Chapter 15 Surprise
The deep sea, hundreds of meters below.
There was no sunlight, no sound, only endless darkness and icy water pressure.
An area where humans could never survive, but a paradise for deep-sea divers.
On the seabed, dozens of deep-sea divers are busy using the water flow to cut through the rocks and dig out rectangular pits.
They are burying their fallen comrades.
Even though their physical bodies have changed, they are still transformed from humans, and their minds still retain traces of human thought.
People should be buried when they die, especially when these are their comrades-in-arms.
After the burial was completed, all the Deep Ones spontaneously gathered around these makeshift graves and bowed their heads.
They were observing a moment of silence.
There were no tears, no heart-wrenching wails. Having fought on the battlefield and wandered the streets waiting to die, they were already used to death.
For them, death is no longer something unacceptable; the current moment of silence is simply out of respect for their companions.
Marcus stood at the front of the group, remained silent for a minute, then turned and swam toward a nearby underwater cliff.
Kriel sat on the cliff edge, his eyes closed, as if feeling the pulse of the deep sea.
Marcus swam up to Kriel and bowed slightly: "Boss, it's all cleaned up. We lost twenty-four brothers this time."
Kriel slowly opened his eyes, his gaze devoid of any emotion. He didn't speak, but simply nodded.
Marcus raised his head and looked at Creel, his eyes flashing with fanaticism and bloodlust. The thrill of revenge against this country was simply too addictive: "Boss, what should we do next? The brothers are waiting for your orders."
The surrounding Deep Ones also turned their heads, their eerie gazes converging on Creel as they awaited the king's decree.
Kriel remained silent. He stood up from the cliff, his massive body creating a violent surge of water, and walked up to Marcus.
A huge shadow completely enveloped Marcus.
Before Marcus could react, Kriel suddenly stretched out his large, claw-covered hand and grabbed Marcus's head.
"Boss?" Marcus was taken aback.
The next second, an extremely large and cold energy surged wildly into Marcus's body through Kriel's palm!
"Ugh!!!"
Marcus let out a painful growl, and his body began to convulse violently.
Amidst the astonished gazes of the surrounding deep-sea creatures, Marcus's body began to change. His muscles became more muscular, his scales darkened, and his dorsal fin became sharper.
He looks just like Creel before he grew up!
Kree released his grip.
Marcus looked down at his hands, feeling the surging power within him that was almost overflowing, his pupils filled with shock.
He could feel the water around him becoming incredibly docile, almost effortlessly controlled, allowing him to manipulate it at will.
This feeling is completely different from before. If before he manipulated the water flow as if he was pushing a heavy object with force, now he only needs to have a thought, and the water will move naturally!
Kriel didn't stop. He turned around, his gaze sweeping over the remaining Deep Ones, and pointed to the other two Murlocs who had performed best in the previous battle.
"Theodore, Rison, come here."
The two mermen whose names were called were startled and immediately stepped out from the crowd, their faces filled with joy!
Kriel followed the same method, injecting energy into their bodies, and soon, two more even more powerful deep-sea diver appeared in the deep sea.
The surrounding Deep Ones all stared at Kriel with burning eyes, the meaning in their gazes was self-evident: they also wanted this enhancement!
But Kerr stopped.
It's not that he doesn't want to continue, but rather that his current abilities are only sufficient to maintain three of these entities simultaneously.
Kriel surveyed Marcus, Jack, and Leo, his deep voice resonating in the minds of all the Deep Ones:
"From now on, the three of you will also have the ability to transform humans into your own kind."
Marcus and his two companions suddenly looked up, their eyes filled with shock.
Transform your own kind!
This means they have transcended once again!
Kriel turned around and looked toward the distant land, a cold mockery flashing in his eyes.
"Go, develop our people."
He paused for a moment.
"Let's give this country a big surprise."
......
Columbia District.
This place has been completely reduced to ruins.
The once bustling streets are now a scene of devastation, with piles of collapsed building ruins and charred traces of fire covering every corner, and the air filled with the acrid smell of gunpowder.
The enormous chasm that stretched from the center of the neighborhood all the way to the coastline was a shocking sight.
A large number of cleanup workers are busy at the scene.
"Hurry up! Everyone, hurry up! The orders are to clear the main road before dark!"
A middle-aged white man wearing a yellow hard hat was standing on an abandoned armored vehicle, shouting through a megaphone.
He is Douglas, the leader of the cleanup team for this area.
He's in a terrible mood right now. He was dragged out of bed in the middle of the night and thrown into this damned ruin.
He was already annoyed, but seeing the group of reporters who somehow slipped in from outside the cordon made him even more annoyed.
"Sir! Is this really a terrorist attack?"
"Witnesses claim to have seen a huge monster last night. Is the military hiding something?"
Are the videos of supernatural abilities circulating online real?
"Sir, please answer this..."
Douglas shoved the microphone aside, his face full of impatience: "Get out! Get out of here, all of you!"
"I'm just a labor foreman! What's the point of asking me? Hurry up and get these good-for-nothings out of here!"
Several soldiers rushed over upon hearing the news and dragged the reporters away from the cleanup site.
Douglas spat and left, cursing, wanting to go to the bathroom.
"Captain, what is this?"
A young team member's voice came from not far behind him, with a strange tone.
Douglas frowned, turned around and walked over.
The young team member squatted beside a dilapidated wall foundation, pointing to a pool of dark green liquid on the ground.
"What is this?" Douglas crouched down and examined it closely.
The team member swallowed hard, his voice trembling slightly. "Captain, this...this can't be related to those monsters they're talking about online, can it?"
Douglas's heart skipped a beat.
He wasn't stupid. The commotion last night was so huge; even a fool would know it wasn't some ordinary terrorist attack, especially considering the various urban legends circulating recently...
"What nonsense are you talking about! Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask! Collect all this information, put it in sealed containers, and submit it to the higher-ups later. After that, it's none of our business, understand?"
Douglas slammed his hand on the player's helmet and hissed in a low voice.
The team member shrank back after being hit, nodding repeatedly: "Okay, okay, Captain."
The team member turned around to get the collection tools.
Douglas stood rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on the pool of dark green liquid, his heart pounding.
He glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention.
He quickly pulled a small, clear glass bottle containing painkillers from his pocket, poured out the pills, and then filled the bottle with the liquid.
He then tightened the cap, put the glass bottle back in his inner pocket, stood up, calmly brushed the dust off his knees, and walked towards the next cleaning area without looking back.
