On the second-floor ceiling, dozens of people dressed in hospital gowns were hanging densely.

Their eyes bulged out, their tongues lolled out, their bluish-purple faces were filled with fear, and their bodies were as stiff as swelled wooden boards.

Occasionally, a draft would blow through the corridor from both ends, causing the people hanging from the ceiling to sway gently in the wind, like wind chimes.

Dr. Xiao even felt that these hanged people were slowly turning around and looking at him!

He opened his mouth wide, but no sound came out of his throat.

When people are in extreme fear, they are unable to scream, and may even freeze for a moment.

A bone-chilling cold shot from the soles of his feet to the top of his head, bringing some clarity back to his muddled consciousness.

Only then did he realize that he was soaked in cold sweat, as if he had been drenched in water.

Just as he was terrified by the sight before him, Chen Zhuo suddenly stepped forward and stood firmly in front of him.

He remained calm and composed, seemingly unfazed by the scene before him.

"Back off, hide in a corner, watch your surroundings, don't worry about me!"

Although Dr. Xiao was somewhat confused, he had no doubts about what Chen Zhuo said.

Without any hesitation, he immediately retreated to the corner at the end of the corridor, pressing himself tightly against the wall to minimize his presence.

His heart was pounding, and his eyes were fixed on Chen Zhuo, afraid that he might lose this lifeline again if he wasn't careful.

The very next second after he stepped back, the doors to all the other wards on the second floor, except for the one next to him, swung open at the same time, just as they had on the first floor!

However, what rushed out of the ward was different from what was on the first floor.

Besides the nurses with lacerations, there were many other mental patients locked in wards receiving "treatment" at the hospital!

As a psychiatrist with many years of experience, Dr. Xiao immediately noticed the abnormalities in these patients.

Their mental state was far worse than that of the patients on the first floor; their eyes were vacant, their expressions were crazed, and they had completely lost their humanity.

The moment he saw these patients, he immediately thought of himself.

"If I hadn't chosen to follow Chen Zhuo at the time, but instead stayed in the ward on the first floor, followed the hospital's rules, and accepted their 'treatment'..."

Ultimately, they will end up like these people, completely losing their minds and becoming monsters, neither human nor ghost!

Thinking about this, Dr. Xiao felt a wave of fear, but at the same time he felt extremely fortunate.

I'm so glad I made the right choice back then, which prevented tragedy from happening to me.

Dr. Xiao was just an ordinary person, so he could only observe the changes in these people's mental state through their behavior.

But Chen Zhuo is no ordinary person; he can sense far more than Dr. Xiao.

For example, when these patients rush out of their wards.

He clearly sensed that the eerie aura emanating from these patients was much stronger than that from the patients on the first floor!

The Mirror Ghost also noticed this and immediately had a guess in its mind.

"Do patients admitted to different floors have different levels of assimilation?"

The higher the floor a patient is on, the more assimilated they are!

"These patients have been assimilated to a degree almost identical to the mentally ill person we encountered at Lin Wan's home!"

Chen Zhuo raised his left hand and snapped the neck of a nurse with a gash.

He then quickly turned around and knocked out the patient who had attacked him from behind with his white bone cane.

The Mirror Ghost's voice continued, following the previous deductions and further reasoning.

"The patients on the first floor were not assimilated to a very low degree and did not gain much strange power."

So even if there were no guards on the first floor, they had no way or courage to escape from the nurses.

But the patients on the second floor are different; they are more assimilated, thus gaining some strange powers.

As long as you avoid the guards on the second floor, you can easily leave this hospital!

Even the departure of these people was intentionally orchestrated by the Corrosion Hospital.

"Let them leave here and go out and create more incidents to spread this eerie contamination!"

Just as the Mirror Ghost was speaking, Chen Zhuo's figure moved through the crowd, and wherever he went, all the nurses died, leaving only a pile of unconscious patients.

Chen Zhuo did not kill these assimilated patients.

Their assimilation is not yet too deep; as long as the rust hospital is resolved, there is still a chance for them to return to normal.

So Chen Zhuo simply knocked them unconscious and tossed them aside on either side of the corridor. After dealing with everything, he would have the branch staff take care of them.

However, according to his deduction, the patients on the second floor could still be saved.

However, patients on the third floor and above have become too deeply assimilated and may not have a chance to recover.

Dr. Xiao, who was hiding in the corner of the second-floor corridor, finally breathed a heavy sigh of relief after seeing that Chen Zhuo had resolved the crisis in front of him.

With his legs feeling weak, he leaned against the wall and slowly walked out from the corner, preparing to return to Chen Zhuo's side.

But he had only taken two steps when his gaze fell on the top of Chen Zhuo's head.

Something seemed to be slowly descending towards Chen Zhuo from the hanging corpse.

When he saw what it looked like, the hairs on his body stood on end!

It was a rough hemp rope!

It is now falling silently and slowly.

The rope loop has been opened and looks to fit Chen Zhuo's head perfectly!

Just as the rope was about to be put over Chen Zhuo's head, Dr. Xiao gasped and prepared to warn Chen Zhuo to be careful.

But just as he uttered a single syllable, his throat tightened, and intense pain, suffocation, and weightlessness swept over his entire body at the same moment.

Dr. Xiao was horrified to discover that a cold hemp rope had been tied around his neck without his knowledge!

The rope suddenly tightened upwards, instantly lifting him off the ground.

His feet were kicking wildly in the air, and his hands were gripping the rope around his neck tightly, trying to tear it off.

But the rope tightened more and more, and his face turned blue and purple. He could only manage a weak hoarse sound from his throat, no matter how hard he tried.

He desperately reached out to Chen Zhuo, wanting to beg for help, but his consciousness was rapidly fading.

"Am I going to die here like this? I don't want to die! I don't want to die! Chen Zhuo, save me!"

Dr. Xiao struggled desperately, but the rope around her neck did not loosen at all.

His strength waned, and his hands, which had been pulling on the rope, finally fell limply to his sides.

Dr. Xiao closed his eyes in despair, accepting his impending death.

He felt that facing death was an extremely long process.

However, from the time he was strangled by the hemp rope until now, it has only been a blink of an eye.

Just as he was being hoisted up, Chen Zhuo suddenly turned around and shouted in a low voice.

"Watch your head!"

"Mirror Ghost!"

Just before Chen Zhuo spoke, a clear and melodious female voice rang out first.

The moment the words left his mouth, the glass in the corridor behind Dr. Xiao shattered with a deafening roar.

Sharp shards of glass, like bullets fired from a gun, shot towards the rope above Chen Zhuo and his companion's heads with a series of whooshing sounds.

puff!puff!

After a few soft sounds, the two ropes hanging from the ceiling were cut cleanly by the shards of glass!

Dr. Xiao fell heavily to the ground, clutching his neck with one hand and greedily inhaling the fresh air.

As the feeling of suffocation subsided, his consciousness gradually returned.

When he stood up from the ground, he saw Chen Zhuo walking towards a ward.

The warning just now came from inside this ward.
