Courtyard House: My Time Travel is a Bit Too Strong
Chapter 664 The Tomb of Prince Gumo
As soon as the car stopped in the town, Section Chief Zhao and his men came to greet us, their faces beaming with smiles.
At the police station, An Liman was invited inside. After a few words of persuasion and pressure, he nodded and agreed to lead the way.
Lin Quan wandered around the town alone, buying plenty of dry food. His backpack was bulging with dried meat and sealed water bags.
Before leaving Beijing, he had already stored a complete set of field supplies on the smart watch on his wrist.
After staying at the guesthouse for two nights, the team drove into the desert.
"Brother Quan, that foreign girl is probably interested in you." Wang Kaixuan leaned closer and lowered his voice.
"How did you figure that out?" Lin Quan asked.
"She's looking at you, she's lost in thought," Hu Bayi interjected.
"Stop with the nonsense." Lin Quan didn't turn around, but simply wrapped the camel reins halfway around her left wrist. "She's just curious."
There were too many people and too many rules outside. He knew that now was not the time to talk about this.
Yang Xueli is tall with sharp shoulders, a slim waist and long legs, which is indeed to his liking.
"Triumphant return, keep an eye on Anliman."
"Don't worry, I've been on guard against him for a while," Wang Kaixuan nodded.
As Yang Xueli approached quickly, Hu Bayi gave Wang Kaixuan a wink, and the two turned their camels around and headed towards Anliman.
"Mr. Lin, would you mind if we talked?" Yang Xueli asked.
"Hmm, what are you talking about?"
"You are not like ordinary expedition teams."
"What makes you say that?"
"Wang Kaixuan...has he been to quite a few tombs, hasn't he?"
"Oh?" Lin Quan raised his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips, neither confirming nor denying.
"What are you laughing at?"
"I remembered something from the past."
"Can you tell me about it?"
Lin Quan told a short joke.
Yang Xueli couldn't hold back and burst out laughing, her shoulders trembling slightly.
The yellow sand stretches endlessly, with scattered withered grass lying on the sand surface, and the wind blows up gray-white dust.
Ye Yixin hummed a tune, Chu Jian clapped along, and Sadi Peng tapped the camel bells with his dagger in response.
Lin Quan had a cigarette dangling from his lips; the flame flickered in the wind, and the smoke dissipated quickly.
Having lived in this illusion for too long, the days I've actually spent walking on the sand are actually few and far between.
When the wind rises, the sand flies; when the wind stops, the sand settles.
During a break, Yang Xueli raised her camera and snapped several photos.
Lin Quan climbed a sand dune and looked around.
"According to the methods of feng shui site surveying, we cannot even see where the tomb entrance is."
Anliman wanted to back out, so he subtly hinted that Hu Bayi had a poor sense of direction and would eventually get lost in the sand.
Lin Quan looked up at the sky, then calculated with his fingers for a moment before suddenly turning around: "Pack your things, let's leave immediately."
"Brother Quan, what happened?" Wang Kaixuan immediately put away the water bottle.
"You really saw it clearly?" Hu Bayi narrowed his eyes.
"A sandstorm is coming," Lin Quan said in a low voice. "If we don't move now, we'll be trapped here and die."
"Mr. Lin, do you have any evidence?" Yang Xueli pressed.
"I said it, it was I who said it; you believe it, it is you who believe it."
"Which way?" Hu Bayi had already led the camel.
"Over there," Lin Quan pointed.
The group quickly gathered their equipment, mounted their horses, and headed in that direction.
They escaped just in time, taking refuge in a sheltered rocky hollow before the storm hit.
All the supplies being transported were intact; not a single item was lost, and none were covered by sand.
"Mr. Lin, how did you know in advance that a storm was going to break out?" Yang Xueli breathed a sigh of relief and asked immediately.
"I have quite a few miscellaneous tasks," Lin Quan replied casually, without saying anything more.
After eating dry rations for two days, his mouth felt bland. Lin Quan caught a glimpse of a gazelle running by in the distance, with several wolves roaming nearby, so he grabbed his short knife and left the camp.
