The Mysterious Card Maker: Starting with Zhang Jiao's Deification

Chapter 21 Materials Arrived, Crafting Area Card

"Brother Fan, you're here! I thought you weren't coming."

"Why didn't you come?" Lin Fan slumped into his chair as soon as he got to his workstation. He could only take a break now so he would have the energy to make cards later.

"Why? Yesterday, Miss Qin personally asked you to make cards, and you went through a flurry of work in the card-making room, even producing a purple card. Didn't that slap the faces of those card makers?"

"Watch your words!" Lin Fan rubbed his temples, then continued, "How do you know what happened in the card-making room?"

"It's all over the company!" Zhou Chen's expression was exaggerated, like he was telling a story.

"The bald supervisor looked ashen-faced today. Master Qian hasn't come to work yet; I heard he's fallen ill from anger. You're now... "

He gave a thumbs-up and solemnly said, "A legendary figure."

Lin Fan glanced at him, said nothing, and closed his eyes to continue resting.

Zhou Chen waited a few seconds, and seeing that he didn't respond, he moved closer.

"Hey Fan, tell me the inside scoop, how did you make that purple card? What materials did you use? Let me take a look, maybe I can get some inspiration and become the next you!"

You wouldn't understand even if I told you.

Zhou Chen retorted, "How could I not understand? I'm a legitimate card maker, okay? Although I'm still an intern..."

His voice trailed off, and seeing Lin Fan's exhausted appearance, he retreated to his workstation to continue eating his steamed bun.

Lin Fan lay on the table, but his mind was not idle. He went through the production process again. If these things were ruined, the money would be a small matter, but the blank domain card would be wasted. That was something that money could not necessarily buy.

The delivery tracking shows it's already being sent and should arrive this afternoon. He needs to use this time to get his energy ready so he can finish making it today.

As I pondered, my eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and my consciousness began to blur.

Around 4 p.m., Lin Fan, who was taking a "nap" on the table, was woken up by his phone vibrating.

"Hey, Lin Fan, your cards have arrived. Come out and sign for them."

"Coming, coming." Lin Fan rubbed his eyes, sat up straight, grabbed his employee badge from the table, and walked out.

Zhou Chen, who was scrolling through videos on his phone, was startled by his commotion and almost dropped his phone: "What's wrong? What's wrong?"

"The package has arrived!"

"The package's here, what's all the excitement about?" Zhou Chen seemed to remember something and followed him out: "Brother Fan, is it your new card that arrived?"

Lin Fan ignored him and strode towards the front desk, with Zhou Chen following behind, constantly asking, "What card? Why the rush? Is it the Blue Domain or the Green Domain card?"

After verifying the employee ID and ID card and going through a series of authentication procedures, the deliveryman handed the package to Lin Fan.

"Brother Fan, I can handle this little thing."

Zhou Chen quickly stepped forward and took the package from Lin Fan. Seeing the name of the card shop printed on it, he confirmed his suspicions. "You're buying these to make cards?"

"Um."

"Can I just watch from the sidelines? I promise I won't bother you." Zhou Chen held the express delivery box in his hand, determined not to let go until he agreed.

Lin Fan glanced at him, too lazy to waste any more words: "Fine, fine, fine."

As the two passed by the bald manager's office, Lin Fan turned his head and saw the manager sitting inside drinking tea. Their eyes met at that moment, and the manager's expression stiffened, forcing out an unnatural smile.

Lin Fan paused, turned around and knocked on the open door. "Supervisor, may I borrow the card-making room?"

The supervisor paused, glancing at Lin Fan and then at the cardboard box in Zhou Chen's arms behind him. He then put down his teacup, his tone conveying a forced politeness.

"Okay, nobody's using it right now anyway, but..." He paused, "If any problems arise from trainee card makers using the card-making room, we won't be responsible. You should know that, right?"

Lin Fan gave a knowing look and said, "I know."

This is simply because they're worried that yesterday's incident with Kaling going out of control will happen again, and they're rushing to shirk all responsibility.

"Sign this and you can go to the warehouse manager to get the keys." As he spoke, he took out a notice, which basically stated that losses caused during the card production process would be compensated at the price, but the company would not be responsible for any personal injury accidents.

Lin Fan didn't hesitate after reading it; he immediately signed it, turned around, and left.

"Brother Fan, when did we get this new rule? I had no idea," Zhou Chen said, looking completely bewildered.

"You probably didn't know that this was made just for me, otherwise why wouldn't it be announced in the group chat?"

"Brother Fan, what did you do yesterday? Are you in any danger while making those cards?" Zhou Chen's voice carried a hint of tension.

"Do you want to come along? If not, that's fine too." Lin Fan stopped, took the package from Zhou Chen's hand, and walked away on his own.

"Wait a minute, Brother Fan, I didn't say I wasn't going. I'll just stay away from you." She said, quickening her pace to catch up with Lin Fan.

Pushing open the door to the card-making room, I found that this room was quite different from the one I had seen yesterday. There were even card scraps left by the previous card maker on the workbench.

Lin Fan didn't care about any of that. He placed the cardboard box on the workbench, used his key to open the seal and the lid, and found the cards inside neatly stacked.

Each one was wrapped in foam and accompanied by a printed shipping label.

He pulled out the shipping order and placed the cards one by one on the workbench, checked them over, and confirmed that there were five categories of items, totaling 78,000.

As he was packing the box, he noticed something moving inside. While searching for the source of the sound, he saw a card casually wrapped in plastic film.

Lin Fan opened the plastic film and pulled out the contents to take a look.

It's a green-area-level "blank paper hat" card, with a small sticky note on it bearing a few words scrawled in ballpoint pen:

"Thank you for your patronage. Here's a complimentary gift. We wish you a smooth card production process!" A smiley face was drawn at the bottom of the message.

The order was for 78,000 yuan, and they even gave me a Green Domain Card as a gift.

"What a conscientious merchant," he muttered, putting the gift card into his pocket. He didn't need the card right now, but it was a good material card for the future person. Lin Fan had already made arrangements for what to do with the card.

Just then, Zhou Chen, who was in the cubicle, spoke through the loudspeaker: "Brother Fan, what kind of card are you preparing to make? Why do you need so many cards? It's not another purple card, is it?"

Lin Fan ignored him, took out the blank domain card from his pocket, and placed it in the center of the control panel.

Inside the cubicle, Zhou Chen was pressed against the glass window, his face almost touching the glass.

When he saw Lin Fan pull out the blank card, his eyes widened in surprise: "Holy crap, a domain card? Where did you get this, Brother Fan?"
