Wizard: I Have a World of the Dead
030: Lord of Stormwind
These are the results of our recent efforts.
Once all that's done, the next step is to repair the house.
Tailor shops, general stores, blacksmith shops, bakeries, taverns...
Although it would be time-consuming and laborious to repair these things, and even if they were repaired, they wouldn't be of much use, since there wouldn't be another living person living in this city besides him.
But Lynch knew it had to be fixed.
It's always better to have your own city repaired than to have it dilapidated.
Moreover, there are some things in this city that Wallenberg could never even dream of.
Sewer systems, water supply systems, and even heating systems...
The civilization in the Land of the Dead is far more advanced than that in Lorunt. The comfort and experience of living there are far beyond what the dark and damp stone fortress of Wallenberg could ever offer.
That awful place would be so humid that even Lin Qi's bedroom would get moldy. It would be too hot to sleep in the summer and freezing to death in the winter.
Once this place is repaired, Lynch's own living comfort will improve significantly.
Of course, these are all secondary.
More importantly, some essential buildings can only be constructed in the main city in the future, such as floating ports, teleportation arrays, magic workshops, alchemy laboratories, and so on.
The construction of these buildings is closely related to the integrity of the main city, and some even require the main city to be 100% intact.
Stormwind is currently less than 30% complete, a huge gap.
But it doesn't matter, the skeletons have plenty of time and energy.
An inexhaustible supply of free labor.
Whether it's mining or repairing the city walls, it's all just a matter of one's own thoughts.
With just one command, the skeletons would walk over and dig, pickaxe by pick, transporting the remains back by truckload.
As long as they have one will, they will obediently move stones to repair the city.
They won't slack off, won't complain, and won't slack off halfway through.
"It's practically the perfect communist production tool!"
Lin Qi sighed.
"Da, da, da—"
Just then, footsteps came from behind.
It wasn't the "click-clack" sound of a skeleton walking; it was a dull, heavy sound, like the soles of boots stepping on stone slabs.
It has weight, texture, and a rhythm that only a living person can have.
Lynch turned around.
A figure was walking up the steps of the city gate tower.
Several elite skeleton warriors followed behind him, silently guarding him like loyal sentinels. But the figure walking at the very front was completely different from them.
He was a young man in his early twenties, with thick eyebrows, deep-set eyes, a straight nose, and a strong jawline.
He was very tall with broad shoulders and a straight back, and his gait had the crispness of a soldier.
He was wearing a set of dark gray plate armor, with the Stormwind city emblem engraved on his breastplate.
This young man was none other than Lynch's first recruited hero, and the original commander of Stormwind City—
Storm Knight, Diego.
This is the biggest difference between undead heroes and ordinary undead.
An ordinary skeleton, whatever it is, will always remain the same. Bones can be repaired, armor can be replaced, but it will always be just a skeleton.
Heroes, on the other hand, can return to their state before they were alive.
The Diego before us is just like that, possessing complete flesh and blood, even having breath, heartbeat, and body temperature.
Lynch could even control his speech, eating, and normal physiological metabolism.
Aside from lacking his own thoughts and consciousness, he was no different from a living person.
Lin Qi opened the system panel and glanced at Diego's attributes.
Name: Diego Sol.
Occupation: Hero.
Level: LV1.
Experience: 13/500.
Attributes: Strength 0.3, Agility 0.5, Constitution 0.2.
Star rating: One star.
Unlocked skills: None.
It looks...not very good?
That's true. His stats aren't even as good as that wood-chopping cook in Wallenberg's kitchen. Any random wandering skeleton could easily crush him.
But Lynch wasn't worried at all.
He wasn't looking at the current numbers, but at the line of text below the level column.
LV1.
That's right! Heroes can be leveled up!
This is also the most fundamental difference between them and ordinary undead.
Whatever the skeletons rule, that's what they'll always be.
Heroes, on the other hand, can grow.
And unlike Lynch, who needed to train himself, he directly defeated other undead, absorbed their remaining soul fire, and transformed it into his own power.
This is commonly known as leveling up by defeating monsters.
Once you level up, restoring to your peak or even surpassing it will not be a problem.
That was when Diego was the true Storm Rider.
"I need to level him up quickly; we'll need him to conquer the Krabul stage in the future..."
With these thoughts in mind, Lin Qi raised his hand and gently swiped in the air, opening a holographic map of the Bone Wasteland.
