Chapter 23 The Missing Tina
"A Celestial Dragons' school trip?"
Zefa searched his mind for a while and managed to recall the somewhat unfamiliar word.
He remembered that decades ago, the Celestial Dragons seemed to have such a tradition: every three years, they would send the young people of the various families away from the Holy Land to travel somewhere, ostensibly to "cultivate young talents." But in Zephyr's view, it was just an excuse to go sightseeing.
Zephyr has consistently refused to carry out missions to protect the Celestial Dragons, and naturally knows little about the so-called school trip.
Many years ago, the school trip seemed to have gone wrong. For some reason, those Celestial Dragons were targeted by Rocks, which led to an epic war.
At the time, Vice Admiral Zephyr was on a mission elsewhere and was unaware of the specific details. He only knew that Garp was hailed as a "naval hero" because of this incident, but when he asked the guy about the situation at the time, the guy sullenly told him not to mention it.
This incident seemed to have greatly embarrassed the Celestial Dragons. The World Government even ordered the Navy to erase all information about the Rocks Pirates, and the school trip was canceled for many years. Zephyr had almost forgotten about it.
He casually said to the Den Den Mushi:
"Anyway, those world nobles are just out having fun, and nobody dares to mess with them. The CP0 lackeys are enough, right?"
Zephyr was extremely displeased. The world was full of pirates, the Navy was desperately short-handed, and yet they were even eyeing his disciple.
"Forget about Sith; he needs more time to train. You should find someone else!"
He was about to hang up when Zhan Guo quickly interrupted him:
"Zeffa, listen to me first!"
"The school trips have been interrupted for many years, but recently the various Celestial Dragon families need to train new elites, and they are worried about safety issues, so they came to us."
"Mary Geoise said that if the navy does a good job, the crime of the theft of the East China Sea gold can be wiped clean, and the navy's funding next year could even be increased several times over."
Sengoku's five fingers were clenched so tightly that he could barely breathe from squeezing the Den Den Mushi in his hand.
"There's no room for negotiation on this matter. The Five Elders and Fleet Admiral Kuuga have both called me!"
He practically roared these words, as if he were under immense pressure.
Sith stood silently to the side, listening intently, and became certain of one thing—
The teacher was unaware of the truth about the so-called "study trip".
This is normal; Zefa is not the only one who has been scammed.
Back when the truth about God Valley was revealed, the Sith were cursing Garp every day. That old man, who seemed arrogant on the surface, actually went to God Valley to help the Celestial Dragons fight Roger. He was utterly despicable.
As it turned out, he later learned that the Celestial Dragons kept their massacre tournaments a secret from the Navy. For example, at God Valley, the Navy only kept watch around the island, and only the Celestial Dragons and CP0 agents actually went ashore.
The truly hypocritical one was the then-Marine Admiral Kongo. That old bastard tricked Garp, only saying that Rocks and Roger had gone to attack the Celestial Dragons in God Valley, without mentioning the massacre tournament at all. When Garp arrived there, he realized he had been fooled and had no choice but to join forces with Roger to kill Rocks, who was being controlled by the Black Dragon.
As for the Marines on guard duty on the perimeter, by the time they went ashore to provide support, God Valley was already in complete chaos. Most of them didn't know what the Celestial Dragons' school trip had been about, and only a very few people, such as Garp, Sengoku, and Roger, knew the whole story.
Later, in order to cover up the truth, the World Government erased all information about God Valley and Rocks. Garp was called a "Marine Hero," and you can imagine how frustrated he felt. He refused to be promoted to Admiral.
However, in order to protect the "marine soldiers under the cliff," Garp reluctantly accepted it, while Sengoku wanted to climb to a higher position to prevent more similar incidents from happening. The two of them have been keeping this secret.
They were a pair of star-crossed lovers.
To Sith's surprise, the school trip, which had been suspended for many years, was about to be reinstated.
"Is it because the Knights of God are training new recruits?"
Sith speculated.
Last year, Shanks should have returned to the Holy Land, pretending to obey Im and becoming a Servant of God.
But his older brother, Figarando Shamrock, was a full member of the Knights of God.
Judging from the timeline, this school trip might just be the time when the new generation of the Knights of God recruits new members and determines the leader!
Sengoku continued to persuade Zefa:
"I understand you. Do you think I want to serve those Celestial Dragons? But you also know that the situation at sea is not optimistic right now. We failed to protect the Heavenly Gold of the East China Sea, and we have to give an explanation."
"The Five Elders also told me that this school trip should be the last one, and there won't be any more."
He paused for a moment, and finally said:
"Just a heads up, this mission is highly coveted. The Navy will simply need to wait on the perimeter until the Celestial Dragons' journey ends, but the officer leading the team will be rewarded handsomely!"
Hearing his old friend say this, Zefa hesitated.
Zhan Guo was right. Such a simple yet lucrative mission was indeed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young officers.
He said to Sith:
"Kid, it's your decision!"
Zephyr despises the Celestial Dragons, but he won't interfere if the Sith want to improve.
Sith pondered for a moment, then looked at the Den Den Mushi and asked:
"Marshal Sengoku, is this mission about to begin?"
