Chapter 45 The World Has Never Been Two-Dimensional (Please Read On)

College Hospital

"I'm fine," Kevin said weakly, his body wrapped in bandages.

As the first person to come into contact with the curse, Kevin suffered severe damage. In just a few dozen seconds, half of Kevin's body was charred, and most of his skin was peeled off. Through the gaps in the bandages, Richard could even see his bright red, still twitching muscles.

"The doctor said my external injuries are easy to treat, but the biggest problem is the loss of my life force. It will take a long time to replenish my life force, and I'm afraid I can't act as your agent during this time."

Richard nodded silently, then added:

"I'll handle this. Just focus on recovering. I'll keep your position as the acting agent for you if you want to continue in the future."

Kevin gave a weak smile: "Okay, save me a seat."

Richard turned and left the ward, Ellie following closely behind.

"Doctor, how much does the patient in room 32 need for medical treatment?" Richard asked in a low voice as he walked to the hospital counter.

"Number 32... Let me see. Minor Body Healing Technique: 500 coins; Limb Regeneration Technique: 1200 coins; Life Force Supplement: 300 coins; Total: 2000 Academy Coins. Would you like to pay with paper money or magic stones?"

Richard pulled a wad of college coins from his pocket, counted them, and handed twenty bills to the doctor.

Although Kevin's injuries were the price for becoming an agent, Kevin was very efficient in collecting materials for him during this time, and the two of them developed some friendship over time.

Two thousand academy coins were just the profit from five bottles of Focus Potion, so he gave them away. He and Kevin would be working together for a long time to come.

After leaving the hospital, Richard headed straight for the Central Black Tower.

On the fifty-sixth floor of the Black Tower, Chuck was lazing around drinking in his room as usual. But as soon as the door opened with a "bang," he quickly sat up straight.

"Senior sister, I'm researching... Richard, he startled me."

Upon seeing who it was, Chuck's body instantly collapsed.

"Junior brother, why are you making such a commotion? Who upset you?" After saying that, he saw Ellie behind Richard and sat up straight again.

"Isn't this Ellie? Please, have a seat, please have a seat," Chuck said with a smile.

"Senior, I need your help with something." Richard strode up to Chuck, the two separated by a table, but Chuck could still clearly feel his anger.

Chuck's smile faded. "What happened? Why are you so angry?"

Richard only answered with two words.

"curse."

"Okay, I understand." Chuck stood up and walked out of the room. "I'll go ask around with some friends, but I can't guarantee I'll get any information."

Richard followed closely behind and stuffed a wad of college coins into Chuck's hand.

"Senior brother, it's not good for you to spend money on this. My potion business is doing quite well now, so please accept the money."

Chuck gave Richard a deep look, stuffed the money into his pocket, and walked out of the room.

Three or four hours later, Chuck returned to his room, somewhat unsteady, and still smelled strongly of alcohol.

"I don't know exactly who the business was with at the corner alley." Chuck shook his head, and a layer of steam instantly rose from his body. After the steam dissipated, the entire room was filled with a rich aroma of alcohol.

"However, there's some news you can take a look at: Ulrich's Alchemy Shop didn't sell out of Focus Potions last month, and their clerks said that their young master, Joseph, was furious about it. Also, someone noticed that shortly after Joseph lost his temper, a man in black, about his height, entered the alley."

The meaning of Chuck's words is self-evident; the person who took action was most likely Joseph.

"Thank you for your help, senior brother."

Chuck waved his hand and then stuffed the stack of college coins back into Richard's hand.

"It's a minor issue. My junior brother has been cursed, how could I, as his senior brother, not help? This little bit of money is useless, take it back."

"No, senior brother, I have another favor to ask you for." Richard refused to accept the money.

"What kind of help?"

Richard took out a section of patterned black steel pipe from his waist; the silvery-white patterns on the pipe shimmered with a magical glow.

"I'd like you to put this thing inside the body of the Death Raven you made last time, this opening," Richard pointed to one end of the steel pipe, "and stick it out of the mouth. Senior brother, you should be fine with that, right?"

Chuck thought about Richard's description for a moment, then replied:

"No problem, it's just a minor surgery. But I have to remind you, don't be impulsive. If you get caught red-handed within the academy, it'll be very difficult for the teacher. No one can escape the bloody exam. You can do it during the exam."

If a fight breaks out on campus, the academy inspectors will intervene after a short while. And whether as a descendant of wizards or a formal apprentice alchemist, Joseph will never lack defensive magical armor.

It was virtually impossible for Richard to kill her with a single blow.

Moreover, even if he were to kill Richard with a single blow, he would not be able to escape the pursuit of the Overseers who would follow.

Richard smiled slightly at Chuck, but a cold glint flashed deep in his eyes.

There are still several years until the bloody exam, and he can't wait that long.

"Don't worry, senior brother. I know what I'm doing."

Richard handed the steel pipe to Chuck, then left the room with Ellie.

On the way back to the dorm, Ellie couldn't help but ask, "Richard, are you really going to use that thing? You haven't finished researching it yet, have you?"

Ellie was referring to the steel pipe Richard had just given to Chuck, which was the new magical armor Richard had been working on recently—Richard named it the Magic Gun.

"It's almost done. I've just been trying to find a cheap enough bullet," Richard said in a low voice. "But now, my experiments have been interrupted."

During this time, Ellie reduced the kinetic spell to twelve runes, but the maximum amount of magic power the spell could handle was also reduced to half of its original value. However, since Richard was making magical armor, excessive magic power would cause the materials to melt, so this drawback was actually just right.

Richard inscribed three kinetic energy spells on that section of steel pipe. According to his tests, a bullet enhanced by these three spells could easily penetrate a three-centimeter-thick steel plate within five hundred meters.

Richard glanced at the woods lining the road, where countless watchmen lurked. If a fight broke out between the apprentices, these watchmen would appear immediately to stop it.

But their surveillance has a huge loophole—the boundless sky above him.

The academy's inspectors patrol the academy, typically flying between one hundred and two hundred meters in the air. While this height isn't particularly high, apprentices within the academy rarely use levitation spells to fly that high. Furthermore, due to limitations in casting range, even if apprentices reached this height, they generally wouldn't pose much of a threat to those on the ground.

This creates the biggest blind spot for monitors.

The surveillance footage from 200 meters above was blank, and Richard could easily control the drone to fly 500 meters above the ground.

The world has never been two-dimensional.
