
Following Brian's footsteps, the group continued forward, but unfortunately, Brian stopped halfway through the pursuit. Brian sniffed, looking disappointed, "Hmm... I think I can't smell that awful scent anymore."
The group was immediately at a stalemate. The Senluo region was quite large, and it would be very difficult to check every area one by one. Moreover, even if they did manage to check, the bear goblin could hide, making their efforts futile.
"Since we've lost track of them in this area, let's split up and look for clues, just like before!" Lin Wen suggested.
The group resumed their investigation. Loran led Brian aside to search for clues. Listening to the cheerful chirping of the birds in the forest, Loran felt a little irritated.
I was already feeling down because I couldn't find my target, and these few damn birds kept chirping away. How annoying!
Just as Loran was thinking of hunting a few birds to replenish his nutrition, the cheerful bird calls gradually transformed into light and lively language in Loran's ears.
"Judy~ Darling, you look so beautiful today. I really want to hold you and sing you a joyful song on a branch~"
"Oh, Brooke, I need to fill my stomach first before I have time to spend with you. You know, I really like those fat, chubby bugs~"
"Darling, of course I know, that's why I brought you one today! I guarantee it's the first insect to climb to the treetop today; its flesh is incredibly plump and delicious. I've been saving it for you; I haven't even had the heart to eat it myself!"
Loran listened to the birds' cheerful conversation in the treetops, then paused, suddenly remembering that he was a man fluent in languages; having listened to these birdsongs so often, he had actually learned bird language...
Wait a minute, since he can understand bird calls, he must also know bird language, right? Just like Brian knows human language.
"Coo coo coo~ coo coo quack quack~" Loran made a bird-like sound from her mouth.
The birds in the treetops also cast curious glances at Loran.
The bird named Judy covered its beak in surprise with its wings. "Oh my God, dear Brooke, am I dreaming? I think I heard that two-legged creature talking to us!"
"Yes, darling, I heard it too. I'm pretty sure we're not dreaming, because he's watching us!"
Hey there, two-legged creature! How was your day?!
Loran smiled slightly. "Of course, it's very unpleasant! I'm in a great hurry right now, can you help me?"
Brook, perched on a branch, seemed very helpful. He flapped his wings, appearing quite confident. "Alright, you two-legged creature wandering in the wild, tell me, what difficulties have you encountered, if I can help you?"
"Brook, I suggest you be careful. Many of our companions have died at the hands of two-legged creatures, especially since this guy has a four-legged creature with him! Oh my god, that four-legged creature is drooling over us! It wants to eat us!"
"Oh, darling, don't be nervous. Look how clumsy it is; I don't think it can climb up!"
Loran was startled and turned to look, only to find Brian flicking his tongue as he tried to climb the tree. Loran's mouth twitched, and he gave the guy a headbutt, which made him behave for the time being.
Then Loran asked the two birds, "Have you ever seen a strange creature? It's tall, and its skin might be green, or some other color..."
"You might often hear him making some very annoying noises in the forest, like chasing other creatures or something. Think about it, do you remember?"
Brooke and Judy exchanged glances, thought for a moment, and then replied, "Oh, well... we seem to remember that nasty fellow, the two-legged creature. I advise you to stay away from him; he's very dangerous! Like that clumsy four-legged creature under the tree, bring three! That should be enough to feed him!"
"Don't worry, I understand. My purpose in coming here today is to get rid of that guy. If you can provide his location, I can help you deal with this annoying fellow."
Brooke and Judy whispered to each other.
Finally, Brooke readily agreed, "Alright, two-legged creature, if you insist on doing this, then I'll help you. We don't know where that guy is right now, but we can call our brothers and sisters; they'll find him eventually! Just wait here, we'll be there in a bit!"
After saying that, the two little birds flew away.
