Chapter 103 Avoid Internal Strife
Chapter 103 Avoid Internal Strife
Wanda opened the kitchen door, and Peter followed behind her. The two of them walked out of the kitchen together.
Although her disheveled clothes and hair had been tidied up, the blush on her face from being moved had not completely faded.
Pietro sat on the sofa, watching the two of them without any expression of joy or sorrow.
First, he saw that there was someone in the world who could keep up with his speed. Then, this guy was someone he had clashed with before. And then, this guy actually managed to seduce his sister right under his nose.
This is insane, it doesn't make any sense at all—it's totally unscientific!
Pietro felt that the worldview he had built up over the past twenty years had collapsed.
If Peter could hear Pietro's innermost thoughts, he would surely comfort him.
Odin's foolish son has had his worldview crumble more than once or twice since he came to know himself.
Look how mentally healthy that person is. Even after being lifted up with a hammer three times in a row, they can still find an excuse to make their logic self-consistent again.
Of course, not everything in this world can be fooled.
For example, if the male soldier from the Boys next door had been imprisoned for half a century and was out of touch with modern society, when he heard about GPS, Bluetooth, and the Internet, his first reaction would not be novelty or confusion, but rather he would blurt out, "You made up these words."
Even someone like Bingnan, who never suffers from internal conflicts, still had his values severely shaken when he heard the cuckold's outrageous statement, "He's my wife's child."
With Peter holding one of her hands, Wanda said to Pietro, "I'm going out for a bit. You'll have to take care of lunch yourself."
Pietro reluctantly accepted reality. He leaned back on the sofa and instructed Wanda, "Take precautions. Don't bring me back a nephew or niece."
"Go to hell," Wanda cursed, then turned to Peter and said, "What are you laughing at? Lead the way."
Peter and Wanda disappeared into the living room.
Tony had just flown ten blocks from the Avengers Building at Columbus Circle in Midtown Manhattan to the Barks Building, located at the intersection of 42nd Street and Madison Avenue.
Before Tony could exchange more than a few pleasantries with Reed, he saw Peter appear in the lab, holding Wanda's hand.
Tony was stunned for a moment, then immediately used his superpowers to figure out the cause and effect.
He took out his phone, ready to capture the scene before him.
You've finally met your match, Peter Parker.
Peter simply waved his hand, crushing Tony's phone into powder in mid-air, and pointed at Tony, making his meaning clear:
If you dare to inform on me, you're dead.
Tony had no choice but to surrender.
Peter put his arm around Wanda's shoulder and introduced her to the Fantastic Four: "Wanda, this is my girlfriend."
Wanda forced a smile and waved to the four of them.
Although she often spoke rudely to Peter, she always gave him face in front of others.
Standing in front of the matter recombination device, Reed tilted his head and asked in a tone that didn't match his intelligence, "Isn't your girlfriend Gwen Stacy? Then who is this?" There was no malice in his tone, just the kind of confusion one feels when trying to understand a variable that is beyond one's cognitive scope.
"I don't quite understand. The physical distance between you two has exceeded the safe threshold for ordinary friends, and the way you looked at her just now was the same way you usually look at Gwen. This creates a contradiction in my understanding. According to human social etiquette, should I pretend I didn't notice?"
The entire laboratory fell silent for three seconds. Tony, who was on good terms with Reed, covered his face in despair, as if he were ashamed of Reed's extremely low emotional intelligence, despite being a fellow genius.
Peter opened his mouth, but couldn't utter a single word.
If it were Tony who said this, he would have already begun to politely greet Tony's production workshop.
Then Susan walked up behind Reed with a smile, but precisely grabbed her husband's ear: "Reed, let's talk."
"Sue, wait a minute, I'm just verifying an objective fact—" Reed was being dragged towards the lab door by the ear, still trying to argue, "If my observation is wrong, I should be corrected, not violently dragged away—"
"This isn't a matter of flawed observation," Susan said, her grip on his hand remaining firm. "It's a matter of you being completely out of your mind."
As she dragged Reed out of the lab, she turned back to Peter with an apologetic smile: "Peter, you two go ahead with your work. My husband and I have some personal matters to attend to."
The laboratory door closed behind her.
Reed's voice continued from behind the door: "What private matter? I just wanted to confirm whether I need to redefine the semantic boundaries of the word 'girlfriend'."
Then came Susan's harsh scolding.
Peter coughed lightly and turned to look at the two remaining Fantastic Four members in the lab.
Ben Grimm habitually pressed his stone hand against his forehead, producing a dull thud like rocks scraping together.
He walked up to Peter, his huge, rugged stone face bearing an expression of compassion that transcended species and physical form.
"That guy only took three weeks to build the inter-universe portal," Ben said in a deep, rough voice. "But figuring out why his wife was angry is another technical problem—and we still haven't solved it."
Stamp collecting master Johnny jumped down from the other side of the lab table.
He stopped in front of Wanda, gave her a perfectly polite smile, then turned to Peter and said in an undisguisedly excited tone, "Brother, well done, you didn't embarrass me."
There was no contempt for Peter's two-timing behavior in his tone; instead, it was all admiration for his brother's scumbag actions.
Wanda spoke coldly, "Are you finished?"
"I'm done." Johnny immediately raised his hands and took three steps back.
A few minutes later, Susan led Reed back into the lab, apologetic smile on her face.
She said to Wanda, "Sorry, Reed's brain is a bit unbalanced in some areas, don't take it to heart."
After her abilities were enhanced, Wanda was able to subtly and easily perceive the emotions of those around her.
She, who has always had a bad temper, did not lose her temper in this somewhat embarrassing situation, and that was certainly not to save face for her scumbag boyfriend.
Instead, she discovered that the Fantastic Four did not hold any negative views or discriminate against her because of her messy relationship with Peter.
They all genuinely welcomed the arrival of a guest, especially since the guest was their friend's girlfriend.
Apart from Tony Stark.
Wanda looked at Tony.
The man who produced the weapon that killed her parents, the object of her revenge for over a decade, and the man she had already harmed once with telepathic illusions at the Hydra base, put away his joking demeanor and sat not far away watching her.
Wanda could sense the scrutinizing emotion in his eyes, not one of wariness or malicious suspicion, but rather the feeling of a parent seeing their child bring a girl home. It seemed Tony had moved on from their previous unpleasantness.
Tony noticed Wanda's gaze and forced a friendly smile.
Having let go of her hatred, Wanda smiled and nodded slightly to Tony.
Peter, who had been talking to Wanda and Reed, also smiled.
