Journey to the West: Upon seeing the Yellow-Eyebrowed Demon, why not pay homage?
Chapter 65: Guanyin in Despair! [Second update, please continue reading~]
"That's right, legitimacy is key!" Donglai Buddha sighed again, his mood low.
A promising talent finally emerged from the lineage of the Future Buddha, but just as he was about to flourish, he was suppressed by powerful forces.
As the head of the lineage, how could he not feel distressed by this?
Huang Mei pursed her lips, silently took out the letter of engagement written in blood by Sanzang from her clothes, and handed it to Xiang Qian:
"If we absolutely need a legitimate reason... Master, how about this?"
"Isn't this the letter I wrote to you?" Donglai Buddha asked in surprise.
"Look at the other side," Huang Mei said.
Donglai Buddha raised his hand and took the letter, looking at the back, where he saw clearly written:
The Tang Dynasty imperial edict sent the monk Tripitaka, who traveled west to seek the Dharma, to write in blood, bowing before the throne of the compassionate Buddha who came from the east, and paying homage to the Venerable Yellow-Eyebrow.
We invite the Venerable One to be our Dharma Protector on our journey to the West, to accompany us in seeking the true scriptures. We only hope that the Venerable One, with His enlightened Dharma power, will protect our spiritual path and our meditative mind. We will share our days and nights, and bear both joy and sorrow together.
The second covenant is based on cause and effect, and is as weighty as Mount Sumeru: If the Venerable One keeps his promise and follows me, from this day forward until we reach Vulture Peak, this humble monk, the Tripitaka Master, will never drive him away, and will certainly not fail him.
If I break this oath, may heavenly fire burn my body, heavenly thunder destroy my soul, and may I never be reborn for all eternity.
Seeking a lover: Tang Sanzang.
Oath-taker: Tang Sanzang.
……
Donglai Buddha: "???"
At this moment, the only sound on the mountaintop was the wind.
The next moment, the Buddha's tightly furrowed brows relaxed.
"Hahaha, hahahaha..."
Before long, the Buddha from the East looked up at the sky and laughed loudly, venting all the anger he had suffered in the Western Paradise in this Lesser Western Paradise.
This is the ultimate triumph!
Huang Mei smiled along, until the other person had finished laughing, before asking, "Master, is this feasible?"
Donglai Buddha held the letter of appointment in one hand and slammed the other heavily on Huangmei's shoulder, nearly shattering the latter's shoulder armor.
"It works! It's absolutely possible! Hahaha, how did you do that?"
Huang Mei endured the pain and silently retreated: "It was just luck."
"What a stroke of luck! What a stroke of luck!"
Donglai Buddha said happily, "You come with me now... never mind, I'll go see those three myself, so you won't incur any more jealousy."
Having said that, he didn't even listen to Huang Mei's response, and took the letter of appointment and soared into the sky, which shows how anxious he was.
Huang Mei blinked, suddenly realizing that this cunning master wasn't entirely devoid of warmth after all...
Western sky.
Great Thunder Temple.
Donglai Buddha flew swiftly to the door, took a deep breath to regain his composure, held the letter of appointment in his hand, and strode inside with his head held high and chest out.
"How is it?" Buddha asked loudly from the golden lotus seat.
Donglai Buddha smiled slightly, said nothing more, and directly pasted the letter of appointment in the air!
Tathagata, Dipankara, Guanyin, and all the Buddhas looked at the letter of appointment. After reading the contents, they all looked as if they had seen a ghost.
Tripitaka...
Are you crazy?!
The Buddha from the East took in all the Buddhas' performances, and a strong sense of exhilaration surged from his heart to the top of his head, making his smile even brighter.
He still didn't say anything.
There's no need to say anything more.
This letter of appointment was like a slap across the face of every Buddha before me!
The Buddha remained silent.
Its once powerful momentum gradually declined.
Guanyin closed her eyes in despair, unwilling to believe it was true.
Dipankara stood there stunned for a while, his gaze sweeping over Guanyin's face before he slowly rose and said, "Venerable One, this old monk takes his leave."
The reason he was here was that Huang Mei had no legitimate reason to interfere in the Journey to the West plan; but now that he had a legitimate reason, what right did he have to stay here?
