I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!

Chapter 77: Warband Recruitment

As Arthas pinned the golden badge to his chest, someone in the corner suddenly clapped twice, the applause sounding particularly crisp in the empty guild hall at dawn.

He turned his head and saw a man sitting in a corner booth raising his glass in their direction. On the table were half-disassembled chainmail and a whetstone, and the ale beside him had lost its foam, indicating that he had been sitting there for quite some time.

The man stood up, carrying a wine glass, and walked over. He was lean and wore a dark green ranger's coat with a distinctive feather badge embedded in his leather armor.

Arthas had seen this logo on the Adventurers' Guild's list of warbands; it belonged to the Windwhisperers Warband, headquartered in Silvermoon City, one of the top ten warbands on the continent of Asgard.

Their leader is said to be an elf who has lived for four hundred years and has witnessed the changing times.

"Mr. Dick Reynolds." The man approached Arthas, raising a glass in a gesture of respect. "I am Erin, the recruiter for the Windwhisperers Chapter. I've been in Holy City for several days, waiting for someone worthy of my attention."

Arthas glanced at him.

Level 323, Platinum-level adventurer, with calluses on the web of his left hand from years of drawing a bow.

"The Dawn of Light is mobilizing, and you're recruiting. Holy City is bustling lately," Arthas said.

"Indeed." Erin chuckled, pulling a neatly folded parchment from his robes. He unfolded it and pushed it towards Arthas. The parchment bore the silver feather emblem of the Windwhisperers Chapter, below which were large, gold-embossed characters: "Windwhisperers Chapter - Emergency Recruitment Order." The recruitment criteria were threefold: Gold rank or higher, hybrid class, and experience in solo strategy gameplay. All three matched Arthas's criteria.

"We're about to conquer Duskwood," Erin said bluntly. "It's an epic dungeon, and I can guarantee you'll have plenty of opportunities to shine. Wind Whisperers lack damage dealers who can go toe-to-toe with you."

He took out a silver communication ring from his pocket, placed it on the parchment, and said, "If you're interested, you can contact me anytime using this. The entire Holy City knows about Dawn of Light's plan to conquer Dark Hemcas, but think it through. Conquering a legendary dungeon is no easy task."

Arthas did not immediately accept the ring. Just as he was about to speak, the door to the guild hall was pushed open.

The person who entered was wearing a white and gold Dawn of Light battle robe with gold trim, and a sun emblem pinned to his chest. He was tall and had his blond hair tied into a neat ponytail at the back of his head, but there was a strand of silver-white hair on his left temple that was out of place for his age.

All the adventurers who were still awake in the guild hall turned to look at the entrance. Some of those who were sitting far away even stood up, because the current leader of the Dawn of Light, Anrivi Fording, walked in.

She is recognized as the female adventurer "closest to a hero" on the continent of Ashu. She does not usually appear in the guild hall. She has her own command center, a dedicated intelligence adjutant, and a recruitment process that does not require her to go out in person.

An Ruiwei glanced around the guild hall, her gaze lingering on Erin for a very brief moment. During that instant, her expression remained unchanged, but Erin's smile froze slightly. Then, he tactfully stepped back half a step, making room in front of the counter.

An Ruiwei walked up to Arthas. She was half a head shorter than Arthas, but the way she looked at him wasn't like she was looking up at him; it was more like she was reviewing a military parade.

"Dick Reynolds?"

"it's me."

"I am Anrivi Fording, leader of the Dawn of Light Chapter." Anrivi said bluntly, "Join us, the Vastness Squad is short one member, you have one night to consider."

"Is the Vast Expanse Squad a supply squad?"

"I don't need to personally invite the supply team."

This statement was made lightly, but it carries significant weight.

Harold, standing behind the counter, pretended to organize documents, but he couldn't suppress the smile on his lips.

The adventurers who were eavesdropping in the corner exchanged glances, and someone silently whistled.

The fact that the leader of the Dawn of Light personally came to the Adventurers' Guild Hall to "invite" someone is a rare occurrence in the history of Holy City.

Arthas pushed the Windspeaker's Ring back to Arryn. The ring spun halfway around the counter and stopped at the crease of the parchment.

"Good luck." Arlin raised an eyebrow, showing no surprise, but simply picked up his glass of ale, which had long since lost its foam, raised it to Arthas, and then tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp.

He took back the ring, slung the backpack over his shoulder, and spoke with no resentment, only a calm acceptance that he had long been mentally prepared for: "With the leader of the Dawn of Light coming in person, anyone else would lose. But brother, the door to the Wind Whisperer is always open for you."

After speaking, Ailin nodded slightly to An Ruiwei as a greeting, then turned and pushed open the guild's side door.

Only Alsace and Anrivi remained at the counter.

"Tomorrow at dawn, second floor of the Warband Headquarters." An Ruiwei took out a bronze access pass engraved with the Sun Emblem from the inner pocket of her battle robe and placed it on the counter. "Take this with you, and the guards at the door will let you in. If you're late, the captain of the Vast Expanse Squad will personally give you 'make-up training,' and he's not exactly known for his temper."

Arthas picked up the token. On the front was the sun emblem of the Dawn of Light, and on the back was the character "苍" (cāng), with rough strokes, as if it had been carved directly with finger force.

"I will be on time."

"very good."

An Ruiwei turned and walked towards the guild gate, but stopped after a few steps and turned her head to say something.

"By the way. Martha's assessment of you is 'suitable for the Dawn of Light.' There are no more than three people in the entire Holy City who would say that. Don't waste it."

The guild gate slowly closed, the hinges making a low, muffled sound. The hall was quiet for a few seconds, then several small teams that had been waiting for quests all night suddenly burst into a low-voiced discussion in the corner.

Arthas put the token in his pocket, nodded to Harold, and pushed open the door to walk into the night.

The rain was still falling in Holy Radiance City, and a thin layer of water had already accumulated on the ground. He stood on the stone steps of the central square, looking up at the brightly lit headquarters building of the Dawn of Light across the street. The five-story granite building, with warm yellow light shining from every window, resembled a lighthouse that never went out in the rainy night.

Dawn of Light.

This gives me a chance to re-examine Dark Hemcast and see what areas need improvement.

Arthas knew that if he could get the first kill of Dark Hemkas, he would be able to meet more adventurers.

He has paved the way for pursuing a broader vision.

If, as Samigina says, human heroes have disappeared, then there is no need for monsters to crowd into the dungeon.

You can leave the dungeon and establish a monster kingdom.
