adventurers in the sewers

Chapter 7 I am delighted with the attributes I have acquired.

Judging from the other person's posture and body shape, Louis initially deduced that the other person was a woman.

He stepped forward and sat down opposite the hooded woman, and took the initiative to introduce himself:

"Hello, I am Louis, the guide commissioned to exterminate the Flesh Slime. May I ask your name?"

"Nora."

A quiet, pleasant girl's voice came from under the hood, and then there was no further explanation, except that a commission form was pushed in front of Louis.

Louis took it and finally saw the full picture of the commission that concerned him.

[Commission: High-Threat Monsters in the Sewers]

【Service Level: Standard】

[Commission Description: A young adventurer, while exploring the sewers, discovered a flesh-and-blood slime with the potential to evolve into a transcendent monster. A veteran adventurer has already been killed by it!]

[Request Requirements: Defeat the target promptly and retrieve the monster core and the victim's belongings.]

[Bounty: 15 Silver Coins]

Louis's pupils contracted slightly as he looked at the amount listed in the bounty column.

Fifteen taels of silver is equivalent to more than two months' salary for an adult male worker.

And if the mission goes smoothly, the woman sitting opposite him can earn such a large sum of money in less than a day.

For a time, Louis even thought that being an adventurer was a very promising and high-quality job.

But then he thought again that any strong person who could complete this task would be well-paid even if they didn't become an adventurer and just took any job.

We can't just see industry elites making money and ignore the countless people at the bottom who have failed in this industry.

Louis had just finished reading the entire contents of the commission when the hooded girl said:

"Lead the way."

He really doesn't want to say a single word more...

Louis muttered a complaint to himself, but nodded outwardly. He quickly went to the storage room to retrieve his spear, changed into his boots, and led the hooded girl Nora out the door.

Louis skillfully moved a manhole cover aside and climbed down.

"The sewer smells bad, please bear with it."

Louis offered a reminder, but as soon as he looked up, he saw Nora already hanging on the rusty metal ladder, descending step by step.

From Louis's perspective, he could clearly see that beneath the girl's wide cloak were a pair of slender, long, beautiful legs, her skin so white it seemed to glow, drawing one's gaze like a black hole.

Of course, Louis didn't see anything he shouldn't have, because the other person was wearing shorts.

With a hint of regret, Louis turned his gaze away and quickened his pace downwards to avoid being stepped on in the face by the girl above him.

Arriving in the dark sewers, where only blue luminescent plants provided light and it was unsuitable for human habitation, Louis felt as at home.

Without a map, he could always keep the hooded girl on the right route.

Before long, Louis smelled the familiar stench of the flesh slime and stepped onto the dried slime.

Louis looked at the hooded girl: "We'll be there soon, please get ready."

The latter nodded slightly.

After following the slime for about fifteen minutes, the familiar dark red wall of flesh came into Louis's view.

Having completed his task of leading the way, Louis retreated without hesitation behind the young woman, so that he could escape if the hooded girl overturned.

Nora ignored Louis's reaction and slowly walked to within three meters of the flesh slime.

This distance clearly falls within the hunting radius of the flesh slime.

Louis observed from afar, and then saw the enormous fleshy wall, which had been harmless and moved as slowly as a snail, suddenly shoot out three tentacles as thick as a baby's arm, with suckers and fleshy spikes at the tips, attacking Nora from different directions.

The speed was so fast that Louis only had time to think, "No wonder that veteran adventurer failed."

But Nora's movements were faster than the tentacles.

She lifted her cloak, revealing a white, jade-like staff.

This staff is clearly made of human bone, because at the top of the staff, a human hand bone is tightly gripping a fist-sized spherical black gem.

It has a sense of holiness amidst its eeriness.

The hooded girl swung her staff forward, and a grayish-white mist surged from the gem in the staff, flowing towards the flesh slime.

When the mist comes into contact with the flesh slime, both its tentacles and flesh walls immediately undergo a transformation.

The incredibly elastic fleshy tentacles and massive fleshy walls, like vegetables being stir-fried over a high flame, visibly softened, twisted, oozed water, and rapidly collapsed.

Less than a minute later, the massive fleshy wall that had blocked the sewer turned into crimson, foul-smelling blood, most of which was washed away by the reopened waterway.

Louis carefully avoided the excess blood and sewage overflowing from the sewer before walking to the hooded girl's side.

The girl was too close to the flesh wall, and inevitably a lot of foul-smelling blood splattered on her body.

However, she didn't pay any attention to it, and instead squatted down to examine the highly corroded adventurer's corpse.

Beside the corpse, besides his sword and some scattered equipment, lay an eyeball encased in a translucent mass of flesh, bloodshot and with yellowish whites, wriggling as if it were alive.

[High-value corpse detected. Proceed to collect attributes?]

Hearing the notification sound in his ear and the virtual arrow above his eyeball, Louis suddenly realized.

This must be the 'monster core' described in the commission request.

In the eyes of the Golden Finger, this was the corpse of a flesh and blood slime.

Two shots in one go, not bad at all.

In order to secure the benefits as quickly as possible, Louis did not hesitate and immediately pretended to be curious, quickly stepping forward to touch the monster's core.

To Louis's surprise, this time the pickup wasn't like the previous ones where you just touched it and that was it; instead, a progress bar appeared.

[Picking up... 5%... 10%...]

Is it because there are too many attributes to pick up, so it takes some time?

After checking the progress bar, Louis estimated that he would have to wait about twenty seconds to complete the pickup.

He had no choice but to hold the monster's core in his hand and keep rubbing it, just like he was playing with a walnut.

Seemingly finding it strange, Nora looked away from the corpse and at Louis.

Louis was a little embarrassed, and tried to make conversation:

"Miss Nora, you're really amazing! You killed such a strong flesh slime so easily. Are you really not a superhuman?"

Louis thought the other party wouldn't pay attention to his words, given his insignificant status, but to his surprise, the latter answered seriously.

Nora: "I'm not much stronger than him, I just have a natural advantage against these kinds of monsters."

The "he" here naturally refers to the corpse lying there.

Upon hearing this, Louis recalled the human bone staff that Nora had revealed during the battle.

The bone staff, the somber attire, and the ability to counter undead creatures like flesh slimes inevitably reminded Louis of the classic fantasy class—the necromancer.

That's not surprising.

Although he had guessed some of it, he did not directly ask about the other person's profession, so as not to offend anyone.

In the midst of the awkward conversation, twenty seconds finally passed.

A pleasant golden finger notification sound rang out.

[You have picked up the corpse of an 'Elite Flesh Slime'. Attributes: Vitality +2, Extraordinary +2, 'Sewer Creature' Skill Points +5]

In an instant, Louis felt as if a clear spring had been poured over his entire body, making every cell feel comfortable, as if he had been reborn, full of vitality and life.

The two points of vitality boost made him incredibly healthy.

Louis guessed that even if he were injured now, his recovery speed would be much faster than that of a normal person.

If you are a 60 or 70-year-old, you would probably feel 10 or 20 years younger because of these two aspects of vitality.

The two extraordinary attributes pushed Louis a big step toward becoming an extraordinary being, not to mention the importance of skill points.

A bumper harvest!

And there's a high-value corpse next to it that we haven't touched yet.

With anticipation, Louis tossed the monster core aside and placed his hand on the adventurer's corpse, which resembled a large, braised egg.
