Chapter 36 The Deal (Please continue reading)

Commercial area, Anna's cottage

"I can lend you a hundred magic stones, but why do you want to buy a Concentration Potion, especially a premium one?" Anna looked at her junior brother with surprise. "These things aren't cheap. Why do you want to buy them?"

Richard cleared his throat and delivered his prepared speech.

"Sister Anna, I'm also researching focus potions. I think since they're both focus potions, the ones my teacher gave me and the ones sold in the commercial district must have something in common. Buying a bottle might give me some inspiration."

"Inspiration?" Anna rolled her eyes at Richard. "We alchemists believe in learning and practicing more. We don't rely on vague inspiration."

However, despite saying that, Anna went back into the shop and took out a 100ml bottle of light blue potion.

"Here, a premium Concentration Potion. It costs thirty magic stones in the shop, but I bought it secondhand; the price doubled." Anna waved the potion in front of Richard, a playful smile on her lips. "How many magic stones do you think would be a good price to sell it to you now?"

"This..." Li examined the medicine, his mind immediately filled with conflict.

He doesn't have many magic stones on him right now.

"You actually remembered." Anna couldn't help but tap Richard on the head. "This stuff is priceless in the academy. If even one bottle leaks out a month, that's considered a high yield. You simply can't buy it with magic stones."

"Then... Anna, are you going to give me a ride?" Richard's eyes lit up.

"You wish." Anna glared at Richard. "Consider this a loan. If you ever make a high-quality focus potion, you'll have to pay me back two bottles."

"Do you accept this condition?"

"I accept, I accept, of course I accept." Richard nodded repeatedly, adding as he finished speaking.

"Sister Anna, you're so kind to me!"

Anna's cheeks flushed slightly. "Go, go, go make your potions. I'm starting to regret it; I should have asked for three bottles of premium potions!"

……

Back in his dorm room, Richard took the potion and activated the Miracle Furnace.

[Ingredients: Premium Focused Pharmaceuticals]

[Refinable Skill: Alchemy Operation (Incomplete)]

[Refinement Cost: 10 Spirit Points]

[Retrievable Information: Focus on Potion Formulation]

[Refinement Cost: 10 Spirit Points]

[Whether to extract]

"It can even extract potion formulas?" Looking at the information provided by the furnace, Li couldn't help but feel a surge of joy. "If that's the case, then I can extract formulas for all the potions sold by the academy, right?"

This crazy idea sent a shiver down Richard's spine, but he quickly suppressed it. Even if he refined so many formulas, he couldn't sell them in the commercial district. Those wizards could tell at a glance whether a potion was his own formula or not.

The crime of stealing knowledge is too serious for Jorod to protect.

"Although I can't sell them, I can always use them myself." Richard couldn't help but smile. "With so many potions sold, it shouldn't be a problem for me to get one or two."

Richard chose to refine his technique. With a base of 23 points of mental strength, Richard only felt a slight dizziness before the refinement was over.

Absorbing the light sphere that recorded the technique, Richard instantly felt himself transformed back into a wizard. Materials were kneaded and manipulated in his hands like clay, and all kinds of oddly shaped, soft, or hard materials were no problem for him. He was also adept at preparing potions and could deal with any situation without even thinking.

After the absorption was complete, Richard shook his head, got up, and picked up the materials for preparing the focus potion.

Crushing, sieving, extracting, grinding—Richard held the materials, his arms automatically processing them before he even had a chance to think.

"The wizard's skills are terrifying."

Richard breathed a sigh of relief, and a renewed sense of awe for wizards rose in his heart.

……

With such skills, Richard naturally found making potions quite easy, although failures were still inevitable. Throughout this process, Richard didn't forget to record data, as he always had some reservations about the vague figures on the formulas.

Richard believes that the low success rate of potions is largely due to these vague data.

And just like that, a month passed quickly.

"Did you make all of this?" Anna stared at the box of focus potions in front of her, her mind reeling.

She felt that there must be something wrong with her meditation, otherwise how could she have the illusion that her junior brother, who had only been concocting potions for a month, was holding a box of focus potions and trying to sell them to her?

This must be a hallucination!

"Anna, would you agree to let me consign these potions to you?" Richard asked somewhat disgruntled after not receiving a reply for a long time.

After refining his skills, Richard devoted himself to concocting potions for a month. After spending all the money he borrowed from Anna, he concocted a total of sixty-five Concentration Potions, with a success rate of nearly two-thirds.

"Yes, yes." Anna snapped out of her daze and cautiously probed, "How many times have you failed to make these potions? The magic stones I gave you probably aren't enough, right?"

A shameful thought flashed through Anna's mind—she actually wished Richard would fail more often.

But Richard's answer shattered her last illusions.

"I failed many times, with a success rate of about one in half," Richard said, feigning embarrassment. George R.R. had given him a book containing records of his former students' achievements, and his one in half success rate was even worse than the last-place student.

Such a result seems quite fitting for someone of his junior apprentice status.

"How much?" Anna felt another wave of dizziness. She had never felt so powerless since becoming a wizard apprentice.

"One-half," Richard repeated, emphasizing each word. "Senior sister, I've only just started making potions. Isn't it normal for the failure rate to be a little high?"

"A one-half success rate! For an ordinary apprentice starting to make focus potions, a one-tenth success rate is considered acceptable, and a one-fifth success rate is considered talented. For a low-level apprentice like you to have achieved a one-half success rate right from the start, I... I..."

Anna felt somewhat powerless to face Richard. She had thought Richard had the same talent for magic armor as her, but now it seemed that Richard's talent was even more exaggerated than she had imagined.

"Ah... really?" Richard's face stiffened, and he forced a smile. "I don't think I'm even on the list in the teacher's book."

Anna took a deep breath, trying to keep her tone calm.

"Richard, the teacher has taught hundreds of classes of students in the academy. Those who can be taken in by him are all exceptionally talented, and the apprentices who can be written into his book are geniuses among geniuses."

"Haha, I knew I wasn't that bad, not even as good as the last place in the book." Richard tried to get excited, he had given up all hope at this point.

So what if he's a genius? Anyway, he makes all his own potions, so he can replicate them even if asked to.

With so many indigenous predecessors setting an example, he, as a transmigrator, didn't stand out much.

"But don't be too proud," Anna said, her emotions subsiding and her expression returning to her usual cool and aloof demeanor. "There are countless talented apprentices, but only a handful can truly become wizards."

"Okay, I understand." Richard nodded obediently.

Anna counted the potions in the box; there were forty-six bottles in total. At a price of five magic stones per bottle, these potions brought Richard a net profit of nearly one hundred and thirty magic stones.

This was the result of Richard deliberately selling less than he should have. If Richard had been willing to sell more, he could have earned even more.

"Since it's a consignment potion, I, as the senior sister, won't take a cut. Here, take these 130 magic stones." Anna put the potion into the counter and handed Richard a bag of magic stones. "Focus on potions and you won't have to worry about selling them. I'll give you the money first."

Go back and get some rest; you must be exhausted after a month of this.

Richard felt a warmth in his heart, took the magic stone, politely said goodbye to Anna, and headed straight for the central black tower.

There's no need for him to rest. Now that he has money, how can he not indulge in some spending?
