Chapter 179 Knowledge Makes You Hungry
Chapter 179 Knowledge Makes You Hungry
"That sentence is beautiful, but it lacks substance. Your first paragraph should tell the professor what your paper is about. For example, when a match turns into a needle, what students are most likely to overlook is the stability of the target's shape."
Hermione, who was sitting at another table reading a book, couldn't help but look up when she heard this.
She clearly wanted to find fault.
Kopni's words are very practical.
The student took the paper back and tried rewriting three sentences in the way he suggested, and the whole paragraph immediately flowed much better.
Roger whispered, "I understand. Stop pretending and speak like a human being."
Puni nodded.
"almost."
Hermione finally couldn't help but interject.
"But it can't be too colloquial either."
Puni looked at her.
"So you can sit down here and make up the fifth sheet of paper."
Hermione stared at him for a few seconds, and then actually walked over.
She picked up her quill and wrote on the fifth sheet of paper: "Points should be accurate, examples should be relevant, and don't misuse technical terms just to appear smart."
After she finished writing, she slammed the paper on the table.
"This must be posted."
Roger glanced at it.
"I feel like it's insulting me."
Hermione said, "If you're guilty, then that's it."
That evening, the Ravenclaw common room was unusually quiet, with the sound of turning pages filling the room. Everyone was gathered around a few sheets of paper correcting homework, and every now and then someone would argue over a single example. Professor Flitwick glanced at the door as he passed by, but didn't come in; he just smiled and left.
Puni sat by the fireplace drinking tea.
He doesn't like crowds, but he doesn't dislike this kind of crowd.
It was at least better than a group of people shoving parchment in front of him the next morning, begging for help.
The next afternoon, Puni went to the library.
As soon as he entered the corridor, he heard several students talking in front of him.
"Longbottom is really unlucky."
"You didn't see how he hopped all the way back; he almost crashed into the armor."
"Malfoy is so wicked!"
Puni stopped walking.
Leg-locking spell?
This doesn't seem like a big deal, but it fits Draco's state after returning to school.
Lucius had clearly trained him during the holidays, and Draco is now more eager to prove himself than ever before. The problem is that once he gets into the rush to prove himself, he sets his sights on weaker opponents.
Puni placed the book on the gargoyle base next to him.
Not long after, a familiar voice sounded from behind.
"I thought it was someone else, but it turns out to be a good student of Ravenclaw."
Draco walked over with Crabbe and Goyle.
Puni looked at him.
"Did you do the Longbottom thing?"
Draco chuckled.
"He's just timid and can't even walk steadily, is it my fault?"
"I thought that after training all summer, you would at least pick a decent opponent."
Draco's smile vanished.
"Are you trying to lecture me again?"
"You can understand it that way."
Draco raised his wand.
"Legs stiffen and he dies!"
The incantation was faster than last time.
Puni didn't dodge, but instead cast a protective spell in front of him. The light struck him, but was deflected, hitting the person at the very front.
The one in front of you is Gore.
Gao Er put his legs together and fell forward, crashing to the ground with a thud.
Crabbe paused for a moment.
Puni has already raised his staff.
"Eliminate your weapon."
Draco's wand flew into the air and was caught by Puni.
Crabbe tried to pounce, but Puni just twisted his wrist.
The leg-locking spell hit him.
Crabbe landed next to Gore, the two big guys piled on top of each other like two sacks blocking the middle of the corridor.
Puni looked at Draco.
"Should we continue now?"
Draco's face was pale, and his lips were pressed tightly together.
Give me back my wand.
"Apologize to Longbottom."
"Huh? You're dreaming!"
Puni twirled Draco's wand halfway around.
"Then go find Professor Snape and let him handle it. Do you think he'll ask me first why I was carrying your wand, or why you attacked your classmate with a spell in the hallway?"
Draco's expression turned even uglier.
He knew very well that Snape would protect Slytherin, but he wouldn't like him being foolish enough to leave evidence in the hallway.
"I will handle it."
"It's not about dealing with it, it's about apologizing."
Puni threw the wand back.
Draco caught it and whispered, "You'll regret this!"
"Want me to regret this? Then you'd better get in line."
