Chapter 195 Little Paicai
Everyone turned to look at Jiang Xiaochuan, scrutinizing him, but Jiang Xiaochuan remained expressionless.
Another man shook his head: "Too thin, no, not good for childbearing!"
Xiao Bai raised an eyebrow: "Who said that? My little husband..."
She approached Jiang Xiaochuan, suddenly reached out and touched his waist and abdomen, and smiled mischievously: "Looks thin, but feels quite muscular and firm."
Jiang Xiaochuan froze, and laughter erupted around him.
Taking the opportunity, Xiao Bai drank another bowl and raised an eyebrow at the man: "Want to compete again?"
The man conceded defeat and waved his hand, which made everyone laugh even harder.
Jiang Xiaochuan grabbed her wrist.
Xiao Bai turned around, her eyes sparkling: "Hmm?"
"Don't drink anymore," Jiang Xiaochuan said.
Xiao Bai smiled, leaned closer, and the smell of alcohol brushed against his face—warm and sweet: "Afraid I'll get drunk?"
Jiang Xiaochuan didn't answer. He snatched the bowl from her hand, tilted his head back, and drank it down. The liquor was strong and burned his throat, causing him to frown.
There was a moment of silence, followed by even louder cheers. The men clapped and shouted, and the bamboo tubes thumped against the ground.
Xiao Bai froze, staring at him.
Jiang Xiaochuan put down the bowl, pulled her away, and she followed, staggering slightly. He steadied her, and the cheers behind them continued. Someone offered him a drink, but he waved it away.
Squeezing through the crowd to the stream, where fewer people were, a gust of wind blew, and the effects of the alcohol took hold. Xiao Chuan swayed, and Xiao Bai quickly supported him.
Why did you steal my wine?
Jiang Xiaochuan shook his head, trying to speak, but his tongue stammered, "You...you've had too much to drink..."
"I can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk," Xiao Bai said, helping him sit down on a rock by the stream.
Jiang Xiaochuan sat watching the stream, the flickering lights in the water making him dizzy.
He raised his hand to his forehead and mumbled, "I...I can drink too..."
Xiaobai squatted down in front of him, looking up at him. His face was red, his eyes were red, and he smelled of alcohol. She reached out and touched his cheek; it was hot.
"Fool," she whispered softly.
Jiang Xiaochuan grabbed her hand and held it tightly. He looked at her, his gaze slightly unfocused but very serious: "Xiaobai..."
"Um?"
"Are you...are you alright?"
Xiao Bai smiled, her eyes glistening with tears: "I'm fine."
"That's good..." Jiang Xiaochuan nodded, his head heavy, and he slumped down.
Xiaobai quickly supported his chin, and he rested his head in her palm, muttering, "Xiaobai... put me down..."
"You're sitting down." Xiaobai chuckled.
"I'm not drunk..." He shook his head, swaying even more dizzily. "I can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk..."
Xiao Bai stopped talking and just stared at him.
With his eyes closed, he kept muttering, "Little White...you're beautiful..."
"Um."
"You have a great figure..."
The pretty boy felt a little hot.
"You're a nice person..."
"..."
"noob……"
"I am here."
"Don't go..." His voice lowered, like a dream.
Xiao Bai's heart skipped a beat. She looked at the boy leaning against her palm, his face flushed, his long eyelashes casting shadows under his eyes, his lips slightly parted, his breath reeking of alcohol.
She watched him for a long time, then reached out and pulled him close, letting him lean on her shoulder. He hummed softly, snuggled closer, found a comfortable position, and stayed still.
Xiaobai stood up, picked him up horizontally, and carried him towards the wooden building. He was light, even lighter than she had thought.
There were people on the road watching them with curious eyes, but Xiaobai ignored them, hugging him tightly, her steps steady. He nestled in her arms, his face pressed against her neck, his breath brushing against her skin, warm and ticklish.
Xiao Bai carried him through the still noisy festival crowd, along the stream, towards the wooden house they had rented. The moonlight was bright, casting long, overlapping shadows on the ground. The babbling stream drowned out the distant sounds of drums and music.
As they approached the wooden building, a window on the second floor of a slightly larger inn next door creaked open, revealing a figure in a light green robe standing by the window, gazing at the babbling stream below and the flickering flames of a campfire in the distance, looking forlorn.
The night breeze ruffled the hair on her forehead. She frowned slightly, as if lost in thought, unaware of the figure carrying someone passing by downstairs.
A deep, gentle male voice came from inside the window, filled with concern: "Yao'er, it's chilly at night, get some rest. We'll set off back early tomorrow morning."
"Hmm." The girl in green by the window responded softly, her gaze still fixed on a certain spot in the void, unfocused.
"Father, Aunt You, you should get some rest too." The voice was flat and indifferent.
"You," Yu Ji's voice rang out, filled with tenderness.
"I've been here for the past few days and haven't really left the house much. I've been cooped up in my room cultivating all day. Today's a festival, shouldn't I at least go down and join the fun?"
Biyao was silent for a moment, then shook her head: "No, the excitement is for others."
Her voice softened, as if she were talking to herself, or as if she were trying to convince someone, "Nothing... is more important than him. If I want him, I need to have the strength to stand by his side and make him unable to push me away again."
A barely audible sigh came from inside the window. It was the Ghost King. He didn't try to persuade him any further, only saying, "Alright, I'll go back first thing tomorrow morning. You... don't push yourself too hard."
"I understand, daughter." After saying that, Biyao gently closed the window, shutting out the lively atmosphere and warm light that didn't belong to her.
……
Downstairs, Xiaobai, carrying the sleeping Jiang Xiaochuan, had reached the wooden building she rented. She took out her key, opened the door, and carried him up to the second floor with light steps.
The room was small and simply furnished, with a bed, a table, two chairs, and the window was open, letting in moonlight and the sound of the stream.
Xiao Bai gently placed Jiang Xiaochuan on the bed. The boy was fast asleep and didn't wake up when he was put down. He just unconsciously frowned, mumbled something, turned over, and curled up.
Xiao Bai stood by the bed, looked at him for a while, then turned around and went downstairs to ask the innkeeper for hot water and clean towels.
The water was brought over quickly, in a large wooden tub, still steaming. Xiaobai tested the water temperature; it was just right. She wrung out a hot towel, walked back to the bedside, and sat down.
First, I wiped his face gently, the cloth brushing across his flushed, burning cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin, removing the thin layer of sweat and the smell of alcohol.
After wiping her face, Xiaobai hesitated for a moment, her fingers touching the ties of his clothes. After a pause, she untied and pulled off layer by layer...
As Xiao Bai watched, the corners of her mouth unconsciously curved into a smile.
She wrung out a cloth and began wiping his neck, shoulder, arms, chest, and waist. Wherever the cloth touched, his skin turned a deeper red from the warmth and friction. He was fast asleep, only unconsciously twitching and making a muffled nasal sound when the cloth touched his sensitive area.
After wiping his upper body, Xiaobai put a clean, soft cotton undershirt on him. As she tied the ties, her fingers inadvertently brushed against his chest.
She paused, her fingertips lingering on that spot for a moment, before continuing to tie her sash.
Then the feet...
After washing, I dried my feet with a cloth. My soles were warm, and my toes were slightly pink from being soaked in hot water.
She took the water out and poured it out, then brought in a basin of clean, warm water, this time for her hands...
After doing all this, she picked up the strong tea that had been kept warm on the table, sat back down on the edge of the bed, lifted his head, and let him lean against her arm.
