Chapter 115 The Gift

"Oh right!" Li Ran suddenly slapped her forehead, "I almost forgot to give you the gift I brought."

"Any gifts?"

Choi Jin-ri blinked.

"Yeah, I bought it on a whim yesterday."

He strode into the living room and took out the cat-shaped audio recorder from his backpack.

Li Ran handed her the palm-sized doll. "Here, this is it."

"I was originally thinking of recording a blessing for you in advance, but I couldn't think of anything to say for a long time. So I didn't record it in the end."

"Just record whatever you want to say when the time comes."

"Or you can record whatever you want me to say."

Choi Jin-ri took the gray and white kitten keychain and pursed her lips.

The kitten plush toy is soft and fluffy, and its belly feels a bit fuzzy to the touch.

This pendant isn't particularly exquisite, but it has a kind of quirky cuteness that's hard to describe.

Choi Jin-ri pinched the kitten's cheek, then looked at Lee Ran, "How do we record this?"

"Press here." He pointed to the doll's belly. "Long press to record, short press to play."

"It's pretty high-end," she muttered to herself.

"It's just a small trinket worth a few tens of thousands of Korean won."

"No matter how much it costs, I really like it." Choi Jin-ri held the doll in her hands and played with it.

"You can study it first, I'm going to cook, otherwise the butter will melt away." He walked towards the stove.

Li Ran put the toast down.

"Sizzle~"

A milky aroma instantly filled the air.

Choi Jin-ri looked up at him, then looked down at the cat keychain in her hand.

She suddenly wanted to record something, but then didn't know what to say.

"Feed? Feed?"

She tried it quietly.

After recording, she pressed play.

"Feed? Feed?"

The doll's voice was a little muffled, and sounded strangely silly.

Li Ran, who was in the kitchen, heard the sound and turned around to look at her.

"They're already playing?"

"I'm just checking," she said seriously.

"If you say so, then so be it."

Li Ran flipped the toast in the pan over.

He stared at the golden-brown toast in the pan, somewhat lost in thought.

It seems that Choi Jin-ri really likes the gift she bought.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

"Is your beef almost burnt?" Choi Jin-ri suddenly asked.

Upon hearing this, Li Ran snapped out of her daze and glanced down at the pot beside her.

"Holy crap!"

He quickly picked up the spatula and flipped the beef over.

Thank goodness.

The beef was just a little dark in color, not burnt yet.

The packaging of this beef looks like it's been in the refrigerator for quite a while.

But Li Ran checked the expiration date and found that it hadn't expired, so she took it out and put it aside to fry.

As a result, I almost wasted it again because I was distracted.

It can only be said that this beef has had a rather unfortunate history.

Choi Jin-ri stood behind him, watching his flustered movements, and couldn't help but smile slightly.

She glanced at the pendant in her hand again and noticed a metal clasp on the back, which could be hung on a bag or key.

This doll is actually quite well-made. At tens of thousands of Korean won, it's not particularly cheap.

It doesn't look like a collaboration; the main cost should be in the production cost.

Choi Jin-ri thought for a moment, then pressed the button again to prepare for recording.

This time she didn't say anything, but just recorded a few seconds of noise coming from the kitchen.

The sizzling sound of toast and beef frying in the pan, the swishing sound of Li Ran flipping the spatula, and the buzzing sound of the range hood.

After recording, she clicked play.

The sounds that had just come out of the kitten's belly seemed to have been filtered out, becoming somewhat muffled.

Choi Jin-ri walked over to the sofa and sat down.

She gently rested her chin on one hand, staring at Li Ran's back.

He scooped the toast into a plate, then turned back and asked, "Where's the black pepper?"

"It seems to be in the cabinet to your left."

Although Choi Jin-ri doesn't cook at home often, she still vaguely remembers where the seasonings are placed.

Li Ran opened the cabinet door, rummaged through it, and found a small bottle of black pepper powder.

He sprinkled some on the beef and then flipped it over.

"Sizzle~"

The fat on the beef made a sizzling sound.

Choi Jin-ri watched his busy figure, placed the doll in her hand on the small table next to the sofa, and then stood up.

"Do you need my help?"

"Could you get me a plate?" Li Ran said, turning the beef over.

She tiptoed and opened the cabinet above, then took out two white plates.

She carried the plate to Li Ran's side.

"Was it overcooked?"

He poked the surface of the beef with a spatula. "It's actually okay. Cough cough."

"It just looks a bit old. Actually, it's quite young."

Actually, he himself had some doubts about whether he had aged properly.

However, even though Choi Jin-ri was standing right next to him, he still stubbornly maintained his composure.

Choi Jin-ri looked at him with a mixture of disbelief and skepticism.

Could it be that I really misread it?

Because she wasn't very good at cooking, Choi Jin-ri wasn't really confident that Lee Ran-joon was overcooked.

But even if she had never slaughtered a pig, she had seen pigs run before, and she had eaten them many times. She always felt that the color of this beef was a bit off.

Choi Jin-ri leaned closer and stared at the beef in the pot for a few seconds.

Are you sure this isn't overcooked? It looks a bit too dark.

"Oh, it's alright."

Li Ran used a spatula to scoop out the beef and placed it on the plate she was holding. "Trust me."

Choi Jin-ri looked down at the piece of beef on the plate.

The beef was a dark brown color on the surface, with even a bit of charred edges.

However, since Li Ran had already made his promise repeatedly, she didn't say anything more, picked up the plate, turned around, and placed it on the dining table.

Li Ran scooped out the remaining piece of beef and then turned off the stove.

Only the range hood was still humming in the kitchen.

He reached out and turned off the switch, and the buzzing sound stopped.

I fried four slices of toast.

Li Ran walked over carrying another plate. "Is this enough?"

That's enough.

Choi Jin-ri glanced at the toast on the plate.

The golden-brown toast had slightly burnt edges, but it looked pretty good.

She took out the kitten keychain and then played the recording of cooking sounds from the kitchen that she had just made.

A hissing sound came from the kitten's belly, which was particularly noticeable in the quiet living room.

Li Ran put down the plate and paused for a moment when she heard the sound.

"What did you record? It looks blurry."

"It was just the sound of you cooking," Choi Jin-ri paused the playback. "It was just a random recording."

"Why record this?" he asked, somewhat puzzled.

"I think it's quite interesting."

She placed the cat keychain on a corner of the dining table, "so I can listen to it anytime I want."

Li Ran glanced at her but didn't ask any further questions.

Let her record if she wants.

Anyway, the gifts have already been given out.
