Courtyard House: My Time Travel is a Bit Too Strong
Chapter 665 The Queen of Jingjue's Cheeks
"I only know a little bit." Lin Quan's expression remained unchanged.
They set up camp on the spot that night. The next morning, Chen Jiuren, Hu Bayi, and Hao Aiguo went down the well to investigate.
"Want a sip?" Lin Quan handed over a small bottle of baijiu and tore open a packet of beef jerky.
"We're friends, of course we have to drink." Anliman took it, unscrewed the cap, and took a small sip.
"You're not interested in that tomb in the well at all?" Lin Quan asked.
"What are you curious about? You can't take anything you dig up in the Black Desert, not even a copper coin. No greedy person ever comes back unscathed." Anli exhaled a puff of smoke, his voice low and earnest.
Chewing meat, drinking wine, and smoking, more than an hour passed in the blink of an eye.
Lin Quan found a flat sandy spot, spread out a cloth, lay down on his back, crossed his legs, and stretched out in a relaxed posture.
After waiting for several hours, Hu Bayi and the others finally climbed out of the well, covered in dirt, but their faces couldn't hide their excitement.
"Brother Quan, this is amazing!" Wang Kaixuan exclaimed as soon as he saw him, "It really is the tomb of the Prince of Gumo!"
"So what if you guessed right? Is it really necessary to yell like that?" Lin Quan sat up and patted the sand off his pants.
"How exactly did you calculate that?"
"Feng shui, location."
As dusk fell, a campfire was lit. Several people sat around it, brewing tea and roasting naan bread while chatting.
Anliman strolled over and added a dry branch to the fire: "Are you still going to go on?"
"The ancient city of Jingjue is just ahead..." Hao Aiguo's voice was strained, but his eyes were bright.
Anliman shook his head and listed several difficulties, including water source, quicksand, wind direction, and supply, each sentence more practical than the last.
Chen Jiuren didn't say anything, but kept tapping his knee with his fingers; Hao Aiguo stood up directly; everyone else also tensed up, and no one said "turn around".
As dawn broke, the group continued their advance. There were several fresh drag marks on the ground, along with a broken crowbar, clearly left behind by the tomb raiders during their hasty retreat the previous night.
Lin Quan glanced around but didn't stop. He knew what would happen next, and right now he was only thinking about the Kunlun Divine Wood... the contents of that coffin had to be completely replicated.
Even if the tomb raiders were still alive, they wouldn't be able to cause any trouble. The fifth level of the Dragon Elephant Undying Technique has been completed; bullets only leave white marks on his body. With his Foundation Establishment cultivation, he can truly be described as "walking sideways" in this world.
As the sun began to set, the silhouette of the Black Mountain loomed into view. The foot of the mountain was eerily quiet.
"Something's not right up ahead," Lin Quan said.
"Brother Quan, what did you see?" Wang Kaixuan immediately leaned closer.
"The camel stopped and refused to move forward even half a step."
Hu Bayi squatted down and parted the withered grass: "There are three bodies lying there."
Wang Kaixuan's eyes lit up as he stared at the assault rifle clutched in the hand of one of the corpses: "Hey, they actually have one."
Lin Quan stepped forward, drawing his short sword and sheathing it instantly. The black-scaled serpent that had sprung out of the crevice in the rock had its head severed at the root and landed askew.
After clearing away the other mobs that were wandering around, he picked up an assault rifle and two magazines. Wang Kaixuan and Hu Bayi each picked up one and grabbed the scattered ammunition.
After passing through the canyon, the group rested on the spot.
"Found it." Chen Jiuren's voice was strained.
"We've arrived." Yang Xueli raised her hand to wipe the corner of her eye.
"Looking at the mountain makes one's horse run itself to death"... It looked so close, but in reality, it would take another two hours of walking. By the time we finally stood outside the broken walls of the ancient city, it was already getting dark.
Half of the city gate had collapsed, and gray-white withered vines grew among the rubble. Inside, Chen Jiuren touched the stone tablets and knocked on the walls, muttering about the dates and star charts. Lin Quan didn't join in the fun; he just stared up at the snake-shaped sphere hanging from the dome, hands in his pockets, watching them work.
In the center of the stone platform sat a jade ball, its surface etched with fine patterns. Wang Kaixuan reached out to grab it, but his arm was heavy and he couldn't budge it an inch.
