America's Greatest Villain: I Defeat Magic with Magic

Chapter 101 Being a Lackey Isn't Easy

Although Adrian simply left, Chen Yuan sensed from the other man's eyes that this matter was unlikely to end well.

He wasn't one to passively accept challenges; rather than waiting for Adrian to go back and get reinforcements to cause trouble, he'd rather stir things up!

Coincidentally, Pete, the sycophant who had returned, offended Chen Yuan again, and another criminal act was added to the information panel above his head.

Moreover, this vulnerability is far more serious than chilling red wine in a laboratory centrifuge!

Faced with Chen Yuan's questioning, Pete retorted defiantly, "What contraband? You need to have solid evidence to back up your claim!"

His confidence stemmed from the fact that he had repeatedly confirmed that the surveillance cameras were off when he was drinking with his colleagues in the lab last night.

Even if this is a violation, at most it will only result in a warning, which is not a big deal.

However, Chen Yuan smiled slightly and said, "What I'm talking about is not as simple as taking a bottle of red wine chilled in a low-temperature centrifuge."

As he spoke, he turned and walked toward an experimental device in the corner of the laboratory.

It was a constant-temperature incubator covered in dust, and it looked like it hadn't been used for a long time.

However, the power light remained on, and a sign on the door read, "Experiment in progress, do not open."

The seal seemed to be preserving something for a long time.

Upon seeing this, Pete's expression instantly changed.

He stepped forward, trying to stop Chen Yuan's actions.

However, Chen Yuan had already reached the constant temperature incubator. While putting on a pair of nitrile gloves, he sneered, "You just said that using fried chicken in the lab for a fat blocking control experiment was an insult to the lab?"

As he spoke, he placed the incubator on its metal handle, stared at Pete who was striding towards him, and shouted, "So, who is so creative as to use this $20 high-precision cell incubator to cultivate 'hallucinogenic poisonous mushrooms' specifically designed to harm alumni?"

Upon hearing this, Pete's face instantly drained of all color, as if he had been struck by lightning!

"No, don't touch that! That's Dr. Berg's top-secret cell sample!"

He screamed and lunged at Chen Yuan, trying to stop him.

However, Chen Yuan simply raised his hand, and with a force of 1.5, he pushed the not-so-strong Pete several meters away.

Then a soft "click" was heard as Chen Yuan opened the sealed door of the constant temperature incubator with his other hand.

He then quickly pulled out a petri dish covered with a black plastic bag from a hidden compartment at the bottom of the box. Chen Yuan looked at the plastic bag with a disgusted expression, but still reached out and slowly peeled it off!

As several students around exclaimed in surprise, what came into everyone's view was a cluster of strangely colored mushrooms!

These mushrooms are dark brown and emit a pungent musty smell as soon as they are exposed to air.

A girl who was some distance away inhaled a small amount of the odor and immediately clutched her chest and began to gag.

Those present were all experts in biology, so they naturally recognized the origin of this mushroom at a glance.

Psilocybe nippon, also known as the hallucinogenic mushroom!

Within American college circles, it is primarily used to make classic American herbal remedies.

Pete, who had collapsed to the ground, was deathly pale and on the verge of tears.

After all, in American colleges and universities, drinking alcohol is at most a violation of discipline.

Cultivating such a thing in a laboratory is a serious crime that would allow the DEA to break in!

"This—this isn't mine!"

Pete retorted, "That's right, someone must have hidden it in the incubator."

With that, he turned and pointed at Arthur, roaring, "He spends all his time in this lab, it must be him!"

However, Chen Yuan couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Possessing and cultivating hallucinogenic mushrooms is a serious federal crime. To find out whose these things are, we only need to investigate the fingerprints on the plastic bags and culture dishes; no one can deny it!"

Then, he added a message he saw on the system panel: "Alternatively, you need to submit the chat logs showing your plan to sell this batch of goods to your classmates at a high price to DEA as well."

"Is that right?"

A few minutes later, a campus police officer who had been informed of the incident arrived at the scene first.

What was initially thought to be a simple student dispute turned into a serious situation when the campus police saw the large number of hallucinogenic mushrooms and immediately called for backup.

Thirty minutes later, several DEA agents stormed into the B-side laboratory.

The practice of hoarding American herbs is not uncommon within American University.

Even some basic herbal remedies are legal in California, and the school turns a blind eye to it.

However, the unauthorized large-scale artificial cultivation and resale of hallucinogenic mushrooms as herbal ingredients is an absolute serious crime under any law.

Faced with professional questioning from DEA agents and fingerprint evidence, Pete's psychological defenses quickly crumbled.

He then confessed without hesitation, explaining in detail how he brought mushroom spawn into the school and then illegally cultivated it using an unused constant-temperature incubator.

He will naturally face severe punishment under federal law.

[Ding! Detected that the host used despicable means to send a promising college student to prison. Villain points reward: 20.]

By the time Chen Yuan and the students present finished taking their statements, it was already noon.

He was about to go get something to eat when his phone suddenly received a new message: "I heard you've caused another big mess?"

Chen Yuan felt somewhat wronged, so he replied, "I was just doing my duty as a law-abiding citizen."

"That lab has been involved in a criminal case and needs to be shut down for a while to facilitate evidence collection. But for you, it's actually a good thing."

This time, Vivian didn't continue to play the riddle, but explained: "This morning, Dr. Berg submitted an urgent application to the school, formally requesting the revocation of Arthur's right to use the laboratory, on the grounds that he has been using it for a long time without producing anything."

Chen Yuan recalled the look in Adrian's eyes when he left. He hadn't expected the other party to act so quickly. Not long after leaving, he had persuaded Dr. Berg to personally intervene and use his power to demand the return of the laboratory.

This was clearly intended to completely cut off any avenue for Arthur to continue his research on "high-temperature curing enzymes".

"The School of Life Sciences was originally planning to agree to Dr. Berg's request, but we didn't expect the mess you made to even affect the DEA."

It's alarmed.

"The university has now established a special task force to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter of students in the School of Life Sciences possessing prohibited items. Before the police lift the lockdown, no one may change the ownership of the laboratory."

"Peter was one of Dr. Berg's students, so he may also be held accountable for this scandal."

"In short, you've benefited from this misfortune. Dr. Berg is in trouble himself now, but once the DEA's investigation is complete, you can continue using that lab."

Vivian's news brought Chen Yuan a slight sense of relief.

But after this incident, he has probably completely offended Dr. Berg, and his days in the School of Life Sciences will likely not be easy from now on!
