Hunter x Hunter: The Strongest Zoldyck

Chapter 58 On the Eve of the Decisive Battle

"hehe......"

Saen smiled but didn't say anything; it was just a bunch of kids playing house.

Did they think they could defeat Jumongaard by banding together?

That's far too simplistic. That's a monster that the Seven Seas Alliance hasn't been able to solve for hundreds of years.

A group of children?

Before the self-deprecating smile on his lips had faded, Saen slowly turned around, walked to a corner on the edge of the second deck, sat down, rested his left hand on his knee, and let his right hand hang in the air, closing his eyes to rest.

"What does he mean by that?"

The red-haired boy, Fica, glanced at the departing Saen with a puzzled look.

"What do you mean? Can't you see it?"

A cold glint flashed in Roy's eyes, and he said calmly and indifferently:

"He simply looks down on us..."

Fica paused for a moment, his lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but he didn't say anything.

He subconsciously looked down at his right hand.

The illusory twenty-four-quarter disc in his palm had completely disappeared, leaving only a pale, bloodless skin that looked like it had been soaked in water.

Click...!

Fica clenched his fist, then relaxed it.

There was no light in the palm, no clock face, nothing at all.

"Why..." Fica's tone rose slightly.

"Why does he look down on us? Boss, you just saved him..."

"For no reason other than that he lived several decades longer than us."

Roy's calm voice came through, interrupting Fica.

"Just because he's experienced more brutal battles than we've eaten salt, just because he's a Nen user whose strength far surpasses ours..."

Turning around, Roy no longer looked at Saen, no longer looked at Fica, and no longer looked at the half-open door.

He slowly walked to the ship's side, braced his hands on the iron railing, and gazed silently into the boundless darkness in the distance with his silver-gray pupils.

The sea was still as black as ever, and the sky as deep as ever.

The sea breeze blew in his face, carrying a salty and fishy smell that filled his nostrils.

With a barely perceptible furrow of his brow, Roy murmured to himself.

"But he's right."

His voice was very soft, so soft that it sounded like he was saying goodbye to someone.

"How could a group of children possibly be a match for this monster from the edge of the dark continent?"

Fica's pupils contracted slightly.

"Boss..."

"You think you can take down Jumongaard by banding together?"

Roy didn't turn around; his voice remained flat and indifferent, as if he were reading a report.

"You think you and I combined can beat that thing? What do you think was the reason Saen left?"

Fica's lips moved, but no sound came out.

"It's not that he doesn't want to resist..." Roy said.

"He knows...we can't win by teaming up with us..."

"So... he thinks it's more rational and has a higher chance of survival than to die together with us. He wants us to be cannon fodder, weaken Jumongard's strength first, and then take advantage of the situation to attack.

Loosening his grip, Roy took a step back and turned around.

Silver-gray pupils reflected Fica's pale, confused face, the dried scabs embedded in his skin, and his eyes that were trying to understand.

"Because that's... a monster from the edge of the Dark Continent."

Roy's voice was very soft, so soft that it sounded like he was talking to himself.

"What makes you think we're the only ones who can solve it? Your Nen that can only be used once? My hands that have just been rebuilt? Or perhaps Saen's severed left arm and Bolt's needle stuck in the rubble?"

He paused, and the corners of his mouth curved slightly... not a smile, but an expression that said, "Do you understand?"

"So our goal is not to get rid of Jumongad, but to figure out how to survive in his hands and escape from him."

After saying that, before Fika could say anything more, Roy pulled him down to sit and began to discuss the next steps of the plan.

Meanwhile, in a corner of the deck, Sarn, with his eyes closed, leaned against the bulkhead, trying his best to recover his strength and spirit. He didn't care about Roy and Fica's next actions and plans.

He only wanted to gather the strength to resist before the final moment arrived, even if he couldn't harm Yumongard in the end, he wanted to at least fight for a chance to survive.

He doesn't want to die yet....

His right hand, gripping the dagger, trembled slightly. As he focused his mind and gathered his strength to recover, he waited silently.

Waiting for the voice from behind that door, waiting for Eumongard to reappear, waiting for that final moment...

A moment later, he opened his eyes, his brown pupils shimmering in the moonlight as he gazed at the open hatch on the second floor.

Wait until you can see what's behind the door.

The corners of his mouth curved slightly... not in a smile, but in a self-deprecating sarcasm.

"Bolt..."

Saen murmured softly, his eyes filled with overwhelming sorrow and guilt.

"Oh...so you really care about him, don't you?"

A slightly flippant voice came from behind the hatch.

Roy looked in the direction of the voice and saw a figure with black hair and black eyes, a slender build, and a distinct poetic air, leading a mother and daughter, one big and one small, out.

The mother looked to be in her early thirties, with blonde hair, blue eyes, a plump figure, and delicate features; the girl looked to be no more than ten years old, petite and pretty, exquisite and delicate, looking like a porcelain doll.

"My lord... could you... please let us go?"

As soon as the plump young woman stepped out of the cabin, she timidly pleaded with the figure in front of her, while the little girl beside her looked at him with a similarly pleading expression.

"put?"

The figure in front of the mother and daughter slowly turned her head, a warm smile appearing on her gentle face:

"Of course..."

"You should leave now!"

"Really?!"

Upon hearing this, the plump woman exclaimed with delight.

"certainly...."

The figure answered with certainty.

"Come on! Layla! Let's go together, Mom."

Having received an affirmative answer, the woman didn't hesitate for a moment before pulling her daughter along and preparing to head back.

Just as she took her daughter Leila's soft, boneless hand and took a few steps forward...

hiss! ! !

A black tongue pierced through the mother and daughter... and in less than a second, the two deflated like punctured balloons.

Bang!.......

The black tongue retracted with lightning speed, and the mother and daughter, who had lost their balance, immediately fell down, crashing heavily onto the deck with a thud.

"The 'fruit' of hope, born from despair, is indeed sweet..."

hiss....!

The figure that had pierced through the mother and daughter with its tongue licked its lips, its eyes fixed meaningfully on the location of Roy and Saen:

"You all agree, right?"

Roy's pupils contracted slightly, but he didn't reply. Saen also remained silent...

"Hmm, it seems you don't quite agree."

The figure with Bolt's face tilted his head and said somewhat awkwardly:

"You know, I've restrained myself for so long because of these top-quality ingredients... If you can't cook something that tastes even better than them..."