Draco left with two henchmen who were still untied, looking quite disheveled.
Puni watched his retreating figure, but his brow remained furrowed.
Draco has become stronger.
But they also became bolder.
This is usually not a good thing.
In the Gryffindor common room, Neville's leg-binding curse had been lifted by Hermione.
Ron was so angry his face turned red, yelling that he would make Malfoy taste the same way, while Neville huddled in his armchair, holding the chocolate frog Harry had given him, barely even lifting his head.
He was just telling the truth.
Neville whispered.
"I'm certainly not like a Gryffindor."
"nonsense."
Harry sat down next to him.
"The fact that the Sorting Hat sorted you into the Sorting Hat means it knows more than Malfoy."
Ron nodded immediately.
"Furthermore, Malfoy's presence in Slytherin demonstrates that he is not qualified to judge others."
Hermione frowned, as if she wanted to say that such an attack by the academy was not good, but seeing that Neville was about to cry, she swallowed her words.
Neville disassembles the chocolate frog.
The chocolate frog hopped out and almost jumped into the fire, but Ron caught it with lightning speed.
Neville didn't have much of an appetite and just handed the picture to Harry.
"Do you want it?"
Harry took it.
It's Dumbledore again.
The weekend Quidditch match is coming soon.
Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff.
When the news broke, Wood nearly tore his training schedule to shreds.
It's not because of the opponent.
It's because of the referee.
Snape will blow the whistle in place of Mrs. Hodge.
The weather was already very bad the day before the competition.
Light snow fell from morning until afternoon, making the muddy field of the sports field wet and slippery.
Wood, however, seemed completely oblivious, dragging the team out for training before dawn.
As Puni and Captain Ravenclaw passed by, they saw George fall off his broom and roll around in the mud.
The captain looked at the field and couldn't help but laugh.
Puni asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"Wood's luck."
The captain was holding a broom.
"Guess who their referee will be in their next match?"
"Snape."
The captain's smile vanished instantly.
"Can you pretend you didn't guess?"
"cannot."
"You're such a boring person."
In the distance, Wood had just relayed the referee's message to his teammates.
George reacted the most; his broom tilted and fell directly into the mud.
Fred flew over to pull him up, almost getting grazed by the ball in the process.
Puni looked over there.
"Are they that afraid of Snape?"
The captain understood.
"Wood tripped on flat ground when he first heard about it."
Puni thought for a moment.
If Snape truly wanted to protect Harry at close range, then his efforts would likely go unappreciated.
In the days that followed, Quidditch became the most frequently discussed topic in the castle.
The Gryffindors talk about whether Harry can win every day.
Hufflepuff was also unconvinced, believing that Harry was just lucky last time and that Cedric might not necessarily lose in a real confrontation.
Ravenclaw students were the most enthusiastic onlookers, while the Eagle School students didn't take sides. They claimed to only focus on the skills, but when it came to placing bets, they were all incredibly eager.
Qiu originally just wanted to watch the game.
But she soon discovered that the discussions about Cedric and Harry in the Ravenclaw common room had gone completely off track.
Some people say that Harry's Nimbus 2000 is enough to crush first-year students.
Some say Cedric has a more stable flight rhythm and doesn't panic in chaotic situations.
Roger stood by the fireplace collecting Galleons, holding two parchments, one marked "Harry wins" and the other "Cedric wins."
Puni glanced at him as he passed by.
"Are you opening a trading session?"
Roger immediately hid the parchment behind his back.
"This is an academic prediction!"
What are the odds?
Roger paused for a moment.
"You cannot accuse Professor McGonagall."
"Let's see if you've been taking advantage of younger students."
No, I'm very fair.
A first-grade student next to him raised his hand.
"He just said that if I don't understand Quidditch, I can bet on both sides."
Puni looked at Roger.
Jie Qian laughed.
"I was offering a conservative strategy."
Qiu laughed so hard her shoulders shook.
Puni pulled out the two parchments, glanced at the name of Shangtu, and crossed out several obviously unreasonable items.
"Don't mislead younger students. If you want to bet, bet on who gets scolded to tears by Wood first."
Jay was stunned.
"Is there a market for this?"