Sengoku was taken aback, then replied:
"No, the Celestial Dragons haven't decided on their travel destination yet either. I think we'll have to wait at least a year."
Sith laughed:
"Then there's no rush. Marshal Sengoku, could you give me some time to consider?"
He had no desire to be a dog of the Celestial Dragons, nor did he have any desire to escort those beasts in their slaughter.
But under the guise of escorting them, they could rob them outright and turn these bastards into prey.
This desire not only exists, but it is also very strong!
He knew how generous the prizes were for the Celestial Dragons' massacre contest, even far exceeding the Heavenly Gold. Sith couldn't help but be tempted.
Besides, since this school trip is unavoidable, why not use his fake identity to have some fun?
For example, could we give the Revolutionary Army a back door so they can free the slaves and help Dragon make up for his regrets in God Valley?
That would be really interesting!
Sengoku was delighted to hear that Sith seemed interested in participating.
"No problem, you can think about it first. I haven't decided on the final candidate yet either."
He had heard about Sith's performance in the elite class test and thought highly of him. Moreover, if he could send Zefa's disciple to guard him, the mission would be basically secured, and if anything unexpected happened, Zefa could lend a hand.
After chatting with Zefa for a few more minutes, Sengoku let out a long sigh after hanging up the phone, but there was no joy on his face.
He knew the truth, but he had no choice.
In the eyes of the world, he was a high-ranking naval admiral, but in front of those "gods," he was probably no different from a lowly marine, just a tool.
If he insists on refusing to assist with the school trip, the Five Elders can simply replace him with someone more obedient.
With this old guy around, at least the Five Elders can choose a non-member country with a smaller population to hold the competition, but it's not certain if it's someone else.
"I'm sorry, Zephyr, Sith, I told a terrible lie."
He was filled with guilt towards the two of them.
"Fortunately, the Celestial Dragons won't let us get too involved. Sith will just need to stay on the periphery and won't see the truth, nor will he let his sense of justice be clouded."
Zhan Guo muttered to himself, trying to convince himself.
He suddenly envied Garp, who stood at the bottom of the cliff protecting the lower-ranking marines. It was much more comfortable than being this lousy admiral who did mending and patching!
the other side.
Zephyr patted Sith on the shoulder and nodded, saying:
"Since you're willing, then prepare well!"
His student is destined to become an admiral, and he'll inevitably have to deal with the Celestial Dragons in the future, so it's good for him to get used to it beforehand.
Sith smiled confidently:
"Don't worry, teacher, I won't embarrass you."
Not only will you not lose face, but you'll also be pleasantly surprised!
a few days later.
After Sith completed the first phase of training, Zephyr recommended him to become a colonel in the hunting force and assigned him a warship.
This means he can now freely... fight against villains!
However, according to naval regulations, Sith must first carry out patrol missions in the four seas and accumulate a certain number of battle achievements before they are qualified to be transferred to the Grand Line, which is similar to the branch base chief.
He hadn't received any missions yet, so he returned to Cocoyasi Village to rest and recuperate.
But he soon regretted making that decision.
"If you eat one of three oranges, how many are left? How could you get such a simple question wrong?!"
Sith sat at his desk, questioning Nami with exasperation.
Nami's answer was clearly marked with a "0".
Nami blinked and weakly explained:
"If I eat one of the three oranges, I definitely can't resist eating the other two. Why isn't the answer 0?"
Sith collapsed instantly.
After tutoring this little kid for half a day, he lost count of how many times he had turned red in the face.
He had hoped that Nami could learn as soon as possible, become an excellent navigator, and then help him reach the Sky Island.
He had been eyeing the gold there for a long time, but unfortunately, the ways to get to the sky island were all very dangerous, and few people had succeeded so far. It required a very skilled navigator to oversee the process.
Judging from the current progress, it will probably take quite some time before Nami becomes a truly capable navigator.
"Never mind, go play by yourself!"
Sith said irritably.
"Yay!"
Nami cheered and ran out.
She couldn't wait to stick to her brother's side all the time, except... when he was helping her with her homework.
Sith took a big bite of an orange, which calmed him down a bit.
This trip back to Cocoyasi Village wasn't solely due to his sister's anger. On the way there, he conveniently dealt with a group of pirates eyeing the village, gathered 300 million Berries, and then upgraded his [Professional Assassin] skill to LV3.
[Professional Assassin LV3: The system automatically grants 3 Berries for each enemy killed; upgrading requires 5 million Berries]
Sith was so moved he almost cried; he had finally drawn a Hextech that could make him money.
While it's not as fast as runes like [Red Envelope] and [Arrogance] that directly generate gold coins, it's still pretty good.
It's a pity this world doesn't have nuclear bombs, otherwise he would definitely get one and drop it on Mary Geoise, reaping the rewards while letting the Celestial Dragons experience the passion of a little boy.
After resting at home for a few days and getting annoyed by Nami's homework dozens of times, Sith suddenly received a call from headquarters.
"Uriel Sith, Colonel Tina has gone missing in the Western Sea. You are the closest to her; please go investigate immediately!"
