I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!

Chapter 15: Graystone Town

The Mirror Demon King's smile froze for a moment, but he quickly recovered: "You're right, that's why naming is so important. The same thing, called 'two mirrors reflecting each other' and 'a mirror within a mirror,' gives completely different feelings."

"Let's leave the drawing aside for now," Arthas steered the conversation back on track. "Little monster, which option do you prefer?"

The mirror spirit put away the picture frame and said without hesitation, "Servants in the mirror, but the training fee cannot be reduced. Your Majesty, you should know that training newcomers is very tiring."

"Training is a basic job for a boss; there are no training fees or overtime pay."

"Then you at least need to assign me a deputy," the Mirror Demon King muttered, bargaining. "I want to be the boss, train new recruits, and rehearse plays..."

"We'll talk about the play later."

"What about the portrait exhibition?"

"We'll talk about it later."

The Mirror Demon King seemed to still want to negotiate something, but in the end he just sighed: "Alright, alright... I need to be assigned a deputy, right? I'm really going to burst."

"I'll make the arrangements."

"Alright." The Mirror Demon King waved his hand. "Then I'll go prepare the training materials. By the way, Your Majesty, could you please change the background music for the fourth floor? The current melody is a bit depressing. I've written a theme song..."

"no."

"……All right."

The Mirror Demon King retreated back into the mirror in a huff, muttering before leaving, "They won't even let us change the theme song; the artistic atmosphere of the dungeon is just too terrible."

The mirror surface returned to calm.

The throne room fell silent again.

Arthas looked at Dracula and instructed, "Dracula, the final plan for the fourth level is Carter the Joker paired with Juka the Joker. I will recruit his second-in-command as well."

"Carter the Clown and Joker... are both illusion-type monsters, fitting the theme of the mirror labyrinth on the fourth floor," Dracula noted in the file. "However, both of them have rather restless personalities. Should I communicate with them beforehand?"

"No need. Just put it on the fourth floor."

A flash of white light appeared.

Arthas vanished without a trace.

……

Graystone Town, Dusk Inn.

When Arthas returned to the inn, the sky outside the window was already turning white. He walked to the window and gently pushed open the wooden window.

The crowing of a rooster could be heard in the distance.

Its daybreak.

Arthas leaned against the window frame, watching Graystone Town slowly awaken. This was the first time he had experienced the world as a "human" since his transmigration.

Across the street, the bakery had already placed freshly baked rye bread on its counter. The chubby owner was busy inside preparing to open the shop, and steam was seeping out from the window cracks, carrying a faint aroma of wheat.

Several early-rising adventurers walked past the inn with their packs on their backs. Some looked listless, while others eagerly discussed today's mission.

The little girl selling flowers squatted on the street corner, neatly arranging bunches of wildflowers on the ground, then hunched her neck, her breath spreading in the morning light.

Arthas had peeked into human towns countless times with his crystal ball, watching adventurers boast in taverns, merchants hawking their wares in markets, and children chasing and playing in alleyways.

But all of that was through a crystal ball, through the ripples of magic, like watching a play that would never end.

Alsace stood at the window for a long time until he heard a familiar commotion downstairs.

"Sis, can't you walk a little slower?!"

"You're too slow."

"I didn't sleep well last night! The bed in this hotel is too hard, my back hurts!"

"You're an adventurer, what's with your back pain?"

"Can't adventurers have back pain?"

Arthas looked over and saw Renn rubbing his back as he walked out of the inn, with Oris standing behind him, her face expressionless.

When Raine looked up, he met Arthas's gaze. He immediately grinned and waved vigorously.

"Dick! Good morning! You're up so early?"

"I'm a light sleeper, I don't sleep much."

"Let's go, I'll take you to the Adventurers' Guild!" Renn's tone was filled with eager excitement. "You haven't registered yet, have you? Let's get it done today!"

Arthas raised an eyebrow slightly: "So soon?"

"Of course I'm in a hurry!" Renn rushed up the stairs and into Arthas's room, lowering his voice to say, "With your strength, it would be a waste not to register as an adventurer. Besides, with an adventurer's license, you can get discounts on purchases, take on quests to earn money, and there are so many benefits!"

"An...adventurer?"

Once upon a time, Arthas, who had traveled from another world, hoped to become an adventurer and climb to the top step by step...

"Let's go! Let's go!" Renn grabbed Arthas and headed downstairs, where Oris was already waiting at the door.

The crowds in Greystone Town gradually increased.

Renn led the way, muttering incessantly about the Adventurers' Guild's procedures:

"Registration isn't difficult; it's just filling out a form and taking a simple ability test. You don't need an exam to get the Iron rank; you can get it directly. If you want a higher rank, you'll have to take an assessment, but I think you can start with Iron, since you can always level up later."

"Um."

"By the way, have you decided on your adventurer's codename?"

"...Code name?"

"It's just a nickname! Like 'King of Kai' Renn, how about that, cool, right?" Renn puffed out his chest.

Kai is the king?

Arthas's lips twitched slightly.

Oliss casually added from the side, "That's just an official code name, it's not famous, who cares about you?"

"That's because no one has ever witnessed my strength!"

"What kind of strength can a bronze-level character possess?"

"sister!"

While the two were bickering, the three of them had already reached the central square of Graystone Town.

The Adventurers' Guild building was twice the size of all the surrounding shops, with ivy climbing its stone walls. Two statues of warriors holding swords stood at the entrance, and a griffin with outstretched wings was carved on the lintel—the emblem of the Adventurers' Guild.

There were many people coming and going at the entrance; some were fully armed, some carried packages on their shoulders, and a few mages were chatting at the entrance.

Upon seeing Rennes, someone raised their hand in greeting.

"Raine! I heard you went to Dark Hemcas? How was it? Did you get past the second level?"

"Of course!!" Renn exclaimed triumphantly, "It's a pity the guild locked down the third floor, otherwise I would have passed it too!"

"Wow, not bad! We're not far from Silver!"

"Absolutely!"

Arthas followed behind, watching Renn boast about his achievements to several adventurers, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Oris had already pushed the door open and gone inside. She glanced back at Ryan and said, "Ignore him, come in first."

Arthas strode into the Adventurers' Guild.

The lobby looks more spacious than it does from the outside.

On the left is a row of counters, with several staff members handling business; on the right is a task board covered with parchment, with tasks of all levels, from "eliminating field mice" to "slaying monsters".

Directly opposite is a double gate, and the faint sound of weapons clashing can be heard from behind the gate, suggesting it is a testing ground.

"This way." Olis walked towards the counter.

Ryan finally stopped showing off and caught up.

The staff member behind the counter was a middle-aged woman wearing glasses. Seeing Ryan and Oris, she smiled and greeted them, "Ryan, Oris, here to hand in your mission again?"

"No, I brought a friend to register today." Renn pointed to Arthas beside him.

The staff member's gaze fell on Arthas, sizing him up: "First time registering?"

"Um."

"Okay, please fill out this form first."
