"So why did we dump Selena?"

Bruce had changed into a suit and styled his hair, but the question was still on his mind.

It was obvious to everyone that Selena wanted to go to the banquet to enjoy the food and, incidentally, steal something.

But surely they wouldn't just abandon someone halfway through the journey?

Aren't we friends?

"If what she said is true, she should find a way to get in herself."

Dior felt no remorse whatsoever; in fact, he was somewhat looking forward to seeing how Selena would sneak in.

If Selena can't even get into a charity gala hosted by a female doctor, then she's nothing special.

Bruce looked at his unmoved expression and hesitated to speak.

He instinctively felt that this was wrong for the girl, but subconsciously he also felt that Dior was right.

But the problem is—how are you going to find a girlfriend like this?!

Bruce covered his face.

He finally understood that Dior only used his emotional intelligence on specific people.

When he encounters someone stronger than himself, he can make people feel warm and comfortable, like a gentle breeze.

When they encounter someone weaker than themselves, their arrogance takes over, and they look down on the other person.

"Young Master Dior, do I think this is a bit ungentlemanly?"

Alfred, standing behind, sighed and whispered a reminder:

"I think for a girl, you should..."

"Shouldn't I be more considerate and thoughtful?"

Dior turned around expressionlessly, a forced smile on his face:

"I'm not that old yet, Alfred. It's a waste of time."

"Is that what you think too, Master Bruce?"

Alfred looked at Bruce with some anticipation, and the latter nodded.

The old butler was heartbroken!

At this age, you should have a beautiful romance, even just holding hands would be great!

NO!

If there hadn't been reporters at the banquet, he would have covered his chest long ago.

"I want you two to live a normal life, instead of fighting and killing each other."

"I want you two to be normal children."

Alfred spoke earnestly, after all, he had come from that experience and knew what was wrong with it.

When he was young, he worked as a bouncer and would chop off the hands of anyone who caused trouble. Now he regrets it but it's too late.

"The master and mistress were benefactors of the children's hospital, as were you two."

"and...."

Alfred smiled mysteriously.

There will be magic tonight!

After saying that, he looked at the two boys in front of him with some anticipation.

The blond boy on the left twitched the corner of his mouth, while the black-haired boy on the right remained expressionless.

"There will be magic tonight!"

Alfred, unconvinced, repeated himself.

This time, Dior finally stopped smirking and clapped his hands in feigned excitement:

"Wow, I'm so excited! I love magic!"

—If you ignore that disgusted face, these words perfectly express the anticipation.

"Yeah yeah."

Bruce also gave a symbolic clapping.

Magic tricks are just empty promises; anyone with a brain can see through them, so they're not really exciting.

"OH! NO!"

Alfred looked like he had a headache, and his straight back hunched over slightly.

As he was pondering how to educate these two extraordinary children, he heard footsteps beside him.

"Excuse me, hello? May I bother you?"

The person who arrived was none other than Lee Tompkins, a forensic pathologist and pediatrician, who hosted the charity gala.

She wore a black evening gown, her hair was styled in an updo, and a pearl necklace made her tanned skin look exceptionally sexy.

But she was a little nervous; Gordon had said that the Wayne family's adopted son was difficult to get along with.

She didn't believe it at first; how difficult could a small child be?

But after seeing Dior's cold face, she began to believe it.

Dior turned around and saw a beautiful woman with exotic features. His cold face immediately broke into a smile, and he extended his hand in a friendly manner.

"Hello, you must be Miss Tompkins? It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Dio Brando."

Alfred's mouth gaped slightly—So this is what young Master Dior is really like!

"Oh? It's a pleasure to meet you. Gordon mentioned you to me."

Seeing this smile, Tompkins felt less nervous and naturally took his hand.

"You're a little different from what I imagined."

"Really? Detective Gordon has a deep misunderstanding about me."

Dior released his grip and introduced the two people beside him to Miss Tompkins.

"This is Bruce Wayne, and this is my guardian, Alfred Pennyworth."

"Hello, Miss Tompkins, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Bruce also stepped forward and shook hands with the other party; he still admired Tompkins.

Such kind doctors are rare in Gotham.

The two parted ways immediately upon touching.

Tompkins looked at the somewhat dazed Alfred, and the old butler suddenly snapped out of his daze and quickly reached out his hand:

"It's an honor, Miss Tompkins."

"Thanks."

Miss Tompkins nodded politely.

"By the way, how's Gordon?"

Dio thought of Gordon's miserable state and couldn't help but feel a little sad.

As Gotham's king of one-on-one combat, he was unlucky enough to run into two people, so he could no longer fight.

That's so tragic.

Miss Tompkins smiled and was about to speak when she suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind her.

Gordon strode over and blocked her path, his eyes fixed on Dior.

After staring at each other for a moment, Gordon glared and said in a deep voice:

"Dio, why do you think someone would do something bad?"

The smile in Dior's eyes gradually diminished, but his expression remained unchanged.

"Oh? Detective Gordon, how do you define 'bad thing'?"

The two stared at each other, neither willing to back down.

"Harming innocent people."

Gordon narrowed his eyes, intently observing the expression on the blond boy's face.

"Using illegal means to achieve one's goals, acting as a judge, jury, and executioner."

Dior chuckled softly, a brief laugh that seemed to mock someone:

"Then let me ask you, if a person's purpose is just, and their methods also align with their sense of justice, is what they do still considered a bad thing?"

Gordon frowned, but still retorted:

"Justice is not something that can be achieved by words alone."

"Of course." Dio tilted his head, his smile bright. "Justice is done."

"But I believe even more that if a person feels that he is righteous, then everything he does is righteous."

"Something happened at Blackgate Prison. A deputy warden is dead." Gordon stared into Dio's eyes. "Did you know?"

Dio's expression remained unchanged. "Isn't it normal for someone to die in prison?"

Gordon stared at him for a few seconds, his Adam's apple bobbing as he breathed heavily.

"You'll regret this, Dior."

His voice was so soft that only two people could hear it.

"Perhaps," Dio straightened his cuffs, "but not today."

"Have fun, Detective Gordon."

He bowed slightly and turned to walk towards the banquet hall.

He's going to see a magic show now; he heard that Gallup is here today too.

I'm really curious about the expression on that person's face.

Dior smiled knowingly.
