I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!

Chapter 81: The Frost Dragon's Preferences

Holy Radiance City, Central Square.

The white light silently shone and then went out deep in the narrow alley.

Arthas stepped out of the teleportation portal, his boots landing on the puddles and splashing up tiny droplets. The sliver of gray sky above had darkened, and the magic crystal streetlights turned on precisely on time, illuminating the entire square as if it were daytime.

He walked out of the narrow alley, crossed the square, and pushed open the side door of the Dawn of Light headquarters.

In the lobby on the first floor, several young members who were wiping their swords looked up at him, then lowered their heads and continued wiping their swords.

Everyone was present in the command center.

Milo lay on the table adding new characters to his parchment covered with stick figures.

Groom tucked the sharpened battle axe into the weapon clasp on his back, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes to rest.

Liz stood in front of the cross-section and repeatedly traced a circle on the twenty-first floor with a charcoal pencil.

Kahn stood at the end of the long table, the sleeves of his gray robe rolled up to his elbows, revealing his forearms covered in old scars.

When Arthas pushed the door open, he was hanging the last scroll of Holy Light on his waist. He didn't even raise his head, but just slightly tilted his chin toward the empty chair next to the long table.

"Everyone's here." Kahn looked up, his gaze sweeping across everyone's faces before finally settling on the red circle on the cross-section diagram that Liz had marked countless times. "The Bone Whisper is a unique-class monster, classified as level 472 according to intelligence, and is undead."

"Its undead domain covers twenty-one layers, and within the domain, it inflicts a small amount of shadow damage every second. It needs to be protected with holy light while dealing with the undead army."

"The Oracle Squad used the Return Stone to escape last night. They held out for thirty minutes, but their supplies ran out and their mana was almost depleted, so they had to retreat. Therefore, we'll take their place tonight."

Groom opened his eyes, pulled out a two-handed battle axe from behind his back, and slammed it heavily onto the floor.

"Set off."

……

Dark Hemkas, Level 1.

The goblin tribe's welcoming ceremony was even more grand than last time. The choir erected a new flag next to the original goblin chieftain's portrait flag, embroidered with the demon king's dragon-like head, with a silhouette of the roller coaster track of Fireland in the background. The lyrics were updated, with an additional verse after the original "Pay money and you can pass, no need to bleed or sweat".

"Fire, Flame Paradise! Welcome! Slides, drop platforms, roller coasters—after defeating the boss, don't rush off! Spin the teacups three times before heading back! Fire, Flame Paradise! So much fun!"

Groom stood at the front of the welcoming line, a battle axe slung over his shoulder, looking as if he were considering whether to chop the entire choir, along with the sheet music in their hands, into firewood.

Liz paid the toll for the entire team and received five commemorative necklaces from the goblin accountant.

"It's been years since I last came here." Grum took the fine-grade short sword from the goblin, stuffed it into the weapon clasp on his back without even looking at it, and said, "I didn't expect the first floor to be in such a state now that we don't even need to fight."

The second layer.

The necromancer seemed to have learned his lesson; he posted a new parchment notice next to the skull gate, neatly written in Common Tongue:

"A warm welcome to the Dawn of Light for your guidance. I have prepared the clearance certificate in advance. No need to queue or fight, please go directly to the right-hand branch channel."

"Respectfully presented by the Second Floor Boss, the Necromancer!"

Next to the signature was a perfectly drawn skull stamp.

Milo squatted in front of the notice for a long time, then couldn't help but click his tongue and say, "How come the monsters in this dungeon are all so cunning? The demon overlord of Blackrock Depths only knows how to shout 'Die, you ants,' repeating the same thing over and over again."

"Because the Dark Hemcas Demon Lord is different from other Demon Lords." Liz stuffed the pass into her pocket and walked towards the branch passage. "I heard that he holds meetings with monsters, and sometimes you'll even encounter mimicry that give out questionnaires."

The third floor is the Flame Paradise.

The lava roller coaster and the spinning fire goblet were packed with screaming adventurers. On the platform, a warrior stood on the edge of the ten-meter platform, clenching his fist to encourage himself. The surging lava below made his face glow red.

The queue stretched from the slide entrance to the safety zone door, with at least four teams waiting to experience the bizarre sensation of being bounced back to the entrance by a fire slime.

The Vast Squad quickly passed through the side passage on the west side of the lava pool. Groom glanced at the magnificent scene inside and let out a muffled groan that was hard to understand.

A long queue formed outside the boss room of the Little Flame Demon, with other adventurers politely making way for the Vast Expanse Team.

As you pass through the gallery of the Mirror King on the fourth floor, you find the Mirror King rehearsing a new stage play in front of a huge floor-to-ceiling mirror. Since Arthas has been slow to agree, the Mirror King offers to perform a stage play for the five of them.

Kahn refused outright.

As they passed through the mirrored exit, the temperature in the passage plummeted. The glowing moss embedded in the rock walls on both sides changed from blue-green to ice-blue. Milo sneezed, Groom's breath condensed into white mist in front of him, and a thin layer of frost formed on the cuffs of Kahn's robe.

The entrance to the fifth floor is a stone door completely covered in frost, with an ice-carved plaque above the doorway bearing several large characters engraved in sharp claw marks:

"The territory of the Frost Dragon is off-limits without permission!"

Below was a line of crooked, small print: "Especially goblins with flamethrowers, get lost!!"

A parchment notice was posted next to it:

Daily Mood Forecast

Today: Cloudy turning into blizzard, accompanied by localized dragon roars.

Tomorrow's forecast: blizzard turning cloudy.

Friendly reminder: You can feed them ice crystal berries.

Groom reached out and pushed the door, but it didn't move. He pushed it again with all his might, but it still didn't move. He took a deep breath and rammed the stone door with his shoulder, but the door didn't budge.

"It's frozen."

Milo raised his staff and used a fireball to melt the ice, and then the stone door was pushed open with a screeching sound.

The sight behind the door made the other four people, except Arthas, stop in their tracks.

It was an ice sculpture zoo.

The original ice cave terrain has been carefully planned into a winding visitor walkway, with a life-size ice sculpture standing every few steps on both sides of the walkway.

At the entrance is a crouching dire wolf with its ears standing upright, mouth slightly open, and barbs clearly visible on its tongue; a few steps further on is a pair of ice crystal deer, the male deer with its head held high and its antlers branching into more than a dozen twigs, and the female deer with its head bowed drinking water, the ice sculpture base carved with water ripples.

Go further in.

The ice bear stands upright with its paws outstretched, and every tooth in its mouth is clearly etched.

A faint, rhythmic chisel-like sound came from deep within the trail, like a woodpecker tapping on a tree trunk.

The five people followed the sound.

Turning past a sculpture of an ice crystal elephant, the massive body of the Frost Dragon crouched in front of an unfinished ice pillar, its back to the path. Its tail slowly swept from side to side across the ground, and its claws held a small piece of ice, intently carving something. It didn't turn around at all, nor did it seem to notice anyone approaching, or perhaps it simply couldn't be bothered to pay attention.

"Ahem." Kahn cleared his throat.

"You can visit, but don't touch it." The frost dragon's voice was hoarse and nonchalant, its claws still meticulously carving into the ice. "The ice bear's teeth were just fixed. If they break again, I'll have the culprit take its place."

Milo leaned closer to take a look at the ice blank in the Frost Dragon's hand. It was an unfinished ice squirrel, with only half of the curve of its tail carved.

He was about to ask if he could take a picture when the Frost Dragon, as if it could read his mind, preemptively shut him up.

"You can take photos with the crystal, but please don't use the flash."