"The Gryffindor team has a large internal market."
Roger began to think about it.
Qiu gently nudged Puni's arm.
"You even helped him improve it?"
"I'm reducing the number of victims."
"You speak as if you're insulting someone."
Puni didn't reply, but just looked out the window at the colorful field.
Gryffindor is training again.
Wood's voice could be heard even through the glass.
Harry swooped back and forth in mid-air, while Fred and Hodgson shielded him from the flying colors and shouted useless things at him.
Slogan.
Hufflepuff wasn't idle either; Cedric led his men in a neat formation, flying around the outer perimeter of the arena.
After watching for a while, Qiu said, "This should be quite a good show."
"It would be more entertaining if Snape weren't the referee."
"You also think he'll be biased?"
"He will make everyone think he's biased."
Puni said.
"As for what he really wants to do, that's another story."
Qiu sensed something else in his words, but didn't press him for details.
She knew that Penny had been looking at the Marauder's Map lately, and that he hadn't let go of Quirrell's matter.
He just wouldn't say, and she didn't want to press him for answers in the common room.
Before the evening tea party, Puni went to the kitchen.
Moti and Sensen are preparing snacks for Qiu.
The little elves are becoming increasingly interested in what Miss Zhang likes, and on the table are pumpkin pies, cream cakes, hot soup, and several pieces of cut fruit.
Murthy wanted to pile everything into one basket, but Sensen stopped him.
"Miss can't eat that much."
Murthy was so anxious that his ears drooped.
"Miss, you need to watch the game, so you should eat more!"
Puni went inside, and the two little elves turned around with him.
"Young Master!"
"No need to prepare too much."
Puni said.
"The match hasn't started yet; tonight is just a tea party."
Merti nodded immediately, then cautiously asked, "How much preparation can we make on the official start day? Won't you get hungry watching the lottery, Miss?"
"Sure, prepare more."
Sen Sen glanced at Mo Ti.
"But we can't pile it up so high that the young lady can't carry it."
The insult was recorded.
Puni took some snacks and told them not to go too far from Qiu these days.
When Moti heard that Qiu might be in danger, he was so anxious that he almost banged his head against the wall, but Sen Sen grabbed him.
"The young master ordered us to protect you, not for you to sacrifice yourself now!"
Merti sniffed.
"Morty knows."
Penny took the basket back to the Ravenclaw common room, where Fred and Howard had already mingled in.
The two somehow acquired a small teapot that could spray paper. Every time a cup of tea was poured, a different color would appear at the rim of the cup.
Jay held a cup of reddish-gold tea, his expression complex.
"How did I, a Ravenclaw, manage to drink Gryffindor?"
Fred was very serious.
"This shows you are brave at heart."
George chimed in.
"Or maybe the teapot hates you."
Hermione sat down beside them, clearly wanting to say that they shouldn't have brought the prank props into the Ravenclaw common room.
But as soon as she opened her mouth, the teapot poured her a cup of blue tea.
Hermione stared at the glass, pausing for a few seconds.
Pi Li burst out laughing.
"It says you're like Ravenclaw."
Hermione calmly picked up the cup.
"This shows that it has basic judgment."
Pi's laughter faltered.
Qiu sat down next to Puni and took the small cake he offered.
"You went to the kitchen just now?"
"Um."
"Has Merti prepared a lot again?"
"Sensen stopped me."
Qiu nodded.
"Sensen is more reliable than you."
Puni looked at her.
"What's wrong with me?"
Qiu thought about it.
"You always try to handle all the trouble by yourself."
Puni did not refute.
Because these words are insulting.
Later that same day, a small tea party was held in the Ravenclaw common room.
It was called a tea party, but it was really just a few people sitting around a table eating something and chatting about their holidays and the competition.
Fred and Hodge also sneaked in, carrying pies they had stolen from the kitchen.
They were very good at putting on an act when they came in.
Fred was holding a teacup, while George was carrying a thick book that he had borrowed from somewhere.
The two walked through the doorway one after the other, their faces saying, "We're just here to learn."
Ravenclaw's door knocker probably didn't bother arguing with them, and didn't say anything more after letting them in.
