Chapter 38 Spell Test
Chapter 38 Spell Test (Please continue reading)
The experimental area, being the largest area in the entire college, is mostly enclosed.
The closed area is the paid testing zone, and it is fully equipped with both protective measures and testing facilities. While the open area allows apprentices to conduct tests for free, they must pay for the targets if they wish to use them.
Richard arrived at the testing area's rental hall, hoping to select a suitable location to test the power of the Secondary Fireball spell.
The main hall is in the Romanesque style, with huge vaulted ceilings, thick walls, and buttresses and flying buttresses on the exterior. Inside the hall are many counters, each with an apprentice in charge.
To more accurately test the power of this original version of Fireball, Richard chose a testing ground with a magic stone every hour and a target for testing both physical and elemental power.
After paying, the apprentice behind the counter handed him a crystal card.
"Please proceed to Area 3, Type 4 Testing Room."
Following the path inside the testing area, Richard quickly found his testing room. There was a slot on the door; Richard inserted the crystal card, and the door opened automatically.
"It's quite modern."
The testing room is quite spacious, about the size of a basketball court.
Upon entering, Richard saw two humanoid targets deep within the arena. These targets were made by wizards. The black target on the left could withstand elemental damage up to level 50, while the white target on the other side could withstand physical damage up to level 50.
There is also a white stone platform in the field, with two crystal balls on the platform, each corresponding to a target.
Whenever Richard attacks a target with a spell, the power of the spell is automatically transferred to the crystal ball.
"That's convenient," Richard remarked. Although the wizarding world had taken a different path because of magic, human instincts remained the same: everyone would do what makes things as convenient as possible.
Upon reaching the stone platform, Richard's thoughts stirred, and the magic within him automatically gathered in his hand, transforming into a palm-sized red fireball. With a casual wave of his hand, the fireball struck the target like a meteor.
boom!
[Elemental Damage: Fire]
[Damage Level: 20]
Richard was fairly satisfied with the data displayed in the crystal ball. This Lesser Fireball had consumed nearly a quarter of his magic power, or fifty points, but its power had reached level twenty. While this power was far inferior to the wizard's modified Lesser Fireball spell in the Lesser Fireball staff, it far exceeded that of a magic missile that consumed the same amount of magic power.
"No wonder some wizards say that magic tricks are a waste of magic power; the way magic is used in these spells is terrifying."
Richard then tested the power of the Lesser Fireball staff.
boom!
[Elemental Damage: Fire]
[Damage Level: 49]
Looking at the power of the Fireball staff, Richard couldn't help but marvel at how knowledge truly is power. Even though it was the same Lesser Fireball spell, the wizard's modified version had more than doubled its power.
"Try the Ice Spike spell again."
Richard aimed his finger at the target, and an ice pick flew out instantly, striking the target.
[Elemental Damage: Ice]
[Damage Level: 0.1]
[WARNING: Do not test physical attacks on elemental targets]
Richard glanced at the warning and a knowing smile appeared on his face.
The Ice Spike spell is just a disguised elemental spell; it actually deals damage based on kinetic energy.
Richard changed target and fired another ice pick.
[Damage Type: Piercing]
[Damage Level: 5]
"Penetration damage?" Richard thought to himself, turned around and went to the physical target, slashing it with his greatsword.
When they returned to the stone platform, the damage type in the crystal ball had changed to "cutting".
"I never imagined that wizards would categorize physical damage in such detail. No wonder they are a civilization that has conquered different planes."
Adhering to the principle of not wasting anything, Richard then used a physical target to test the power of his Wind Raven Slash in its normal state, obtaining a level 5 cutting damage. He then used his bloodline to test it again, obtaining a level 6 result.
"An increase of one energy level is not bad." Li Kan was fairly satisfied with the result. After all, the first stage of his bloodline formula focused on defense and lacked offense. When the bloodline was activated, the increase in his own power was not much.
This situation will change in the second phase.
However, the Warcraft Academy required for the second phase does not exist within his sphere of influence, so he can only purchase it from the Wizarding Guild at a high price.
However, Richard is not in a hurry to undergo the second stage of bloodline alchemy. Firstly, he doesn't need to go on missions at the moment and spends all his time at the academy, so he doesn't have a great need to increase his strength. Secondly, he is currently more eager for Jordold's knowledge.
Jorod's knowledge wasn't just theoretical; some magical armor designs, potion recipes, and even higher-level meditation techniques were all part of his legacy. Once you learned these things, they would all be black magic stones.
Stepping out of the testing room, the sun was shining brightly outside.
Richard shielded his eyes from the sun, thinking about getting another batch of materials and making another batch of Focused Medicine.
He uses magic stones in many places now, and the market for potions is huge, so the more diligent he is now, the more he will earn.
But as soon as he stepped outside, he heard a whooshing sound of wings flapping overhead. Looking up, he saw an owl flying in front of him. Richard examined the owl closely; it seemed to be the one Chuck used to deliver messages.
"Junior brother, come to the Central Black Tower." The owl suddenly spoke in human language.
It seems that's true.
"I understand, senior brother. I'll be right there," Richard said to the owl.
Upon hearing this, the owl flapped its wings and flew toward the black tower.
"That's a bit strange. Why would Chuck suddenly ask me to go to the Black Tower?" Richard stroked his chin, slightly puzzled.
Upon arriving at the fifty-sixth floor of the central black tower, Richard knocked on the door.
dong dong dong.
"Junior brother, you've finally arrived." Chuck opened the door and welcomed Richard into the room.
Besides Chuck, there was another person in the room. This person looked unremarkable, but Richard's body hair stood on end the moment he entered the room.
An extremely dangerous person!
Richard mentally labeled the man.
"Eric, this is Richard, my mentor's new apprentice," Chuck introduced the man.
Eric stood up and extended his right hand, a kind smile on his face.
"Junior Richard, I've been looking for you everywhere."
Richard reached out and shook hands. The instant their hands touched, Richard immediately felt the surging life force within Eric.
That vitality wasn't that of a person; it was more like a monster wearing human skin.
"I'm not good at socializing, I'm sorry to have troubled you, senior."
"Not good at socializing? That won't do." Eric patted Richard on the shoulder like an older brother. "We're all wizards from the same academy. When we go to the planar battlefield, we'll be brothers shoulder to shoulder."
"If you're not good at socializing, you'll suffer greatly on the battlefield."
Richard's mind raced, and he vaguely guessed Eric's intentions—he was probably there to invite him to some party or salon. So he nodded in agreement: "What you say makes sense, senior, but I'm new to the academy and haven't made many friends yet. Even if I wanted to socialize, I didn't have any channels."
Upon hearing Richard's words, Eric glanced at Chuck beside him and casually pulled out an exquisite invitation with sealing wax from his sleeve.
"The channels are still hard to get. I'm hosting an apprentice exchange meeting tonight. Junior, would you do me the honor of attending?"
