Warhammer: Primarch's Life from the Beginning
Chapter 26 The Holy Commandment
A few days later, the Star Torch resumed operation, and all space routes originating from Terra returned to normal.
Leo sat in a small shuttle, leaning back in his seat, his gaze fixed on the outside through the porthole. The shuttle was piercing through Terra's murky atmosphere, its destination the dock located in Terra's orbit.
Through the heavy porthole of the shuttle, the combat nuns sitting opposite him watched quietly as the scenery outside rose higher and higher. When the aircraft had completely left the atmosphere and the starry sky unfolded before them, the corners of their lips still turned up slightly.
Leo watched that scene and his mood relaxed as well.
These past two days have been so relaxing. Leo was on edge every day during his time in the Imperial Guard. He was used to being a beast of burden and had never experienced the Primarch's life where he could command a large following.
Looking at this sea of stars, I bet many people would like to leave their home planet and venture into its depths.
Catherine was no longer inside the shuttle.
Her temporary posting ended with the war, and the court had new important matters to attend to. Last night, she bid farewell to Leo without saying much and returned to headquarters to report for duty.
Everyone has secrets, let alone a courtroom.
Guilliman kept his promise and ordered a battleship to be separated from his own naval fleet and given to Leo.
Aside from the Makurag's Glory, this was the best ship he could offer. When Leo received the news that most of the ship's hull had been sent to Mars for repairs and upgrades and was now undergoing final adjustments in Terra orbit, he couldn't resist coming to see it for himself.
The shuttle continues to ascend.
As they drew closer to their destination, Leo finally caught a glimpse of his future ride in the distance.
She hovered outside the dock, a colossal steel beast suspended in the dark universe.
The warship was twelve kilometers long, three kilometers wide, and two kilometers high, resembling a metal mountain. The bow was carved with an imperial eagle with outstretched wings. The heavy armor plates were layered upon each other, and there were densely packed cannons, boarding gates, launch tubes, and turrets. The huge Gothic cathedral spire stood high on the back of the ship, as if it wanted to pierce the void.
The nuns around Kara, peering out the window, began to quietly gasp in surprise.
"By the Divine Emperor!"
"This is much bigger than the missionary ship we came on."
"Compared to her, that ship is like a broken can."
After saying her last sentence, Kara turned her head and coughed lightly, signaling her subordinates to be mindful of etiquette. Then she saw Leo also leaning against the window, staring intently.
Leo clearly loved this huge, waaagh-like creature and was completely absorbed in watching it.
.
"The Holy Commandment, an Opalon-class battleship."
what?
Leo only came to his senses when the sound rang out.
Unbeknownst to them, they were already standing within the enclosed area of the orbital dock.
The accompanying dock supervisor, an elderly technician whose body was half-replaced by machinery, introduced the distant vehicles in a heavily electronic voice.
He raised his mechanical arm and pointed towards the giant ship in the distance.
"In the later stages of the Great Expedition, the Martian Mechanicus, in order to compensate for the tactical shortcomings of the Imperial Expeditionary Fleet, such as the heavy battleships being too cumbersome and the light battleships lacking firepower, improved the Opalon-class, a general-purpose ship."
"It was equipped with large cannons, light lances, a large number of carrier-based aircraft, and even an advanced radar system from the Great Expedition era, basically encompassing the functions of other battleship models."
Leo was puzzled but impressed, and he nodded repeatedly.
He didn't understand these engineering and mechanical things either; he just thought that bigger was better, and the older the better, which was usually true in Warhammer.
But the Holy Commandment? That name...
If he remembered correctly, the Holy Commandment was supposed to be the flagship of the future Third Fleet of the Unyielding Expedition. Guilliman had given him such a good thing.
Leo silently shed tears, adding another point to Thirteenth Prince's score!
The veteran technician continued his report, saying that the ship had embarked on a long expedition from Alteramar and arrived in the solar system severely damaged. Although it was now almost fully repaired, supplies for living and combat were still being loaded. More than half of the original 400,000 crew members had been killed or wounded, and replacements were being selected in Terra, which would take some time. Leo expressed his understanding.
Anyway, I'm content to have seen it once this time, and then Leo planned to return to the palace to look up some information about the imperial planet.
.
.
After they returned to the Lion Gate spaceport, Kara suddenly called out to him.
"Your Highness."
Leo turned to look at her and noticed that she was unusually hesitant, her fingers curling as she unconsciously rubbed her wristband.
"What's wrong?"
"My duties as your attendant in Terra have actually come to an end," she said first, then quickly added as if afraid Leo might misunderstand, "but if possible, I would like to continue following you."
Kara took a breath, her face still showing a hint of barely suppressed anticipation.
"What you said to His Highness Guilliman before seems to me no different from a myth."
"However, a Battle Sister needs official certification to leave her order. My order is not in Terra, so I would like to request that you take me to the Holy Headquarters and ask the High Lord of the Battle Sisters to issue me permission."
After listening, Leo had only one thought in his mind.
The national education system has a lot of rules and regulations.
However, he had originally planned to make one last contact with the high lords before leaving, so he simply agreed.
"Okay, I'll take you there."
.
.
The main temple of Saints was much quieter than the outside world.
This place is considered the headquarters of the nuns in the entire empire.
The nuns walked quickly along the way, dressed in various uniforms. Some carried holy books, some carried cleaning supplies to repair shop windows, and some explained the precepts to prospective members in the corridor. They all looked very focused.
People passing by Leo bowed their heads in greeting, not daring to linger for too long before quickly leaving.
After the guards announced his arrival, Morven Vale quickly came out to greet him.
The head nun, a warrior, stood tall and walked with a steady gait, her face completely expressionless. Without further ado, she gave Leo a solemn bow and then personally led him to the main hall.
After Leo explained his purpose, Mo Wen did not hesitate at all.
"Since it's your wish, I will naturally support it."
"But now that the time is ripe, why don't you ascend to the throne and take over the state church now? Once the Pope summons the cardinals from each star sector and completes the appointment ceremony, things can be settled."
Leo shook his head.
"I may not have that much time. I can't wait much longer. The God-Emperor has already sent down a revelation, guiding me to a new battlefield."
Upon hearing this, Mo Wen nodded, stopped, slowly raised his hand to his forehead, and whispered a prayer.
When she lowered her hand, her eyes revealed regret.
"That is indeed a pity. Perhaps we can only discuss it again when you return in triumph."
After she finished speaking, she turned to look at Kara.
"This court official was originally in Terra to report for duty and prepare for promotion. The appointment letter should have been issued long ago, but it was delayed by the war."
"Since this is her wish, after completing the appointment, she can follow you as the head nun of the branch temple. And judging from the situation, the several days of review and fasting can be skipped."
As Mo Wen finished speaking, Chao Kala slightly raised his chin.
"Come with me, cleanse yourselves, and take the oath."
Kara dared not utter a sound in front of her, quickly bowed her head to obey, and followed in Mo Wen's footsteps.
The dozen or so novice nuns beside her also followed in two lines, carrying ritual implements and the Bible, their steps small but silent.
Leo stood still and did not move forward.
What happened next was not something he could see.
