Chapter 28 Injecting the Extremis Virus

The sight of his comrade being beheaded with a single sword strike greatly shocked the other soldiers in the desperate situation present.

Although they have extremely strong regenerative abilities, able to heal quickly even if their hearts are shattered, the Extremis virus cannot make them grow a head again.

So they regrouped and decided to work together to take down Peter.

"I've been looked down upon," Peter chuckled self-deprecatingly.

In terms of pure physical skills, only Shang-Chi in the Marvel Universe can rival him.

Even though their physical functions were poor due to long-term malnutrition and lack of exercise, with the help of magic, they were not someone that a few veterans transformed into Extremis soldiers could easily fool.

He held the Ring of Raghadore in his hand, twirled his sword with his right hand, and faced the remaining Desperate soldiers.

Two Desperate soldiers simultaneously threw punches at him, while three others attacked his vital points with their hands or kicks.

The Ring of Raghadore blocked one of the punches, and Peter fell to the ground, dodging the almost unavoidable combined attack of several people.

The sword of Vishanti sliced through the air, severing the lower legs of two Extremis soldiers.

Just as the two men fell to the ground, a Desperate soldier who had already reacted stomped down hard on Peter's leg.

Peter lifted his toes, touched the ball of his foot which was carrying tremendous force, and slid backward on the ground using that force.

As he retreated, he took the opportunity to thrust his sword into the head of a Desperate soldier whose legs he had severed and who was lying on the ground, his limbs regenerating.

The sword easily pierced his hard skull, which could withstand small-caliber bullets, and shredded half of his head.

Meanwhile, another Extremis soldier, whose legs had been severed and who was lying on the ground, seized the opportunity to hug Peter from behind.

His superior physical abilities allowed him to easily hold Peter in his arms, and for a moment, Peter was unable to break free. The scales of victory seemed to have tipped over.

"That's the only option I can use," Peter thought.

He mobilized all the muscles in his upper body, with his chest, abdomen, waist, and back muscles working together to transmit the explosive power along his spine to his left shoulder.

This skill was developed from observing the performances of unparalleled singers, dancers, ventriloquists, and basketball masters, and it became a signature move he created.

"Kunshan Kao!"

The power concentrated in his left shoulder erupted from the soldier's left chest, passing through his thick muscles and tough ribs, reaching his relatively vulnerable heart, damaging it, stopping his heartbeat, and stiffening his entire body.

But in just one second, his heart was directly repaired by the Extremis virus's powerful regenerative ability.

But in that one second, Peter broke free of his restraints and plunged the Vishanti sword into his chin, reaching his brain.

Peter flicked his wrist, smashing his brain to pieces, and then drew the sword of Vishanti.

Besides Killian, there are three Desperate soldiers left on the field at this point.

Although it was a three-on-one situation, the two sides were worlds apart in terms of momentum.

The Extremis soldiers, who relied on the high temperature, immense strength, and self-healing abilities, completely lost their morale after witnessing two of their comrades being kicked to death by Peter like stray dogs on the roadside.

After his first real encounter with a human, Peter became increasingly adept at mastering the art of killing.

He removed the Ring of Raghadore from his left hand, conjuring another Vishanti sword, and desperately swung it at the remaining three Desperate soldiers.

Of course, it was Peter who wielded the sword, and the desperate soldiers were the ones in dire straits.

The three desperate soldiers nodded to each other, then assumed a fighting stance, seemingly prepared for a desperate last stand.

Peter recognized their fighting spirit and decided to give them a dignified exit.

Just as he charged toward the three men, they suddenly turned around and began to run away.

The power of the Extremis virus allowed them to take three to five meters with each step, quickly disappearing at the end of the corridor outside the laboratory.

Peter: ?

Killian, abandoned by his subordinates: ? ? ?

Seeing Peter approaching him with ill intent, Killian also slipped away and fled the scene in a few steps.

Peter watched them leave and couldn't help but complain, "If Cao Zhi had your speed back then, he would have fled from Wei to Wu before he even finished reciting the Seven Steps Poem."

Could someone who fled from the northern state of Wei to the southern state of Wu be considered a defector in some sense?

"Peter!" Tony shouted, interrupting Peter's reverie.

"Help!"

Peter quickly ran to Tony's side.

Tony was sitting on the ground, holding Maya in his arms.

Maya's situation looks very bad.

She lay unconscious in Tony's arms, covered with a garment that was stained with blood. It seemed that Tony had removed her clothes to help stop the bleeding before covering her again.

"How badly are you hurt?" Peter asked.

"Very bad."

"The bullet pierced the aorta next to her heart and remained inside her body. I used the hemostatic gel you gave me to stop the bleeding on the surface of her skin, but the real bleeding point is inside her body, and now the blood is almost filling the chest cavity between her lungs and chest wall."

"She is dying," Peter said.

"Yes, the only way to save her now is through the Extremis virus." Tony carefully picked up Maya and placed her next to the bodies of the two Extremis soldiers killed by Peter.

Then he walked to the workbench in the laboratory, which was filled with various instruments and reagents.

"There is an Extremis virus here, but almost all the blood in her body is in her chest cavity, which cannot support the Extremis virus circulating throughout her body to complete the modification."

Peter now knew what he had to do.

He searched the lab and found a syringe with a needle.

Peter quickly ran to Maya and pulled down the pants of a dead soldier.

The two Extremis soldiers he killed both had fatal head wounds, and their upper bodies were almost completely drained of blood.

Peter inserted the syringe into the femoral artery in the groin of the corpse, drew out a tube of blood that had not yet clotted, and injected it directly into Maya's body, disregarding blood type or other issues.

Tony arrived at that moment with a unit of Extremis virus.

He first injected Maya with the Extremis virus. After Peter finished injecting the second vial of blood, he twisted Maya's limbs and pressed on various parts of Maya's body.

Maya's heart had stopped beating, and the aorta next to her heart had been severed. Conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation could not help her circulate blood, so this method was the only way to replace it until she was completely brain dead.

Peter dealt with the Extremis soldiers quickly; only two minutes had passed since Maya was hit by the bullet.

It takes four minutes for the brain to go from oxygen deprivation to the point where brain cells begin to die in large numbers; there's still time.

Peter injected Maya with several more vials of blood, nearly draining the two Extremis soldiers' bodies dry.

At this point, Maya's body had begun to swell due to being filled with blood, but there were still no signs of it being modified by the virus.

Peter used hemostatic gel to seal all the transfusion holes on Maya's limbs, and then stopped Tony from pressing on Maya.

"Her blood pressure is too high right now. If we forcefully press on it, her blood vessels in her brain will definitely burst first and destroy her brain."

"What do we do?" Tony asked in despair, seeing that the Extremis virus was not working.

"Make a hole in a safe part of her chest cavity to drain the blood."

By lowering her blood pressure through bloodletting, we can allow her blood to circulate spontaneously once. If this still doesn't work, I'm sorry...

Tony didn't hesitate: "Let's do it this way."
