A priest in North America, what the hell is the Demon Gate system?
Chapter 50 Priests, Lies, and Sophistry
"Waaaah... I'm not debating anymore..."
Leon grabbed Fennes's hair like a sack of potatoes, tears streaming down his face, his hands clenched tightly to his chest.
"Do we still want to spread the truth?" Li Ang asked calmly.
Fennes shook his head frantically, his silver hair flying everywhere.
"Should we rebuild the legion?"
The girl continued to shake her head, tears streaming down her face.
Li Ang crouched down, looking her straight in the eye: "Then, I'll give you ten seconds to undo the corruption on that child."
"If you lift the ban, will you let me go...?"
Fennes' tears were still flowing, as if he was trying to fight for something.
"Crying counts as time too, 5, 4, 3..."
Fennes hurriedly pointed her trembling hand at Allen, and a wisp of pale silver light floated from her fingertip, drawing a streak in the air before disappearing into Allen's brow.
Allen's body shuddered, and his bright red eyes faded at a visible speed, turning back to their original blue-gray.
He blinked, and the fervent devotion in his eyes vanished, replaced by a familiar, slightly timid bewilderment.
"I...I just...I think I said a lot of strange things?" Allen touched his head, looking confused.
Mark slapped him on the back of the head: "You didn't just say weird things!"
"Ouch! That hurts! Eek—Jennifer, help me!"
Ignoring the farce over there, Li Ang continued to stare at Fernéus: "You just said that you were pulled in by the rift in the abyss."
"Yes...yes...I don't know who...has been holding spatial rituals in the abyss recently, causing numerous cracks to appear within it..."
"Where is the crack?"
"It closed when I arrived..."
Li Ang stood up, clapped his hands, and the image of Jesus slowly dissipated behind him, turning into specks of white light that entered his body.
The oppressive atmosphere in the cave then disappeared.
Fennes let out a long breath and collapsed, but he still clutched his lower abdomen with a pained expression.
Li Ang turned around, preparing to deal with the following matters, such as getting the students and Jennifer out, how to deal with the little goldfish, and so on...
"Please wait a moment."
A soft female voice suddenly rang out; it was Jennifer.
Li Ang turned his head, and the texture on Jennifer's surface flowed slowly in the dim light, as if it had come to life.
"This demon is hiding something." Jennifer's voice was calm, but the content of her words made Fenneus, who had just relaxed, tense up again.
Fennes's shoulders jerked violently.
She raised her head, her blood-red eyes wide, her voice filled with grievance and anger:
"You're talking nonsense! I've said everything I needed to say! I've already rid myself of corruption! What more do you want!"
"A lie." Jennifer's voice remained calm, like the surface of a sleeping lake, undisturbed.
"I am the spirit of the sunken lake. The water is my eyes and my ears. I can sense any unusual fluctuations."
"But I can clearly sense an aura about you that doesn't belong to you."
Li Ang frowned slightly and looked at Fernéus.
Furneus's expression froze instantly, but he continued to argue:
"What aura? I don't know what you're talking about. I have offered the messenger complete honesty..."
"You have a divine aura about you," Jennifer interrupted her mercilessly.
The cave fell silent.
Mark and his two brothers exchanged bewildered glances. Allen peeked out from beside them and muttered, "Holy?"
Leon turned back towards Fennes.
He walked over, squatted down, and reached out to pinch the girl's face. With his physique level 3, he pinched her delicate face until it hurt, forcing her to look up at him.
"I'd heard long ago that demons aren't honest, and it seems those rumors are true."
"I...I don't know..." Furneus's voice began to tremble, and tears welled up in his eyes again.
"I really don't know anything about divine aura... I'm just a poor soul who got dragged into this, I..."
"Sophistry," Jennifer's voice rang out again.
"That aura was on her; I sensed it the moment she appeared in the sinking lake. At first, that aura was separate from her physical form, like soil and stone, but soon... they merged into one."
Upon hearing this, Fennes' expression suddenly changed.
The pitiful look on her face just a moment ago suddenly turned cold. The fear and pleading in her eyes vanished, replaced by a cold and mocking expression.
Fennes twitched the corner of his mouth, revealing an expression of complete indifference.
"So what if we know?" Fernéus's voice returned to its arrogant, condescending tone.
"That thing is indeed with me, but I've locked it away in the deepest part of my soul."
She blinked slightly, and although her face was still being pinched by Li Ang, her aura had changed.
"Even if the Son of Jehovah were to utterly destroy me now, you still wouldn't be able to get it," Fenneus sneered.
"Because once my body dies, my soul will immediately return to the abyss—that thing will go back with my soul, and you will get nothing!"
Li Ang released his grip on her face.
He stood up, looking down at the silver-haired girl sitting on the ground. Fernéth returned his gaze, his red eyes filled with provocation and a hint of smugness.
"Are you done talking?" Li Ang asked.
"Of course~ So, let me go, or kill me, it's your choice. But no matter which you choose, you won't get that thing." Fernéus raised the corners of his mouth.
"However, if you are willing to find enough apprentices for me, I may consider giving you a place in the future apocalypse."
Li Ang nodded without speaking, but raised his left hand and a thought crossed his mind.
A small flagpole appeared in his hand, the flag of the Stars and Stripes reflecting a faint glow in the blue light of the cave.
The patterns on the flagpole's surface undulated slowly like witchcraft incantations, and the eagle's eyes on the flagpole head glowed faintly with a red light.
Furneus's arrogant expression froze instantly.
"This is...?" For the first time, there was uncertainty in her voice.
"Shirley," Li Ang called out directly, ignoring her question.
With a gentle shake of the flag, a pale blue figure emerged from it.
Sherry floated in mid-air, yawned, and rubbed her eyes, looking like she had just woken up.
"What now..." Sherry's voice was languid, but she was stunned when she saw the scene in front of her.
She looked at Leon, then at Fernéus sitting on the ground, then at the four high school students huddled behind the rock and the glowing stone.
"Where...where am I?"
Shirley blinked, her tone slightly playful: "Are you going to seduce young girls again?"
"Stop talking nonsense and do me a favor." Li Ang pointed at Fenneus.
"Go, give her a job."
