Time Travel 04: I Fight the US in the Middle East

With that thought in mind, Azam picked up the blade of a utility knife and carefully attached it to the lower part of the drone's nose, near the center of gravity. Instantly, the drone appeared to have fangs bared, as if it were equipped with a scythe to reap death!

Whoosh!

Azam threw it again, and this time, the drone took off in a flash, no longer wobbling and falling like before!

Ascending, descending, hovering... and even more stable in direction because of the multiple blades!

The controls are perfectly fine!

Boom!

The test was successfully completed as the drone landed on the fire-fighting mat!

Azam picked up the drone, his heart filled with emotion.

How much did the manufacturer of this RQ-11 drone give to the Smith commissioners? The payload is only the weight of a blade.

The blade should be able to cut the target, but how do you ignite it next?

Adding extra payload is impractical, so we can only rely on existing solutions. We can simply modify the battery circuitry to cause a momentary short circuit when the drone completes its mission...

The operation was swift and efficient; by the time things were finished on one side, the fire truck on the other side had also been modified!

"Leader Azam, we have already modified three fire trucks, and they are ready to go at any time!" Ali-Hazim said excitedly, pointing to the modified Mercedes-Benz NG80 fire trucks.

When those aluminum alloy hatches are closed, nothing can be seen from the outside. But once they're opened... the ferocious machine guns will be revealed!

"Also, news just came from Khalil's side that the retreat route has been planned!"

Azam nodded: "Alright, now that everything is ready, let's get started!"

By this time, the sun had already moved away from overhead and slid down to the west!

Azam gestured to the people around him, and immediately three soldiers ran forward a few steps and threw the drone out!

Whoosh, whoosh!

Three RQ-11 drones took to the sky!

As they watched the plane depart, some people still had doubts: "Will our tactics... work?"

Snapped!

Ali-Hazem smacked his brother on the head: "What did you say? Don't doubt the leader! Our leader is omnipotent! Always doubting this and that, are you a walking encyclopedia of questions?"

At this moment, Azam was carefully operating the control panel.

A ground control center can control up to three drones. In practice, two operators are usually assigned: one to control the flight attitude and the other to monitor the data transmitted by the sensors. Now, Azam has to operate them all by himself!

We arrived here in a hurry and couldn't replicate the classic tactics from later generations. We'll have to train the equipment and personnel later...

He carefully operated the drone while contemplating future development.

The RQ-11 drone, powered by an electric motor, is not fast, with a maximum speed of only 81 kilometers per hour. Moreover, under these conditions, the power stored in the battery is consumed at an alarming rate!

Under normal circumstances, it can only fly at a speed of about 30 kilometers per hour, so it would take 20 minutes to cover a distance of 10 kilometers.

Azam was in no hurry, operating the drone to fly slowly at low altitude, avoiding any possible dangers along the way, and even deliberately avoiding crowds to avoid being discovered.

At this moment, everyone gathered around, looking at the images on the control panel screen, all of them in high spirits.

Our leader is omnipotent! The US military's equipment is used so smoothly!

Look, look, a large military base appears on the screen.

The entire base is rectangular and covers a vast area!

The base is heavily guarded.

Stryker armored vehicles were on guard around the base, and Humvees were patrolling, providing a defense with virtually no blind spots!

Apart from the US military, it's impossible to let any locals in, not even for hard labor!

To take down the US military's helicopter base, we need to come up with a killer move!

It's impossible to go directly there; we'll be intercepted on the outskirts.

Fire a few mortar shells or 107mm rockets from a distance is fine, but the accuracy won't be very high, and at most it can only be used for harassment, not to completely destroy the US air power. The only way... is to go in!

Azam's battle plan was... to get the Americans to invite us over!

Now, this plan is gradually unfolding!

The drones, flying at extremely low altitudes, passed through these outer defense lines and continued flying inwards, finally reaching the interior of the base!

This is a key U.S. military outpost in Iraq, covering 15 square kilometers. It has ammunition depots, fuel depots, spacious hangars, a joint command center, medical facilities, and living quarters that can accommodate several thousand people, with a maximum capacity of tens of thousands of U.S. troops.

Of course, this is data from later generations.

After the U.S. military occupied Iraq in 03, it began to build this base. However, it took several years and $3.8 million to complete the construction.

The base is not nearly as large as it would be in later years. It mainly consists of a large helipad built for helicopter take-off and landing, some warehouses used as ammunition depots, and some buildings used as temporary camps.

As for the rest... it's still under construction. Even the runway is dirt, suitable for tactical transport aircraft like the C-130 to transport parts. Larger aircraft... can take off and land at the nearby Baghdad International Airport.

The fuel depot was not built either, so the Americans temporarily set up some soft ground-mounted oil storage tanks next to the ammunition depot.

This device uses high-strength synthetic fibers as its skeleton and is covered inside and out with high-molecular elastic materials. When not in use, it can be folded up, rolled into a roll, and taken away. When needed, it can be unfolded and filled with fuel.

Once filled, they look like large pillows, somewhat similar to... the solar-powered hot water bottles that people in rural areas like to put on their rooftops in the summer, only many times larger.

The fuel delivered by the M978 tanker truck will all be poured here, and then transported directly to the helipad through underground pipelines, which will make refueling helicopters much more convenient!

At this moment, two or three of the row of fuel tanks were already deflated, after all, the helicopter had just been refueled, but the other fuel tanks were still full. It’s easy to tell at a glance whether there is fuel in these flexible fuel tanks!

As he watched the scene captured by the drone, Azam held his breath. The US military was still using field oil transfer systems, just like he remembered!

I guessed right! Next... next comes choosing a target!

Near the ammunition depot?

of course not!

If they really blow up the ammunition depot, then we won't be needed anymore!

Azam pushed the control handle, sending the drone flying towards the oil tank furthest from the ammunition depot! Now, the moment of miracle has arrived!

In this era, drones are mostly used for reconnaissance and artillery spotting, and it is rare for drones to launch direct attacks. Moreover, this time, they did not use traditional weapons!

That's good, because the Americans can't tell at all whether it's a safety accident or sabotage!
