I can see experience bars after being transported to another world.

Lu Yuan indicated that he understood.

This passageway is much lower than the main hall, and it seems to be divided into two or three levels. Underfoot is jet-black marble, with light-white and other colored stones inlaid in the surface. Various portraits and statues are hung on the walls on both sides, and an electric light is lit every now and then.

The senior student stopped in front of a wooden door on the left side of the passage.

Above the door were three words: Pharmacy Area.

"This is the potion rest area," the senior student said, turning to the side. "Wait here while I notify the knight. Just wait a moment."

Lu Yuan thanked her and watched her return the way she came before pushing open the door and going inside.

The wooden door was very thick, and the door panel was engraved with the Knight Academy's exclusive pattern, which was a bunch of ears of wheat, just like the ears of wheat in the Tower of Abundance.

The room was quite large, with several tables piled high with books and documents, a few chairs scattered around, and portraits and paintings hanging on the walls. In the center of the wall hung an unidentified statue.

The most eye-catching thing was the several sections of pipes by the wall. The pipes protruded from the wall and then turned into another wall. Lu Yuan moved closer and felt that the pipe walls were warm, indicating that there should be water and heat passing through inside.

It seems that the Knight Academy has begun to try to develop technology, and this room is where it has taken its initial shape.

It was warmer inside than outside, and there was something like a blanket draped over the chairs. Lu Yuan picked one up and sat down.

Lu Yuan didn't have to wait long before footsteps came from outside the door.

The man who entered was a middle-aged man with a small lamp hanging from his waist. When Lu Yuan looked up, he realized that he was the Knight with the Lantern.

The Knight with the Lantern was also taken aback when he saw Lu Yuan. He walked over and sat down opposite Lu Yuan. "You've passed the intermediate-level potion-making certification?"

Lu Yuan nodded.

"I didn't expect you to have this level of skill," the Lantern Knight's voice was still deep and resonant. "Alright, I won't waste any more time. Let me explain our mission for now. By the way, are you sure you want to participate in this mission? This mission might be a bit dangerous."

"I confirm my participation," Lu Yuan said, indicating that he understood. He paused for a moment and then added, "But you need to give me a little more Knight's Tokens."

The Knight with the Lantern smiled as he listened to his conditions. "No problem. Let me give you a brief overview of the mission first, and then you can decide whether you want to participate."

"There has been some trouble in the North recently, as you should know. There is a group of heretics active there, and they seem to be up to something. Many people have fallen victim to them. Their methods seem to have been corrupted to some extent, so much so that we must now correct them."

"Moreover, they are also spreading some very strange potion. Our mission this time is to reverse-engineer this potion, find out what its ingredients are, and then make a corresponding antidote. You can think of it as a potion that can alleviate or neutralize the effects of the potion."

"On this journey, you may encounter some heretics who make you uncomfortable, as well as corrupted members of our people. Their appearance is... well, you should be prepared."

Lu Yuan stated that these are not problems.

He roughly knew in his heart that this mission was indeed similar to what he had guessed. Moreover, he was confident that after his level of pharmacology was high, he could directly observe what medicinal materials were used in some ordinary potion formulas. Although he could not directly see the heretical potions, he could probably tell some things. As long as he had enough time, he could definitely deduce them in reverse.

Most importantly, a wealth of experience awaits him on this trip. Lu Yuan roared inwardly, "Experience, here I come!"

Of course, on the surface, he remained the same, only pausing for a moment before asking his question.

"Knight with the Lamp, I have a few questions. Is the effect of the contamination controllable? Is there a risk of infection from contact with it? And those medicines, if proper isolation is done, are there any major problems? Why are you so serious? Is there something I don't know?"

The Knight with the Lantern listened and smiled slightly.

"Very good, you are very smart. Yes, there is indeed a risk of being contaminated, because the heretics use some unknown methods. Their contamination is not contact contamination, but some kind of intellectual contamination. Even now, I cannot tell you with 100% certainty that I can prevent you from being contaminated."

"But one thing is certain: this place is one of the most heavily guarded areas of the Knight Academy. The inscriptions and protections we've implemented are absolutely top-notch. If we still can't isolate ourselves under these circumstances, then I can only say that there's nothing we can do; the risk still exists."

"It's alright," Oden's voice echoed in Lu Yuan's mind.

Heretics, which you call heretics at this time, are corrupted primarily through contact with reason, and secondly through special, physical corruption. When you encounter heretics, I can tell you what kind of corruption they have.

"Besides, you study forbidden subjects, so don't worry. Most forms of corruption won't affect you. Plus, you have the Sea of Knowledge within you. If it does get corrupted, you can cleanse it. I don't believe it. And how strong can a heretic be that can be caught?"

Oden spoke nonchalantly, but he added at the end, "However, you still need to be careful. If it gets contaminated, it will be very troublesome."

Lu Yuan felt more confident, which meant that he could still accept the task.

"No problem," Lu Yuan agreed immediately, then paused, before circling back to the previous point, "But regarding the Knight's Token..."

"Rest assured, Knight," the Lantern Knight continued, "You're involved in this mission, so you'll still have to attend your classes. Besides that, you'll receive one Knight's Token for each time you come here and show up."

"Your task mainly involves deciphering and reverse-engineering the formula for the potion used by the heretics, as well as concocting a formula to alleviate the effects of the potion. If your idea is adopted, you will be rewarded with five to ten Knight Tokens. If you can completely deduce it, the amount will be much larger, but that is practically impossible."

"But if you make some significant contributions and substantial progress, you will be rewarded with between ten and twenty Knight Tokens. This reward is very generous. As long as you can produce something, the academy will not treat you unfairly. There is no time limit for this mission, which will continue until the heresy is over, so you will be able to obtain at least one Knight Token every day."

Hearing this, Lu Yuan no longer hesitated and said, "No problem."

The Lantern Knight nodded at him, took out a contract, and pushed it towards him.

It was a light yellow contract, made of an unknown type of leather, and felt rather thick to the touch.

"You need to sign this contract," said the Knight with the Lantern. "Because it involves the safety of the North, everyone involved needs to sign it. This contract has a binding effect. Anyone who signs the contract cannot reveal these matters, especially those related to the counter-potion of heresy."

"You'll receive a lot of counter-solutions. If you reveal these solutions and other information, you'll face some backlash. You understand, right?"

"No problem," Lu Yuan said, indicating his understanding.

He picked up the contract and read it line by line. The terms were clearly written and matched what he had heard.

Oden also looked through it, and mentally nodded, "Sign it, no problem."

Lu Yuan then picked up the pen and readily signed his name on the light yellow leather contract.
