Warhammer: Primarch's Life from the Beginning
Chapter 60 Slaying
The sword fell.
At the last moment, the lair lord crossed and raised its four forelimbs, its bone blades forming a defensive barrier, attempting to deflect the attack using the same method. Its torso sank, and several appendages dug into the ground, planning a counterattack the instant it was attacked.
But Leo didn't give it a chance this time.
The moment the Divine Punishment Sword struck the bone blade, golden flames exploded from the point of contact, and Leo's spiritual energy surged into it through the monster's slashed wound.
Oh!
Its entire arm, along with the connecting part of its torso, was burned from the inside by the flames, breaking into several pieces like a withered branch.
The monster hissed, the sound echoing through the passage, carrying the agony of its burning body. In just a moment, half of its upper body had melted and exploded, the aftershocks of that slash still lingering within its body.
Its psionic energy is not weak, it is even quite strong, but in front of this unreasonable human, it is as vulnerable as a child.
It tried to retreat.
Its torso lost its balance, and its upper body tilted to the left. Instinctively, its remaining limbs reached for the ground, trying to drag its body back to a safe distance.
Leo did not sheathe his sword.
Using the momentum of his downward strike, he rotated his shoulder, and the holy sword slashed horizontally. The blade sliced across the lair lord's chest and abdomen, cutting a gash along the base of its torso. The carapace was torn open, and the dark purple fluid inside immediately gushed out, but was instantly incinerated into gas by psionic energy, spraying out a thick mist.
But it still hasn't fallen.
Its compound eyes remained fixed on Leo, but most of them had lost focus. The monster's massive head twitched slightly, as if recalibrating its damaged nerves.
Muscle fibers contract rapidly, and new bone blades, glistening with bodily fluids, emerge from the fracture surface, continuously repairing the damaged area.
Its speed far exceeded Leo's expectations.
At the same time, the blood vessels on the wall of the passage began to pulsate faster in its direction, and the sound of the fluid flowing became sharper inside the wall.
It is trying to extract nutrients from the entire nest.
The nursery has been burned down, but a huge organic structure still exists underground.
As an organic creation of collective consciousness, the entire nest is actually a unified whole, responding to the survival instinct of the node creature. They channel nutrients into it, attempting to allow it to reassemble its weapons in the face of intruders.
The lair lord's head visibly reassembled, and new eyes opened one after another.
Its body swelled up again, the carapace at the edge of the laceration on its chest and abdomen began to thicken, and the wound was covered by a layer of new tissue. It wasn't healing; it was more like forcibly stuffing a part of the surrounding nest into its own body.
Then it emitted another hiss.
That was a distress signal sent to the nest.
The Imperial warriors could feel the surrounding organic walls beginning to respond. Crawling sounds came from the cracks, and the scraping of claws against the walls echoed from the depths of the side passages. More aliens were being awakened, summoned, and propelled here.
All of this happened in just a few seconds.
For Leo, it had been long enough; he wouldn't give this monster another chance.
The holy sword traced a path of light, cutting directly into the joint of the forelimb.
The outer carapace, along with the tendons and nerve bundles inside, were severed.
It was no longer as swift as before, and its movements were a beat slower.
As the last limb detached from its torso, the hive lord, now shaved into a club, tumbled and crashed to the ground, its massive body collapsing so hard that the ground caved in.
But these advanced individuals do not die easily; they continue to wriggle and struggle while muttering something.
Leo walked up to it.
He gripped the sword hilt in reverse, holding the tip upright above the lair lord's neck.
The chitinous carapace at the junction of the head and torso is the thickest. The layers of the carapace interlock, like a defense prepared for decapitation, but at this moment, the ventilation gaps at the edge of the carapace open and close repeatedly, exposing the tissue inside.
The tip of the sword found the largest gap.
Leo lowered his arm, and the holy sword slashed horizontally.
Finally, the holy sword pierced through his neck.
The head was separated from the torso.
The hissing abruptly stopped, leaving only the sound of residual fluid flowing in the passage and the crawling sounds of the summoned aliens in the distance.
The sounds began to become chaotic.
They lost their unified guidance; some continued forward, some stopped at a fork in the road, and some bumped into their own kind.
The sound of slug guns could be heard not far away; Kara must have been facing the chaotic swarm of insects rushing towards them.
Leo pulled out the bloodied and mangled holy sword and rushed towards the direction where Kara was fighting.
Aliens poured out from the cracks on both sides of the passageway, but they no longer covered each other or consciously surrounded each other; instead, they instinctively pounced on the nearest living creature.
Some even blocked the backs of their own corpses, pushing and shoving each other, their claws futilely scratching at the backs of their kind.
Leo raised his hand and released his psionic energy. A flame swept forward, melting away the few blocking his path. He stepped on their remains and continued forward.
At the fork in the road ahead, Kara was crouching behind a collapsed bunker, reloading. The ground around her was covered with a layer of alien corpses; several had tried to bypass the line of fire from the side, but she had severed their forelimbs with a single strike of her chainsaw sword.
She looked up at Leo, realizing that the monster had been dealt with by the Primarch. "Your Highness, it seems the hidden aliens are getting impatient. We've become their target now."
"Their leader is dead. Without a leader, this group is no threat." As he said this, golden flames, which had not been seen for a long time, ignited on Leo's body, illuminating the passage with a dazzling light. "We have to kill all the aliens here. I'm going to give them a good beating."
Leo raised his left arm, palm facing the depths of the tunnel, and psionic energy poured out from his body, transforming into a golden torrent that surged forward along the tunnel. Flames poured into every fork in the road and crack, filled the ventilation ducts overhead, and flooded the fleshy grooves beneath his feet.
The aliens, bewildered by the situation, didn't even have time to make a sound. They were set ablaze in the shadows where they were hiding, swallowed up on the walls they were climbing, and caught up while trying to escape, turning to ashes one after another.
The entire nest was burning, consuming flesh and blood that were not human.
The hissing in the tunnel was replaced by the roar of flames. The remaining walls collapsed, peeled off, and turned into charcoal in the high temperature, gradually revealing the rock layers that had been hidden behind them.
Soon the two returned to the industrial elevator entrance where they had come from.
As the car pulled out its hand, it pressed the mechanical button on the industrial elevator. The gears started grinding again, the cables tightened, and the car slowly rose in the shaft.
The rock walls overhead receded layer by layer, and the still-burning nest beneath our feet was swallowed by the darkness of the shaft. The elevator passed through the old support structures of the mining area, through the sewage pipes at the bottom of the nest, and finally stopped inside the abandoned storage building of the Gray Throat Corridor.
The hatch opened, and the light from the warning star shone in, revealing that it was already daylight outside.