"Where are you going?" Anliman looked up.
"Get some meat to eat," Lin Quan said as he walked back.
"No, we can't touch the living things outside." Anliman immediately stood up to stop them.
"It's not like it's protected, why can't I touch it?" Before the words were even finished, the person had already taken a step and walked out.
"Brother Quan, I'll go with you!" Wang Kaixuan grabbed the hunting rifle leaning against the camel and quickly followed.
Lin Quan walked straight toward the pack of wolves and sheep... The wind was strong, but they huddled together to avoid it, without disturbing each other.
As soon as he approached, the wolves bristled, growled, and pounced.
With a flash of light, one wolf fell to the ground; the second had barely leaped up when its neck was slashed open. The remaining wolves turned and ran, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
He casually toppled a lone gazelle, tucked his dagger back into his waistband, dragged the gazelle with his left hand, pulled the wolf with his right, and turned to walk back.
Peel, chop, blanch, add seasonings, and stew. The flames flicker steadily, the broth boils, and the aroma of the meat quickly fills the air.
"Brother Quan, you still have seasonings in your bag?" Wang Kaixuan leaned closer to smell them, a little confused.
Hidden beneath that smartwatch was a separate space filled with tons of everyday items. If you were to take them all out, you wouldn't even need a backpack… but that would be too conspicuous, so you could only take them out little by little.
As soon as the meat came out of the pot, its aroma made everyone's mouths water. Several people sat around and shared it, gnawing and drinking as they ate until sweat beaded on their foreheads.
"Roast the rest of the meat into dried meat; we can use it as supplies on the road," Lin Quan instructed, wiping his hands.
While digging a pit to bury several scattered human bones, the shovel clanged against something hard. Digging away the loose sand revealed the head of a stone statue.
Chen Jiuren squatted down to examine it closely and recognized it as a giant eye stone statue. He then explained in a low voice.
"Don't touch it! Touching it will bring divine punishment!" Anliman quickly waved his hand.
"Divine punishment? I believe in tangible things." Lin Quan's tone was flat, his eyes sweeping across the ground... His Golden Eyes of Insight had already scanned the ground: there was no trace of army ants, only a few ant holes under the base of the stone statue.
"Exactly, those old ideas should have been thrown away long ago," Wang Kaixuan nodded in agreement.
The next morning, countless army ants crawled out of the stone statue's eyes and trickled down the cracks in the stone.
"Pack your things and leave right now!" Lin Quan raised his voice.
"Mr. Lin, what happened?" Yang Xueli immediately stood up.
"Army ants".
"Where?" Hu Bayi asked.
"I saw the first one emerge from the eye of the stone statue with my own eyes."
The group grabbed their packs, led their camels, and set off. Anliman led the way, navigating several stretches of quicksand before successfully reaching the ancient well.
Hu Bayi looked up at the stars for a while, then took out his compass and adjusted it repeatedly. Finally, he pointed to the well opening and said, "There's a tomb down there."
"Old Hu, I'm not going down. You take Professor Chen and the others to explore," Lin Quan said.
"Huh?" Hu Bayi was taken aback.
"There's an ancient tomb down there, haven't you always wanted to see it?"
"Brother Quan, how did you know?"
"When it comes to feng shui, whether it's a house for living or a grave, how can you do without it?" Lin Quan casually brushed it off.
"Mr. Lin, are you sure there really is a tomb down there?" Yang Xueli pressed.
"Believe it or not, Lao Hu himself has figured it out."
Hu Bayi secured the rope and lowered himself into the well. About fifteen minutes later, he climbed back up, wiping the dust off his face: "There is indeed a tomb passage, with a regular structure and ancient Kucha patterns carved on the lintel."
"Mr. Lin, what do you think?" Yang Xueli turned and asked.
Lin Quan quickly calculated with his fingers and smiled: "It's almost certainly the tomb of Prince Gu Mo."
"How...did you figure that out?" Chen Jiuren frowned slightly.
"Feng shui, location."
"You can also perform divination?" Chen Jiuren stared at him for two seconds.
