Chapter 84 is for you

"Online classes, you know." He smacked his lips.

"What's wrong?" Lee Ji-eun looked at him.

"I usually get distracted during online classes and can't concentrate at all," he shrugged.

"Sometimes I fall asleep on the other end of the phone, and the teacher might not even notice."

"Do you often take online classes?" She blinked.

Li Ran was slightly taken aback.

Oh right, it's only April 2019.

"Even if you weren't paying attention in your online classes before, I don't believe you can fall asleep with my one-on-one guidance," she continued.

He gestured with his lip. "Hard to say."

"Hmm?" Lee Ji-eun raised an eyebrow.

"I was just kidding," he said immediately with a grin.

She rolled her eyes, then took out her phone and started scrolling through the screen.

Li Ran glanced at it; it seemed to be on some online shopping page.

"What do you want to buy?"

He regretted it as soon as the words left his mouth.

What someone buys is their private matter; what business is it of mine?

Sometimes he couldn't understand why his emotional intelligence was neither high nor low, just right at the level of realizing he had said the wrong thing.

Lee Ji-eun glanced at him, but didn't seem to care much.

She showed the screen to Li Ran, "Look, I'm picking out a guitar."

Seemingly noticing his confusion, she continued to explain, "I was just going to teach you a musical instrument! This is a gift for you."

"I'll buy the teaching aids first, and see if you dare not study hard afterward."

Li Ran opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say.

"Why don't you send me the link or I'll transfer the money to you?" he said.

Lee Ji-eun waved her hand dismissively, "No need, it's just a guitar."

"I'm not planning to buy anything too expensive. It'll be fine as long as it's enough for a beginner."

He scratched his eyebrow, looking somewhat uncomfortable. "Even if I really wanted to learn a musical instrument, I'd still have to pay you tuition! There's no reason for you to pay me out of your own pocket!"

"Ugh, what are you dawdling about?" She rolled her eyes. "I said I'd buy it, so I bought it. I'm happy with it! What's with all the hesitation?"

"By the way, what's your favorite color?" she asked, glancing down at her phone screen.

"Black, purple, blue, and red are all fine. If those aren't available, white and silver-gray are also acceptable."

Lee Ji-eun looked up at him, "So you have quite a few favorite colors?"

She emphasized the pronunciation of the syllable "最".

Li Ran shook her head. "I don't really have a favorite color."

"These are some of my favorite colors. If you really asked me to pick a 'favorite,' I honestly couldn't."

He smiled and said, "I have a bit of a problem with making choices."

She raised her eyebrows. "So what are you going to do when you find a girlfriend?"

"You have decision-making difficulties. If you like girl number one, girl number two, and girl number three, what? Are you planning to marry them all?"

"What are you talking about?"

He waved his hand, "How can you compare color to a girlfriend? They have completely different meanings."

"Besides, I don't think I have that thought right now."

"What are you thinking?" Lee Ji-eun blinked. "Thinking about getting a girlfriend? You're not getting any younger, are you? Don't you have any thoughts about the future?"

Li Ran frowned slightly. "Just from what you're saying, I thought you were some elder in a TV drama pressuring someone to get married."

"But my relatives can't rush me anymore. Because they've all gone to another world." He suddenly added a hellish joke.

She paused for a moment, then looked at Li Ran.

Lee Ji-eun paused in her grip on her phone.

She was about to add a few more sarcastic remarks, but then she got stuck.

"I'm sorry," she said softly.

Li Ran waved her hand, "Why are you apologizing? It wasn't you who sent them away."

She slightly pursed her lips.

Lee Ji-eun turned her attention back to her phone.

After a while, she held up her phone and showed it to him. "What do you think of this?"

Li Ran leaned over and took a look.

The image on the page features a dark blue folk guitar with a subtle gradient around the edges.

"He's pretty handsome," he said.

"But I always feel that this color attracts fingerprints easily."

"It can't be that bad."

She looked down and continued flipping through the product pages.

"This black color looks nice."

"Um."

"Silver gray is alright too."

"Um."

"The purple one looks the best."

"Um."

"Besides 'um,' can you say anything else?" Lee Ji-eun looked up at him.

Li Ran thought for a moment, then said, "Yes."

"for example?"

"This one will do too."

'

Lee Ji-eun put her phone down and looked at him expressionlessly.

"What? In just a few minutes, your Korean has deteriorated to the point where you can only say one or two words?"

"You'll definitely be incredibly annoying when you go shopping with girls in the future."

"No way," Li Ran said innocently. "I have plenty of emotional value."

"What's wrong with you?" She rolled her eyes.

"I affirmed you the whole time!" he said in surprise.

She gestured with her lips, "And then just keep saying 'uh-huh' the whole time. And this is okay too?"

"At least my attitude was correct!"

She wrinkled her nose. "Then you might as well just shut up."

Li Ran shrugged. "Mainly, I genuinely think these colors all look pretty much the same."

He continued, "As long as it's not a shit-yellow color or a garish Barbie pink, I'm pretty accepting of it."

Lee Ji-eun tilted her head slightly, "Deathly Barbie pink?"

He nodded. "This color is too overwhelming; I can't handle it."

Lee Ji-eun suddenly narrowed her eyes, "The way you said that makes me suddenly want to buy you a pink guitar."

"Stop messing around." Li Ran waved his hand.

"I think it suits you quite well." She gently stroked her chin as she looked at him.

He felt somewhat uncomfortable being stared at. "Where is this appropriate?"

"Same as the repressed pervert."

'

"7

"You have a slightly wicked sense of humor." He rolled his eyes.

Lee Ji-eun gave a soft "heh," then looked down and continued scrolling through the product pages, a teasing smile still playing on her lips.

"Alright, Mr. Introverted Pervert."

That's how she gave Li Ran that nickname.

After looking at her phone for a while, she tapped her finger and made her final choice.

"This one will do."

Li Ran peeked out and glanced at it.

The body of the instrument is deep purple, with multiple layers of silver-white edging that outline its shape.

Judging from its appearance alone, it does suit his taste.

"Good taste." He nodded.

"Of course." Lee Ji-eun raised her chin. "My aesthetic sense is always on point."

After saying that, she placed the order and paid immediately, her actions so swift that she didn't give him any chance to back out.

Li Ran opened her mouth, but in the end, she didn't say anything more.

Pushing it back and forth would only seem pretentious.

Lee Ji-eun put away her phone, stretched, relaxed her shoulders, and sank into the sofa.

"Alright, Li Ran."

"The teaching materials are all ready; you have no excuse to skip class."

"Yes, Teacher Li Zhi'en!" Li Ran saluted her.