When Jay saw them, he first looked at the book titles.
""Introduction to Ancient Fu Rune"?"
Haozhi flipped the bend to the middle, and inside were two pies sandwiched between the two pieces of dough.
Knowledge makes people hungry.
Fred placed the teacup on the table.
"We are here to replenish our spiritual and practical nourishment."
Hermione stared at the curved book.
"You're using the 'wan' in 'Tuwanguan' (图弯馆) to sandwich pies?"
Haozhi glanced down and immediately took out the pie.
"It's gone now."
That's not the point.
Pi whispered from the side, "Actually, I think the pie looks alright."
Hermione turned her head.
Pi immediately picked up the cup.
"I'll drink tea."
Puni laid the Marauder's Map out on his lap, glancing at it every now and then.
"You're looking at the map again?"
Qiu sat down next to him and asked in a low voice.
"Habit."
"Is it a habit?"
Puni remained silent.
Qiu pushed a small piece of cake in front of him.
"Have something to eat."
While eating a pie, Pi said, "Didn't you guys almost hit Professor Quirrell?"
"Not almost."
Fred corrected.
"It's right in the middle."
George gestured.
"It hit the back of his head, which was wrapped up tightly."
Puni had just taken a sip of soup.
The next second, he almost choked.
Qiu Li handed him a handkerchief.
Fred and George leaned back together.
"Hello!"
"You almost sprayed us!"
Puni coughed twice and waved his hand.
He didn't do it on purpose.
He only imagined Voldemort hiding on the back of Quirrell's head, being hit by two Weasley snowballs, unable to react on the spot.
This painting is too unbearable.
Puni wiped the corner of his mouth, unable to suppress it.
Qiu looked at him.
"What are you laughing at?"
"It's nothing."
"Puni".
"It's nothing to be ashamed of."
Hermione frowned.
She couldn't understand why Puni was laughing like that; she just felt that his habit of having house-elves at his beck and call and keeping many things to himself was very capitalist.
Puni tapped the dirt on the table.
"dense."
The little sprite appeared with a snap.
"Young Master."
"The soup is very good, I'd like another serving."
Sen Sen nodded in agreement.
"Yes."
Hermione's brow furrowed even more after it disappeared.
"You brought your house-elves to school?"
Puni wiped the corner of his mouth.
"It handles some necessary tasks."
"It looks like a high contribution, but this doesn't mean there's a problem with the Buddhist system."
Hermione's words were very convincing.
Fred and Howard immediately quieted down, looking like they were ready to watch the show.
Puni looked at Hermione.
"You can continue to study this problem. When you come up with a syntax that they can accept and that can also improve their lives, I'm willing to listen."
Hermione was caught off guard.
She wanted to argue back, but found that Puni wasn't laughing at her.
This made it even harder for her to speak.
Puni did not continue the conversation.
On the map, Quirrell's name is listed near the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, but not closer to this location.
At least tonight is relatively peaceful.
Three days later, Ravenclaw finally had their first Defense Against the Dark Arts class after the holiday.
Before that, things were not peaceful in Quirrell's office either.
This office is not popular with students.
The windows are closed year-round, the cupboard is stuffed with bundles of garlic, and several strings of dried herbs hang on the table.
The students all said that Professor Quirrell learned the exorcism phrases during his travels in Florida, while others said that he was just too timid and wanted to wear every protective item he could buy.
Quirrell sat at the table, his fingers on the curved page, but he didn't read a single word.
A low voice came from the headscarf behind him.
"He knows."
Quirrell's throat tightened.
"Master, you mean Lestrange?"
"He discovered us."
Quirrell's shoulders twitched uncontrollably.
After the incident at the Forbidden Forest, the master never considered himself to have made a high contribution.
We didn't get the items on the fourth floor, and we also couldn't successfully retrieve the unicorn blood.
To make matters worse, the Lestrange kid was like a thorn in the side—small, but a nuisance.
"But...but he's just a student."
Quirrell regretted it as soon as he said it.
The voice of Hou Tu, who was wearing a headscarf, turned cold.
"student?"
Quirrell lowered his head.
That's not what I meant.
Voldemort did not continue his reprimand.
