Peninsula: From Water Injection to Stardom

Chapter 16 Almost an All-Chinese Team

In the practice room, after the music playing from the speakers ended again, Jiang Yan stopped what he was doing and raised his arm to wipe the sweat from his forehead.

Then, he walked to the corner, picked up his water bottle, took a few sips, and glanced at the time.

Before we knew it, it was already past 6 o'clock.

Suddenly, a commotion came from the doorway. Jiang Yan looked through the half-open door and saw that people from the practice room next door had come out and were passing by him.

Although he wasn't very familiar with them, he still recognized them as CLC, the girl group that Cube Entertainment is set to debut this year.

The other person is probably pausing practice to have dinner at this time.

Without paying much attention, Jiang Yan looked away, rested for a while, and then got up to continue arranging the movement path.

Although it was lunchtime, his plan was to stay in the practice room for another two hours before leaving Cube, and then just grab a quick bite at his dorm later.

Jiang Yan continued choreographing in front of the mirror, staying in the practice room until nearly 9 o'clock before stopping, tidying up briefly, and leaving downstairs.

On his way back, he also received a message from Kim Seolhyun via Kakao.

The other party meant that AOA's team schedule would temporarily end after tomorrow, and she would have a few days to rest so she could go to the counter to look at the wedding rings she had mentioned before.

After reading the message, Jiang Yan immediately replied, and the two then chatted for more than ten minutes.

He didn't go into the kitchen until he got back to the villa and finished talking with Kim Seol-hyun.

I made a bowl of ramen for dinner, but it was basically just instant noodles.

After quickly finishing his meal, Jiang Yan went back to his room to rest.

The next day passed uneventfully in the same way.

However, on the third day, on his way to Starship Entertainment in the morning, the manager of the agency department who was in charge of him at Yuehua Entertainment called him and said that the beauty salon had been arranged, and the time would be three days later. He could have his styling done that day and take pictures for the magazine.

Jiang Yan wasn't too surprised when he received the message. He just remarked that Yuehua's employees were quite efficient, as they had taken care of what he asked for yesterday.

However, this pictorial is not a photoshoot for the album, but a promotional pictorial for their debut.

As for the concept photo album, that will be shot separately after the music video is completed.

A few minutes later, his car stopped in front of the office building with the words "Starship Entertainment" written on it.

This was his first time here; he had never been here before.

At this point, Starship was not a standalone building; like Cube, it consisted of several floors rented in an office building.

Enter through the glass door on the first floor, take the elevator up to the floor where the Starship is located.

His purpose in coming here today is, of course, to rehearse the choreography for his title track with the Cosmic Girls, who have not yet debuted.

As for the backup dancers, he actually only needed four this time, and among the four people Yuehua Entertainment picked for him from Cosmic Girls, three were from the same hometown.

Wu Xuanyi, Meng Yuqi, and Cheng Xiao.

If it weren't for Lee Jin-sook, a member of the Han nationality, this would be an all-Chinese lineup.

However, upon closer examination, Yuehua's arrangement of this lineup is actually quite reasonable.

The only three Chinese members in the group are all primarily dancers, and the only Korean member is also the main dancer.

The thought of him going to perform on TV later, with four out of the five members being Chinese, still made him a little nervous.

Led by a staff member from Starship, Jiang Yanxian arrived at the practice room of Cosmic Girls.

Upon entering, I saw the 12 members practicing their dances.

When they saw Jiang Yan enter, they all stopped what they were doing.

The nine South Korean members turned around and bowed to greet him without saying a word, while the other three Chinese members were more casual in their greetings because they knew that Jiang Yan was from their hometown.

After exchanging greetings, there was no further communication between the two sides. The four backup dancers were already prepared and followed him to another practice room arranged by Starship.

The five of them will spend the next few days here.

Although all five of them except for Li Zhenshu are Chinese, Jiang Yan and Cheng Xiao still maintained a certain distance in their conversations.

Simply put, it's because we're not really familiar with each other.

He had his own social circle in South Korea, while the social circles of these later Chinese green card holders were essentially not overlapping with his.

It can be said that before he joined Yuehua Entertainment, the two sides had absolutely no interaction.

After joining, we only met when Du Hua organized team building activities; otherwise, we didn't have much contact.

But it's not a big problem; they were just colleagues anyway.

Without intending to exchange pleasantries with the four women, Jiang Yan quickly led them to practice the breakdown of the choreography.

Because the choreography was not complicated and all four dancers were the main dancers, the overall rehearsal process went relatively smoothly.

After rehearsing for most of the day, seeing Cheng Xiao and the others sweating profusely and breathing heavily, Jiang Yan finally spoke up: "Let's all take a break. We'll continue later."

Upon hearing this, the four people breathed a sigh of relief, stopped what they were doing, and sat down on the floor to rest.

Jiang Yan did not sit down like the others; he still had plenty of energy.

However, seeing that they were covered in sweat, he thought for a moment and then said with a smile, "What would you like to drink? It's on me."

Although he wasn't familiar with these people, Jiang Yan wasn't so stingy as to not even offer them a drink.

She was at least his backup dancer; even if she didn't do anything special, she still put in the effort.

"Brother Yan, I want to drink milk tea!" Wu Xuanyi raised her hand with a smile.

"No problem, but I don't know where the nearest bubble tea shop is."

Jiang Yan was unfamiliar with the road conditions near the starship, as it was his first time here.

"I know that. There's a Gong Cha tea shop not far to the right downstairs. I'll take you there," Wu Xuanyi volunteered, standing up to speak.

"Okay, let's go with this place then. You can tell me what flavors the others would like to drink." Jiang Yan nodded and looked at the others.

"Mango yogurt, please." Meng Yuqi answered without much thought after being asked, clearly a seasoned foodie.

"I'll drink the same as Aki too," Cheng Xiao said expressionlessly, then continued to rest on his own.

After the two elders made their choices, Jiang Yan's gaze finally turned to Li Zhenshu, the only person present from the Zhenghan Banner.

The latter was less composed than the previous two, and after a somewhat reserved smile, said, "Senior, I'm fine with anything."

Jiang Yan simply nodded after hearing this, then looked at Wu Xuanyi and said, "Let's go, you lead the way."

The two then left the practice room one after the other and took the elevator downstairs.

Just as Wu Xuanyi said, the Gong Cha shop was very close to the office building where Starship was located; it only took a few minutes to walk there.

They quickly ordered their milk tea and waited there.

Seemingly getting a little bored while waiting, Wu Xuanyi started chatting in Chinese: "Brother Yan, can I ask you something?"

Jiang Yan wasn't sure what question the other person wanted to ask, so he put down his phone, turned to her, and asked, "What do you want to ask?"

"Exactly, who is that BYT brand?"
