Fanatics of the Magic Academy

Chapter 18 [Wind Network Perception]

Rose quickly found a relatively open spot, set up the tent, and laid out the mattress.

I tidied up the inside of the tent and piled up clothes, food and supplies.

The tent wasn't very big, but Rose's small size made up for it perfectly.

Rose lay down inside to try it out, and it was quite spacious for him.

He zipped up the tent and changed to a more comfortable one... Ah, I must say, this new tent with the mattress is so comfortable no matter how you lie down.

Rose closed his eyes, activated [Ancient Dragon Meditation], and quickly lost consciousness.

After an unknown amount of time, Rose opened her eyes. The food she had eaten that morning had been mostly digested.

He felt his physical fitness had improved slightly, but the improvement wasn't yet reflected on the display panel.

My energy is much higher, and my concentration has improved slightly; it's now at 16 points.

We've taken another step closer to achieving full-day coverage of [materialism]. The future is promising!

He opened the tent, looked up at the sky, which was still overcast.

Rose could roughly estimate that he had slept for about two hours.

He discovered that in the [Gu Long meditation] state, he lost his perception of time.

However, once the meditation is over, he can roughly estimate how long he has been meditating.

It's around noon now, almost afternoon.

He thought for a moment and decided to go find the old homeless man to see if he was awake. If he was awake, he would ask him to teach him magic.

With that thought in mind, he took a can of food from the tent, put it in his pocket, and walked toward the old homeless man's tent.

Soon, he arrived at the old homeless man's place.

By this time, the old homeless man had woken up.

He sat in the tent, his eyes numb and vacant, staring blankly at the dirty street.

Rose had already come to his side, but he remained motionless and unresponsive.

Rose stood beside him and patted the old homeless man on the shoulder:

"Mr. Kenneth, Mr. Kenneth!"

Kenneth then seemed to snap out of his daze, turning his head to look blankly at Rose.

"Oh, it's you. What brings you here..."

"I've come to learn magic from you."

Rose took a can of food from her pocket and handed it to Kenneth:

"Mr. Kenneth, you haven't eaten yet, have you? This is something I bought especially for you."

"Oh, learning magic..."

Kenneth gradually came to his senses, his cloudy eyes slowly regaining focus, and he stiffly reached out to take the can of food.

"Oh, right, I remember you also had a booster."

Kenneth's eyes finally lit up when the enhancer was mentioned.

He snapped out of his numb state, and a terrifying light shone from his deeply sunken eyes.

He anticipates an urgent match against the Roma circuit:

"Come, I'll teach you a new spell, [Air Blade]. It has four runes, and it's perfect for you."

Rose shook her head and refused:

"One attack method is enough for now. I need a reconnaissance method. Teach me the magic for reconnaissance."

Kenneth's emotions fluctuated slightly; had it been before he used the enhancer, he probably would have been furious again.

But he was now unusually listless, and he explained to Rose:

"Perception-type magic is much more complex than simple destructive magic."

"Most perception spells are level 2 spells, with only a few simplified to level 1, which still require a full 35 points of sanity..."

At this point, he paused, remembering that this seemingly illogical child possessed a rationality far exceeding that of ordinary people.

He scratched his messy hair and said:

"Alright, I can teach you, but you need to be prepared, there are a total of 10 runes."

"This is a huge leap for someone like you who has just mastered a 3-rune first-circle spell."

Rose was overjoyed. For his current situation, mastering a reconnaissance method was far more useful than enriching his attack methods.

"Mr. Kenneth, please teach me."

Kenneth stiffly twisted his body, turned around, took out paper and pen from the tent, and spread them out on the ground.

He yawned and said listlessly:

"What I'm going to teach you is the first-circle storm magic [Wind Web Perception], which requires more than 35 points of sanity and is almost as difficult as a second-circle spell."

"It consists of 10 runes in total, namely..."

[Wind!] [Center on me] [Spread out] [Weave a network] [Attach to ordinary objects] [Sensitize vibrations] [Establish resonance] [Gather in me] [Filter] [Translate]

"Specifically, it is egocentric, weaving a wind web similar to a spider web, and using the wind web to transmit information back to the brain."

"I believe you've also noticed that your high level of rationality not only allows you to intervene in reality, but also gives you a perception that's extraordinary."

"This magic combines rational intervention in reality with the perception of abnormalities, creating an effect where 1+1 is greater than 2."

Rose nodded after listening, gaining a deeper understanding of how reason is the source of magical power.

Reason is like a pile of explosives. Explosives have the most basic physical properties; they can hurt people, dazzle the eyes, and...

This is the most basic usage, like Rose using her high level of rationality combined with telekinesis to trip someone.

However, by using certain methods, such as violent impact or ignition, to detonate explosives, they can cause damage far exceeding that of hitting people or blinding them.

This is equivalent to the runes and magic that Kenneth taught Rose, which are extremely efficient at utilizing the sanity attribute.

Afterwards, Kenneth listlessly drew runes in his notebook, yawning every now and then.

He would pause after making two strokes, and then start yawning and tearing up.

Sometimes he would even close his eyes after writing just a couple of strokes, resulting in crooked and messy drawings.

I had no choice but to turn it over and start drawing again.

The side effects of the enhancer began to appear.

No matter how powerful a magician you once were, under the ravages of the enhancement agent,

They can't even concentrate on the most basic things.

No wonder Kenneth vomited for a long time before recovering when he used [Air Compression] on Rose.

Leaving aside the Storm rune, "Wind!", which Rose had learned before,

Kenneth spent a full two hours drawing the remaining nine runes, stopping and starting along the way!

Fortunately, Rose was patient, and it was still early.

He finally finished drawing it.

Then, Kenneth opened his notebook, turned to the rune "Wind!", and pointed to a node that was slightly off-center, saying:

"This perception-based magic is different from the attack-based magic; the next rune must be placed at this point in the declaration."

Then, he flipped through the notebook and marked out all the connection points of the runes one by one.

After doing all this, he handed the notebook to Rose, his mouth opening and closing numbly as he said:

"These runes are too numerous and too complex. You can take them back and study them in your notebook."

Seeing Rossai take the notebook, his cloudy, weary eyes gradually brightened. He rubbed his hands together and said to Rossai:

"Then...where's the enhancement agent? Give it to me, brat, and I'll teach you more magic later!"

Instead of taking out the enhancer, Rose leisurely put the notebook into her pocket.