"Fatty, that jade pendant you're wearing around your neck..." Hu Bayi pointed to a groove on the edge of the jade ball, "The shape matches."
Wang Kaixuan tore off the jade pendant and pressed it into the groove. The jade ball vibrated slightly and slowly rotated half a circle. Without saying a word, he grabbed it and hugged it to his chest: "It's mine now!"
"Retreat!" Lin Quan shouted in a low voice.
Before the words were even finished, dozens of black snakes plummeted down from the height. Gunshots rang out, and flashes of light erupted one after another.
After the snakes were cleared away, Hu Bayi squatted by the stone platform, examining the mechanism. After a moment, he turned the hidden shaft. The stone platform sank, and a vertical entrance appeared in the ground.
Descending the stone steps, the tunnel becomes deep and secluded. At its end lies an underground river, its surface as smooth as a mirror.
"Brother Quan, how do we get across?" Hu Bayi had just asked when Wang Kaixuan had already swayed across the water by stepping on several protruding blue bricks.
"Old Hu, there's a bridge down there!" he shouted, turning around.
After crossing the river, the bottom of the pit was covered with gold coins. The gold gleamed mixed with bronzeware, agate beads, and gold-inlaid goblets, making it dazzling under the flashlight beam.
"This batch of things... are all national treasures." Chen Jiuren found Hu Bayi, his voice trembling.
Lin Quan bypassed the pile of valuables, took out a bottle of liquor from his backpack, tilted his head back and took two gulps. His Adam's apple bobbed up and down, and the smell of alcohol mixed with the dust spread out.
Further on, a stone beam spans the abyss, above which hangs a corpse-fragrant devil's tongue, its stem tinged with purple, its flower buds half-open; further up, a dark coffin lies quietly in the center of the beam... made of Kunlun divine wood.
"There's something up there," Yang Xueli said, looking up.
As soon as he finished speaking, Hu Bayi, Sadi Peng, and Chu Jian stopped in their tracks, their eyes widened, and their feet seemed to be rooted to the spot.
Lin Quan raised his hand and fired a shot.
The gunshot echoed, jolting the three men awake, their faces blank with confusion.
"Brother Quan, what's wrong?" Wang Kaixuan rubbed his temples.
"Corpse-scented devil's tongue." Lin Quan said, then paused, "I'll go take a look."
"Be careful!" Hu Bayi had just shouted when Lin Quan leaped onto the stone beam. Enveloped in true energy, he moved with lightning speed, slashing down with three sword strikes. The konjac stems snapped, the flowers withered, and the sap splashed onto the stone, hissing and smoking.
He took out the treasure basin, pointed it at the coffin, and as the light shone, an identical Kunlun divine wood coffin was placed inside. Then he lifted the coffin lid... The Queen of Jingjue lay quietly inside, her face covered by a silver-patterned mask, her skin as smooth as a freshly peeled lychee, her features vividly depicted.
"The mask didn't fall off, and the person didn't decay." Lin Quan's divine sense swept over the scene, and his heart stirred slightly. "So that's how it is... The illusion in the play didn't even have a chance to take effect."
He reached out and pinched the Queen's cheek; it felt cool and supple. Then he closed the coffin, turned around, and jumped off the stone beam.
"Brother Quan, what's it like inside?" Wang Kaixuan asked as he approached.
"There's a stunningly beautiful woman lying here." Lin Quan smiled.
"Lying in a coffin in broad daylight? Who are you kidding!" Wang Kaixuan scoffed.
Lin Quan didn't explain further. He had already probed with his divine sense... but the person was fast asleep, breathing deeply, with the soul fire still burning.
The group then entered the prophet's tomb.
Because Lin Quan destroyed the Corpse Fragrance Devil's Flower and broke the illusion array in advance, the prophecy was completely messed up: Chen Jiuren was clear-headed, Hao Aiguo was unharmed, and they didn't even see the shadow of the Other Shore Flower.
Not long after they left the city, a large subsequent exploration team marched into the ancient city. The city was filled with gold and silver, which solved the country's urgent need.
Upon returning to Beijing, Yang Xueli took out nine stacks of US dollars; the banknotes were brand new, and the ink was still wet.
Lin Quan didn't refuse; he took a stack and handed the rest to Hu Bayi for distribution.
The following morning, Yang Xueli came to visit.
