He was fast asleep, his body limp and submissive. Xiaobai held a teacup to his lips and coaxed him softly, "Xiao Chuan Chuan, open your mouth and drink some tea to sober up."

His lips moved, but he didn't open his eyes. Instead, he obediently opened his mouth slightly. Xiaobai carefully tilted the rim of the cup, letting the warm tea flow into his mouth. He swallowed instinctively, his Adam's apple bobbing. After a few sips, he probably found it too bitter, so he frowned, turned his head away, and refused to drink anymore.

Xiao Bai didn't insist. She put down the teacup, helped him lie down again, covered him with the blanket, and tucked the corner of the blanket in tightly.

She sat on the edge of the bed and watched him for a while. He was sleeping soundly, breathing evenly. The flush of alcohol on his face had faded, revealing his originally clean and handsome features. Only his lips, moistened by the wine and tea, appeared exceptionally red and full.

The room was quiet, with only his steady breathing and the ceaseless sound of the stream outside the window. The air was filled with a faint aroma of alcohol, tea, and water vapor, along with her cool, sweet fragrance, all blending together to create a unique and intimate atmosphere.

Xiao Bai reached out, her fingertips very lightly brushing against the damp, stray hairs on his forehead, then leaned down and placed a kiss on his forehead—very light, very quick, a fleeting touch, like a feather brushing past, almost weightless.

She straightened up, blew out the oil lamp on the table, and the room darkened. Only the moonlight shone dimly through the window paper. She walked to the corner of the room, where there was a small space simply partitioned off by a cloth curtain. It was a place to wash up. By the moonlight and with the remaining slightly cool water in the wooden tub, she quickly washed her body and changed into a clean, soft white cotton nightgown.

Then she walked back to the bedside, lifted the other corner of the quilt, and lay down. The bed was not big, and the two of them lay side by side, very close. She could feel the warm body temperature coming from beside her, and the clean scent of soap on his body, mixed with a faint smell of wine.

She turned to face him, hesitated for a moment, then reached out and gently wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him closer to her. She rested her chin on the top of his soft hair, took a deep breath, and filled her nose with his clean, warm, and comforting scent.

"You have to pay something, right?" she whispered, as if explaining the reason for the hug to herself. But the corners of her mouth curved up, and she tightened her arms, completely encircling him in her embrace, forming a protective and possessive posture.

She closed her eyes, and sleepiness quickly overcame her. After a long day of running around and drinking so much (though it wasn't much for her), taking care of a drunkard was exhausting. Her breathing gradually became long and steady.

midnight.

Xiao Bai was awakened by a strange feeling.

It wasn't a sound, but a sensation—a wet, warm feeling on my chest, with a hint of… a nibbling, fine, stinging pain.

She opened her eyes groggily. The room was dark, with only a faint light coming in from the window, barely enough to make out outlines. She lowered her head.

Jiang Xiaochuan rolled over in her arms at some point, now facing her, his face buried in her chest.

Xiao Bai's body stiffened instantly. A strange, tingling, and slightly painful electric current surged from the spot where he had bitten her, spreading to her limbs and bones in an instant. A strange heat welled up deep in her lower abdomen, causing her to tremble involuntarily, and a very soft, suppressed whimper escaped her throat.

Her first instinct was to push him away. She raised her hand and touched his burning cheek and soft hair, but then she stopped.

He recalled the last time, on the floor of the inn, when he accidentally hugged her all night. When he woke up, he was panicked and even grabbed her hand and slapped himself, his face full of guilt and struggle.

If we wake him up now and let him see this scene...

Xiaobai closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm the unfamiliar restlessness in her body. The warm, wet touch continued, like a feather scratching at her most sensitive heart, making her weak all over and her heartbeat skip a beat.

In the end, she didn't push him away, but tightened her arms and pulled him closer into her embrace, pressing their bodies together without any gap, as if she wanted to use this tighter, almost suffocating embrace to suppress, or rather, to divert that deadly, shameful sensation.

She buried her face in his hair, which smelled of soap, bit her lower lip to keep herself from making any more noise, but her body trembled slightly uncontrollably from the continuous, warm, and moist caresses.

The night was deep, the stream murmured, and the person in his arms was oblivious to all of this, happily munching on his "chicken leg" in his sleep. Occasionally, he would smack his lips and mumble a mumbled word in his sleep.

Xiao Bai, with that embarrassing, unfamiliar touch and the real, warm body in his arms, forced himself to fall asleep again. However, the latter half of the night was extremely restless; his dreams were filled with…

In the early morning, sunlight streamed in through the window cracks, casting a white beam onto the bed.

Xiaobai woke up first. It still hurt there. She looked down and saw that the teeth marks were still there, with some bruising around them. She touched it and hissed.

Jiang Xiaochuan was still asleep, facing her, curled up like a child. He slept peacefully, his long eyelashes casting a faint shadow under his eyes, his lips slightly parted, and his breathing even.

Xiao Bai looked at him for a long while before gently getting up, her movements so light that she didn't disturb him.

She put on her clothes, tied the belt, pulled her inner garment up to cover the teeth marks, then found a cloth, dampened it, and wiped away the marks left on her chest. After cleaning them, she looked in the mirror and saw that they were completely covered and no one could see them.

After doing all that, she returned to the bedside. Jiang Xiaochuan was still asleep and fast asleep. She leaned down and gently touched his lips, then quickly pulled away.

"You little pervert," she whispered, a smile playing on her lips, "consider this your apology."

She got up, went out, and went downstairs. The fire in the stove had gone out, so she lit it again and cooked porridge. The porridge boiled, and the aroma of rice wafted out. She chopped some wild vegetables, stir-fried a plate of them, and then boiled some eggs.

The meal was ready, and the sun was already high in the sky. She went upstairs, opened the door, and saw Jiang Xiaochuan had just woken up, sitting on the bed, rubbing his eyes, his hair sticking up in the air.

"Awake?" Xiaobai walked over, wet a towel, wrung it out, and handed it to him. "Wipe your face and eat."

Jiang Xiaochuan took it, wiped his face haphazardly, and got out of bed. He was still a little unsteady on his feet; he wasn't fully sober.

The two went downstairs and sat down to eat. The porridge was white, the vegetables were green, and the eggs were tender. Jiang Xiaochuan buried his head in his food and didn't say a word.

Xiaobai watched him eat, then sipped her porridge slowly. After a few sips, she said, "Don't drink so much next time."

Jiang Xiaochuan looked up, stubbornly insisting, "I can drink."

"What can you drink?" Xiaobai laughed, "One bowl and I'm out."

Jiang Xiaochuan stopped talking and lowered his head to drink his porridge.

Xiao Bai stopped talking, picked up some food for him, and the two ate quietly, with only the sound of their bowls and chopsticks lightly clinking together.

Outside the window, the stream gurgled, and there were sounds of women washing clothes and children playing. The sun was warm, and its light shone through the window onto the table, making it bright and cheerful.
