American comic book: Absolute Spider-Man
Chapter 71 Upgrading Jarvis
The Quinjet was flying on its return route. Inside the cockpit, Tony sat in his seat, leaning back, covered with a blanket, looking exhausted.
Wanda's hypnosis brought back the hallucinations he hadn't experienced in a long time. He was furious and cursed, "I finally managed to cure my anxiety, and this little madwoman (wannabe edgy) has brought it all back."
Tony was referring to as Wanda Maximoff, who was wearing a red leather jacket, black leather pants, and smoky makeup.
At this moment, Wanda was lying on the medical bed in the cabin, with a brainwave interference device attached to her temple to prevent her from waking up.
On the floor next to the medical bed lay his twin brother, Pietro Maximov, conscious and bound by heavy vibranium shackles.
When Tony scolded his sister, he didn't argue back, but instead calmly recounted their story.
"That night, our family sat down for dinner." Pietro stared at the ceiling, his gaze unfocused. "Mom made stew, and Dad opened a bottle of red wine. It wasn't anything fancy, but with war raging just a few dozen kilometers away, it was a meal we might not get to eat for a month. Dad poured a few drops of wine into the bottom of Wanda's and my glasses, and then the first missile came crashing down."
His tone was so calm that it didn't sound like he was telling his own story.
"The missile exploded in our house. I lay on the ground, my ears ringing, and I couldn't hear anything. Wanda was shouting, but I couldn't hear what she was shouting. I could only see her mouth moving. Another missile came down, but it didn't explode. It just quietly stuck in the floor not far from us, and then the building collapsed."
Tony spun his chair around, turned to look at the twins, and listened quietly as Pietro spoke.
"We were buried in the rubble, small and cramped, only able to hunch over. There was no water, no food, only concrete dust clogging our noses and mouths. Mr. Stark, do you know what it tastes like to taste dust on your tongue?"
The only sound in the cabin was the hum of the engines; Tony didn't answer.
"The dud missile lay in the rubble, not far from where we were in the mezzanine. Through the cracks in the rubble, we could even see the Stark Industries logo on the missile."
"Later, the rescue team arrived. They cleared away the debris, and when the light shone through, we were pulled up and allowed to breathe. The air smelled of gunpowder, dust, and—and other smells."
"We said, 'My parents are still down there,' and the rescue team kept digging. Watching them move the rubble piece by piece and remove the steel bars one by one, they dug for hours until they finally found them..."
Pietro's throat moved.
"There were a few pieces of tattered cloth mixed in with the concrete and broken bricks... and a pile of shredded flesh. It was so shredded that it was impossible to piece it together. There was another person next to us covered in blood, with steel bars stuck in their body. It was impossible to tell who was who. The rescue team members stood up, looked at us, and said, 'Are you sure this is the floor where your parents live?' I nodded, and then they stopped digging."
Pietro struggled to turn his head and looked at Tony in the seat, seeing the extremely painful expression on Tony's face.
Pietro continued, "You call Wanda a 'spiritual girl,' you call Wanda a 'spiritual girl,' but have you ever considered—how old was she when she entered the orphanage?"
Tony stared into Pietro's eyes but did not answer.
Ignoring Tony, Pietro continued, "Ten years old. Sokovia is a poor place. The orphanages here aren't like those in America, with lawns, swings, and counseling. Here, you only find orphanages where there aren't enough rooms, not enough blankets, older kids bully younger kids, and nobody cares if you cry."
Hearing this, Peter wanted to refute Pietro, pointing out that the United States has one of the highest rates of missing children in the world. Given their appearance, if they had entered an orphanage in the US, they would have long since gone from being cold, impersonal little kids to becoming warm, familiar numbers in the orphanage director's bank account.
But given the current atmosphere, Peter obediently kept his mouth shut.
"So next time you want to insult her and call her a 'spiritual little sister,'" Pietro closed his eyes, "think about how old she was when she lost her parents, think about what kind of ruins she crawled out of, think about whose fragments she was clutching in those ruins."
For a moment, no one spoke; only the echoing sound of the fighter jet engines reverberated in the cabin.
……
Five days later, at Avengers Tower.
Peter had just returned from the DC Universe, hadn't had time alone with Gwen, hadn't reunited with Uncle Ben and Aunt May, and hadn't dealt with his own company's affairs; all his time was occupied by the Avengers.
The first task was to set up Wanda's cell. Unlike Pietro's cell, which only required high-strength materials, Wanda's cell needed to be arranged in an extremely complex way.
Chaos magic has the ability to rewrite reality; even the strongest materials can be transformed into a wafer by chaos magic.
Peter set up numerous white magic loops, derived from the Vishanti Order, in the cell where Wanda was imprisoned to prevent her from escaping.
Peter waited until everything was set up before remotely turning off the brainwave interference device on Wanda's head.
As for now, inside the laboratory in Avengers Tower.
After discussing it, Peter and Tony decided to develop strong artificial intelligence.
It's not Ultron, but rather an upgrade to Jarvis based on the energy matrix inside the Mind Stone on Loki's scepter and the underlying algorithm of Thor, the artificial intelligence of the absolute universe.
Unlike Tony's goal of building a global defense system and arming the Earth with armor, Peter felt that what was lacking was a combat force that could play a role at the information level.
Before you encas the Earth in armor, first encas the global internet.
To avoid the situation where you're sleeping soundly one day, your spider senses suddenly go off incessantly, and when you wake up to find nuclear bombs flying everywhere, you get sued for copyright infringement by the Terminator next door—that would be too much fun.
Jarvis's upgrade is nearing completion, but to unleash the full potential of this powerful AI, a super-powerful server is needed.
So, just like in the movie, we need to build him a body.
Peter used magic to shatter the outer shell of the Mind Stone on the scepter and retrieved the yellow stone inside.
Looking at the red vibranium body printed with Dr. Helen Zhao's Regeneration Cradle technology inside the metal cabinet that resembled a coffin, Peter held the gem and placed it on Jarvis's new server, or rather, body's forehead.
The metal cabinet lid closed, and Tony, Dr. Banner, and Princess Shuri began to transfer Jarvis onto the body.
Peter's phone beeped, and when he opened it, he was surprised to see it was the Ancient One.
She messaged Peter, asking him to visit Kamar-Taj when he had time.
Peter greeted everyone, opened the portal, and went inside.
