Warhammer: My buddy has too many secrets!

Chapter 55 Requirements for a Gene Seed

The Commander of the Malakin Warband made this promise to Lancelot.

But at that moment, screams were echoing against every wall of another secret room.

"This is incredible!"

"How is this possible!"

The Holy Blood Angel's Holy Blood Priest slammed his fist on the stone table, producing a dull thud.

The laurel wreath was placed quietly in front of him, like starlight infused into the blood of an angel, but every Holy Blood Angel present felt a warmth that should not exist in this dark millennium.

"According to that elder, this is a laurel wreath personally crafted by Saint Geres, which may contain the secret to cure the thirst of the Holy Blood Angels."

Dante, who was in the main seat, straightened up and his gaze swept over everyone present.

"That's impossible!"

The commander of the First Company of the Holy Blood Angels took a deep breath:

"How could our genetic father have left no record of something like this? And why now of all times? In this dark fortieth millennium, a crown capable of 'curing' the curse of the Holy Blood Angel bloodline has fallen from the sky? Chapter Commander, I can't believe it! When has fate ever been so kind to us?"

Dante remained silent. The company commander's words reflected his own concerns; his words were not malicious, but rather carried a deep sadness.

"I agree with his caution, but I trust the connection between the father of genetics and us."

The chief think tank member spoke up. He stood to the left of Dante's stone chair, the shadow of his psionic hood obscuring most of his face, but his expression at that moment couldn't hide his excitement:

"I personally conducted a psionic test on that laurel wreath. I'm certain that the mark belongs to Lord Saint Gilles, and that Lord Saint Gilles did indeed record something within it using psionic energy."

"He is enveloped by some kind of psionic seal that I cannot penetrate, Chapter Master."

"What's the problem with that?"

"The psionic seal itself is not the problem; it was indeed placed by Lord Saint Gilles himself."

"What's wrong with him?"

"The problem is strange."

The voice of the leading think tank has become quieter:

"The design of this laurel wreath is too perfect. It is a sacred relic that can cure thirst, which was sealed by Lord Saint Gilles himself. But it does not seem like a healing method left to us by Lord Saint Gilles. Rather, it seems like a gift given to someone else."

"Chaos is best at this kind of deception."

Upon hearing this, the Holy Blood Priest also said in a deep voice:

"I'll give you a real shell, inside which lies a deadly poison. The mark is real, the seal is real, the warmth is real, everything you can detect is real, except for the final effect!"

History has shown us this scam countless times!

"This is impossible! The power of Saint Gilles could never be forged by Chaos! Chaos has no ability to perfectly imitate Lord Saint Gilles' psionic imprint!"

The chief think tank said:

"The gods can forge many things—fear, desire, wrath—but the radiance of Saint Gilles…that is something they cannot replicate. For the essence of angels is opposed to chaos! Just as fire cannot imitate ice and snow! This item truly comes from Lord Saint Gilles, I can confirm that!"

After he finished speaking, silence fell once again in the secret room. This time, the silence lasted even longer.

Those present were all high-ranking members of the Holy Blood Angels, who understood the nature of Bloodthirst better than anyone else, and the cunning of Chaos better than anyone else. They were the offspring of Saint Geres... but they were completely unaware that their father had once forged such a crown for them.

Of all the people's emotions, the Chief Holy Blood Priest's emotions fluctuated the most intensely.

He knew the true nature of the curse; it was not some kind of magic that could be easily dispelled, but rather a mark woven into the deepest part of the Holy Blood Angel's genetic seed.

Knowing how deep the curse ran, he knew how precious hope was. Knowing how precious hope was, he dared not easily believe in it.

But it is precisely because we dare not easily believe that the silence at this moment seems so solemn.

They dared not make a decision at this moment, and the responsibilities of the battle group leader were revealed at this time.

"What if it's true?"

"If this is true, and we refuse to use it out of fear, what does that mean?"

"Our brothers who were consumed by thirst for blood, every one of them who lost their minds in thirst for blood and were ultimately killed by our own hands, their deaths will be without honor."

Dante made the final decision:

"I have decided to trust him, but no one will wear this crown. If it was made by Saint Gilles for someone, then no one in the Holy Blood Angels is worthy of it now."

"We will place it in a static force field and gather the best apothecaries to study it. If it truly contains a secret method to cure blood thirst, we will conduct small-scale experiments! We cannot apply it to all Holy Blood Angels."

Dante had considered everything, and everyone nodded in agreement after hearing it.

"Yes, Commander!"

Dante nodded, instructing the Legion's strategist and the company commander to personally escort the item back to the flagship of the Blood Angels. Dante watched them return to the flagship, while he himself remained aboard the flagship of the Lamenters.

Dante did not tell all his brothers in the Chapter the whole story.

Especially since the elder Lancelot still needs to go to the Golden Throne, and even plans to resurrect the Primarch of the Ultramarines, Dante, who has fought for thousands of years, understands that this is no child's play, and the fewer people who know about it, the better.

After completing this step, Dante returned to the VIP room where Lancelot was.

"We have completed our discussions, Your Excellency Elder Lancelot. I swear in the name of Saint Geres, the entire Holy Blood Angels owe you an immeasurable debt of gratitude. I will immediately contact the Terra Guard to help you reach Holy Terra as soon as possible. If you still require the Holy Blood Angels' assistance, please do not hesitate to ask."

Dante spoke thus, and Lancelot had indeed been waiting for Dante to say so. Then Lancelot looked at Chapter Master Malakin.

"Elder, what brings you here?"

When Malakin asked, Lancelot could only shake his head helplessly. Malakin, the leader of the Weeping Chapter, was somewhat talented in tactics and wisdom, but he was sometimes quite eccentric and dull when it came to interpersonal relationships.

"Commander Malakin, please go out for a moment. I need to have a detailed discussion with Elder Lancelot."

It was only after Commander Dante spoke that Malakin came to his senses: "I understand. I'll go out for a bit. Elder, you and the Chapter Master can talk first."

Commander Malakin quickly left, leaving only Lancelot and Dante in the room. Lancelot then spoke to Dante:

"I do need the Holy Blood Angels to help someone."

"Due to special circumstances, I personally need 1000 gene seeds."

After Dante and the high-ranking members of the Angels of Blood completed their private conversation and Dante promised to use his connections to contact the Imperial Guard, Lancelot took the opportunity to make this request.

Upon hearing this, Dante paused briefly:

"One thousand gene seeds, Elder Lancelot. That's the amount for an entire warband. As you know, the approval of such a large batch of gene seeds requires permission from multiple forces, including the High Lords, the State Church, and the Inquisition, before they can be mobilized."

"I know."

Lancelot nodded, looking directly at Dante before him:

"Actually, I don't need that many gene seeds right now. I'm just saying this to let you know in advance. I might need to travel to the edge of the galaxy in the future, and one person's strength is indeed insufficient."