"Take care, Buddha," Tathagata said calmly.
Ran Deng slowly rose to his feet. As he passed the Donglai Buddha, he suddenly stopped and invited, "Come and sit with me when you turn around."
The Buddha's pupils contracted, but he showed no other reaction.
The Buddha from the East pressed his palms together and said politely, "I'm sure I'll be bothering you."
Randeng smiled, took a step, and instantly walked out of the Great Thunderclap Temple.
Donglai Buddha silently opened his hands, then retrieved the letter of appointment: "World Honored One, this humble monk takes his leave."
While the Buddha forced him, he also genuinely gave him a dignified treatment.
At that moment, he regained his dignity.
"Go," Buddha said indifferently.
The Buddha from the East smiled slightly, glanced at Guanyin who still had her eyes closed and refused to believe reality, and walked briskly out of the Mahavira Hall...
Not long after.
He returned from the Western Paradise to the Lesser Western Paradise, smiling as he looked at the disciples who came to pay their respects. He handed back the letter of appointment and said, "Huang Mei, your master has finally achieved great success."
Huang Mei accepted the letter of appointment with both hands and congratulated his master, saying, "Congratulations, Master."
Donglai Buddha raised his hand and patted his arm: "Now you have a legitimate reason to do so, but the extermination of the Buddhist lineage in the present world will definitely be doubled."
In the past, your only opponent might have been Guanyin (the Bodhisattva of Compassion), but the future is uncertain; you should be prepared for that.
Huang Mei nodded emphatically: "Disciple understands."
Donglai Buddha smiled and said, "Good that you understand. Your master is leaving now."
"Respectfully seeing off Master..." Huang Mei bowed.
at the same time.
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva slowly arrived at the formless realm, landing before the gate of Zen Buddhism. Looking around, he saw:
The entrance was covered with fallen leaves, and two thousand-year-old ginkgo trees stood facing each other, the left tree with golden leaves covering the ground, and the right tree half green and half yellow.
When the wind blows, the leaves fall silently, yet they seem to take shape like a chant.
Ascending the steps and reaching the gate, Samantabhadra called out with a smile, "Where is Bodhidharma?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a slender monk, as thin as an ancient pine tree, wearing an old hemp robe, with eyes as calm as an ancient well, holding a reed branch, appeared in a ray of light and smiled, saying, "Greetings, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra."
Puxian smiled and nodded: "I apologize for my intrusion."
"You flatter me, please come in," Bodhidharma said, turning around.
Samantabhadra slowly entered the gate, looked at the tranquil scenery around him, and exclaimed, "Your temple is indeed a good place for cultivation."
Bodhidharma smiled and said, "As I get older, I appreciate tranquility more and more."
Sensing the underlying meaning in his words, Puxian smiled and said:
"I've come not to disturb your meditation, nor to ask for your help, but because I've inadvertently come across some Zen sayings that seem to resonate with your lineage."
In fact, he came here for two purposes.
Firstly, he wanted to use Bodhidharma's help to clarify whether the Zen saying was Huangmei's own practice or just hearsay.
Secondly, he came specifically to do Bodhidharma a favor, since these Zen sayings might inspire him.
The Heavenly Court is a society based on human relationships, and so is the Western Paradise.
The Zen school of Buddhism, which does not contend or fight, is also a target of various forces vying to win over!
Bodhidharma asked curiously, "What Zen saying?"
Without wasting any words, Puxian recounted Huangmei's words one by one, until Bodhidharma's expression changed slightly and his eyes shone with a strange light.
Not long after.
After reciting all of Huangmei's Zen sayings, Puxian smiled and asked, "Is this from your Zen school?"
"Yes!" Bodhidharma asked, "May I ask, Bodhisattva, from whom did these Zen words come?"
"A disciple of the Buddha from the East, the Yellow-Eyebrowed Boy," said Samantabhadra. "By the way, you may not know, but he has now escaped to the mortal realm and become a false Buddha."
Bodhidharma: "..."
He vaguely understood Puxian's scheme, but deep down he really wanted to meet this fake Buddha who had become a demon, yet was well-versed in Zen principles!