The map divides the entire Bone Wasteland into different areas, including dangerous areas where undead roam, safe areas, resource areas, and so on.
Lynch selected one of the several danger zones that was suitable for Diego's current level.
After the Bone Wasteland came under his control, the undead under his command could be remotely commanded throughout the entire Bone Wasteland.
There's no need to do leveling up yourself, which is time-consuming and laborious. Just issue a few commands and send a few elite skeletons to accompany him.
"Go ahead, go level up."
As soon as the command was given, Diego turned around and started walking down the city wall. The three chosen elite skeleton warriors followed silently, their footsteps thumping on the stone steps.
Lin Qi watched Diego's departing figure, silently filled with anticipation.
"Once the walls are repaired, the resource mines are mined, and Diego's level is upgraded, we can unlock the next area..."
"There..."
"But we have many top-tier magical equipment items that are considered early-game powerhouses..."
The mere thought of it filled Lin Qi with excitement...
……
Harvest Festival. Night.
Twin Rivers, Earl's Manor.
The manor gates were wide open, and two rows of servants in brand-new uniforms stood on either side, holding torches that illuminated the stone path leading to the main hall.
At the manor gate, carriages stopped one after another, with the skirts of noblewomen spreading out beside the carriage shafts. The air was filled with the mixed smells of perfume, mulled wine, and horse manure, creating a noisy and lively atmosphere.
A carriage emerged from the night, its emblem gleaming in the torchlight: a griffin with outstretched wings, a longsword clutched in its talons.
Wallenberg.
The carriage stopped at the gate. The driver reined in the horses, and they snorted, exhaling a cloud of white smoke. A servant quickly stepped forward and opened the carriage door.
"Click".
The sound of the car door opening was drowned out by the surrounding noise.
Lin Qi stepped out of the carriage.
He wore a dark gray tuxedo today, well-tailored with crisp shoulders and silver embroidery on the collar and cuffs, which shimmered faintly in the firelight.
The fabric was the finest wool, transported from the capital. A dark silver belt was tied around his waist, with a silver clasp bearing a griffin emblem, polished to a gleaming shine.
He stood beside the car, straightened his cuffs, then turned around and stretched a hand into the carriage.
A hand wearing a white glove reached out from the car door and gently placed in his palm.
Margaret got off the train.
She wore a deep blue velvet dress, the hem of which spread out from the carriage shaft like a blooming blue flower.
The silver thread embroidery on the collar and cuffs shimmered in the torchlight, and the waist was perfectly fitted, outlining a graceful curve.
Her hair was styled into an elegant bun, with a few wisps of hair falling beside her ears, making her neck appear long and fair.
But what's most eye-catching is the ruby necklace on her collarbone.
The pigeon-blood red main stone resembled a solidified flame in the firelight, while the surrounding diamond fragments refracted countless tiny points of light, pulsating slightly with her breath, like a flowing galaxy shimmering around her neck.
After Margaret regained her footing, she looked up at Lynch and a slight smile curved her lips.
"Thank you, my gentleman."
Lin Qi bowed slightly, a hint of a smile in his voice: "It's my honor."
Margaret chuckled softly, withdrew her hand from his palm, and naturally took his arm.
"Let's go," Lynch said. "The banquet should be starting soon."
"Wait a minute."
Margaret stopped, stood on tiptoe, and reached for his collar. Her fingers gently brushed against his tie, straightened it, and adjusted the position of the silver button on his collar.
"You are a baron," she chuckled in a low voice, "you need to have your servants announce your arrival first; we can't lose face."
Lynch shrugged: "What a hassle."

Inside the banquet hall.
Hundreds of candles on the crystal chandelier burned simultaneously, casting dappled orange light across the dome and illuminating the elegantly dressed guests in the hall.
The long table was laden with golden-brown roasted suckling pigs, piles of bread, steaming broth, and wine brought from across the river.
The musician played the organ in the corner, the skirts of the women swayed in the candlelight, and laughter and conversation mingled together.
In a corner of the hall, several young people were sitting together.
Elsa, wearing a light green dress, sat by the window, holding a glass of red wine that had barely been touched.
Her companions sat beside her, chatting about recent events in the territory.
Just then, a young woman in a pink dress squeezed through the crowd with an expression that looked like she had discovered a great secret.
She walked over quickly and said in a low voice, "Guess who I just saw?"
Several people looked up at her.
