Peninsula: From Water Injection to Stardom

Chapter 149 Those Gangsters

The news that TCCandler announced Kang Yeon as the world's best coach this year was immediately forwarded and reported by many South Korean media outlets back to South Korea.

Actually, this list isn't very authoritative. Other foreign media outlets have also made similar rankings to varying degrees, but this one has the biggest voice and receives the most attention.

In fact, Chinese fandoms are not very enthusiastic about this kind of ranking, nor do they pay much attention to it. However, in South Korea, this list has a considerable influence.

Last year, after becoming the world's most beautiful woman, Nana's exposure immediately increased, and her resources and treatment also improved significantly compared to before.

The news of Kang Yeon-jin becoming the world's best coach immediately sparked heated discussions on South Korean online forums.

On websites such as NAVER, theqoo, and Pann, many related trending posts appeared within just a few minutes.

"To be honest, Jiang Yan's face is really something else. His appearance is absolutely legendary, a true flower boy."

"I'm not a fan, but I'm not too surprised by this result. It's well-deserved to be number one."

"World's most handsome man? Speechless. TOP is clearly more handsome, but he's only ranked third. This list is getting more and more unfair."

"

"The top scorer was actually overshadowed by a Chinese person? Unbelievable! Are the judges blind?"

"A Chinese person has become the world's most handsome/beautiful person? What credibility does this list have left?"

"It must be his fan group that rigged the votes on a large scale, that's the only thing I can think of."

Honestly, I don't think he's that handsome.

"Objectively speaking, this list is based on popularity and fan votes. His fan base is huge, so talking about vote rigging is a bit sour."

"When Nana won the title of world's most beautiful woman, everyone said she was authoritative, so why are people questioning it now that Jiang Yan has won? The double standard is too obvious KKKKKK"

"Don't even mention those ugly plastic surgeons like TOP. Our oppa's natural face blows away all those plastic-surgery Korean men."

"Seeing so many people jumping up and down makes me feel relieved. I'm really sorry, oppa is too popular, so popular that it makes you all jealous."

Approval, doubt, jealousy, ridicule, rebuttal, and other voices intertwined on social media.

Most Korean women didn't think Kang Yeon was unattractive; they were more focused on comparing the appearances of the other people on the list with the top-ranked man, trying to determine who was better.

In contrast, Korean men almost universally rejected and belittled Kang Yeon's appearance, even criticizing him for not deserving to be on the list.

There's no way they can accept that a Chinese man surpasses all other Korean male celebrities to become the world's most handsome man.

This voice is quite significant, but it only accounts for a small portion of the entire fandom.

To put it bluntly, the fandom is dominated by female fans. Who would care what a guy like you says unless he says something nice? They might only pay attention to you if they're in the mood.

As for outsiders, they have no right to speak. If they express any opinions, a group of people will immediately try to control the comments and drown them out in the sea of people.

It can be said that Kang Yeon has single-handedly captured the majority of the attention of the South Korean entertainment industry today.

As for him personally, he did not make any public response after the news was released.

Even if he bought the World Teachers' Association, the best response at this moment is to remain silent.

The backstage area of SBS television station, in TWICE's waiting room.

While receiving makeup from a stylist, Yoo Jeongyeon was constantly scrolling through messages on social media on her phone.

"Damn it, are these guys blind?!" Yu Dingyan muttered angrily at her phone screen, seemingly unable to hold it in any longer.

Her complaint was overheard by Park Jihyo, who was sitting next to her. She turned her head slightly and asked, "Unnie, what's wrong—"

"What's wrong? Did you see some bad news?"

Yoo Jeongyeon explained, "It's because after oppa topped the list of most handsome faces, a lot of 'hot sauce guys' online said he was ugly. Isn't that just blatantly lying?"

After hearing this, Park Jihyo smiled and comforted her, "Unnie, calm down. Those bastards are just so annoying. Didn't they say similar things to oppa before? To be honest, they just envy oppa's face. If they can't have him, they'll slander him."

"Vest, Jihyo, you're absolutely right, they're just envious of oppa."

"Don't take it too seriously, Unnie. No matter what they say, it won't change any facts."

"Of course I know, it's just that there are so many people saying things like that in the comments section that I couldn't control my emotions for a moment —"

The two chattered away without any attempt to conceal their conversation, and the other members sitting not far away overheard it to varying degrees.

Mina quietly took out her phone and checked her social media. Soon, her brows furrowed even more.

The negative comments Korean men made about her boyfriend online were far more severe than she had imagined.

After hearing the conversation on LINE with her old friends, Lim Nayeon also got up and joined in the chat, joining together to condemn the Korean men who were smearing Kang Yeon.

Perhaps sensing that the three of them were talking a bit loudly, Son Chaeyoung, who was originally streaming live on Vlive by herself, immediately picked up her phone and walked to a corner of the waiting room, afraid that the three unnies' somewhat violent remarks would be heard by the ONCEs in the live stream.

However, Son Chae-young did not intend to stop the three sisters from continuing to speak. If she hadn't been live-streaming, she would have joined in defending Kang Yeon.

Meanwhile, after noticing Son Chaeyoung's actions, Kim Da-hyun seemed to understand her plan and simply went to her side to cooperate. The two chatted with the fans in the live broadcast room, one sentence after another.

After talking for about ten minutes, Lim Nayeon finally took a break.

But it wasn't that the three of them were tired; it was because the stylist had finished doing the makeup and styling for Jeongyeon and Jihyo, and now they needed to make room for the other members who hadn't had their makeup done yet.

The members who are about to get their makeup done are Son Chaeyoung and Kim Dahyun, who are currently live-streaming.

After Yoo Jeongyeon and Park Jihyo got up and took over the live stream, they greeted the fans in the live stream room in a very natural way.

However, after interacting for a while, Park Jihyo, who was in charge of watching the live stream, subconsciously read out a comment that read, "Who do you think is more handsome, Kang Yeon or TOP?"

Clearly, the person who posted this comment had also seen the World's Best Man selection, otherwise they wouldn't have asked such a clearly purposeful question.

However, Park Ji-hyo also had her own response in mind.

The company has taught us how to answer this kind of question during a live stream. Simply saying "Both of the seniors are very handsome" can effectively avoid unnecessary trouble.

However, before she could finish speaking, Yoo Jeongyeon readily answered for Park Jihyo: "Is there even a question? It's definitely Kang Yeon oppa."

"When Park Jihyo heard Yoo Jeongyeon's answer, her heart skipped a beat."

Unnie, what are you doing?! How could you say what's on your mind like that?!
