Magic: My equipment slots have no restrictions

Chapter 13 First Encounter with the Magic Tide

The faint moonlight outside couldn't illuminate anything.

So when Victor heard the familiar voice outside the door, he felt a long-lost sense of dread.

Is Renn outside?

A question arose, but he couldn't tell whether it was the slow growth of his intelligence that was causing the problem, or whether his good mental state helped relieve the pressure.

He quickly regained consciousness.

"That kind of thing is absolutely impossible."

He immediately dismissed this absurd guess, then recalled Ryan's earlier warning:

At night, there is... a magical tide.

Are you in there?

The voice called out again from outside; it was Ryan's voice once more.

But Viktor had already regained his composure and sensed that something was amiss.

The voice trembled slightly and lacked variation.

Just like the rudimentary dubbing function in the dubbing software of the past, the human speech being imitated only had one tone.

Like a fake person.

"Whoosh... thud..."

As I pondered, the wind howled outside, and I could faintly hear the sound of something banging on the door.

But Viktor listened silently, his expression unchanged, and tucked the dagger back into his waistband.

"Victor, To."

The voice outside the door started calling again.

Victor ignored him and, relying on his memory, groped around at the objects around him, carefully moving towards his bed.

In my memory, my predecessor summarized three ironclad rules about the night:

No light, silence, magic ban.

By following these three steps, you can safely get through the night.

So, amidst the noise outside, Viktor simply groped around in silence.

Although this was his first time encountering the magical tide, the original owner of this body had experienced something that happened every few months.

This is a dangerous event that occurs naturally due to changes in the lunar phases.

When the magical tide descends

The colossal demon king, composed of silver moons, would generate tremendous fluctuations.

Therefore, magical chaos of varying degrees occurs in different parts of the world, leading to local magical disturbances and triggering various bizarre events.

For example, right now...

"Open the door!"

The chaotic magic began to mimic humans, luring the living out of the gate.

They even went so far as to attack houses.

The degree of human-likeness is already very high.

But they are ultimately not rational living beings.

Viktor muttered to himself as he touched the somewhat firm mattress, took off his shoes, and lay down.

"Bang, bang..."

Perhaps it was their own house, or perhaps it was a place further away that was hit; the noise, accompanied by shouts and the sound of the wind, made it difficult for people to calm down.

Of course, those are ordinary people.

Victor knew this very well.

He had not violated any taboos, so he did not take the riots outside, which posed no real threat, seriously.

He silently brought up his equipment inventory, preparing to examine the [eroded skull fragment].

This was a pre-arranged plan and would not be interrupted by a coincidental magical tide.

Perhaps someone will succumb to the pressure and walk out the door tonight, but that person won't be him.

As for Rowling and Ryan

They know their own situation best; they are all veterans who have experienced many magical tides, so they won't be unable to withstand it.

As Viktor thought this, his gaze swept over the various slots in his equipment inventory, and he smiled silently.

The reason I wanted to laugh wasn't because the equipment inventory was still visible in the dark.

Instead, among those dozen or so slots, fried dough rings of different sizes were neatly arranged, all of which had been transferred from the food eaten yesterday.

If he hadn't been in a hurry to get home, he might have already disposed of these things quietly.

"Although it's certainly not very gentlemanly to do this, please forgive me, Rowling."

As Viktor muttered to himself, his gaze fell on the first slot at the bottom of the equipment bar.

[Eroded skull fragment (green)]

The description and effects of this first piece of equipment that Viktor obtained remained unchanged after he left the Corruption Lands.

The only difference was that after he returned to Northwind Ridge, the vague connection with the corrupt land had become very thin.

However, if he wanted to,

They can still pinpoint the location of any corrupt place at any time.

Is this discovery good or bad?

It's probably a mixed bag.

"As long as the bone fragment remains, I will always be a part of the Corruption Lands, and I will have magical affinity wherever I go."

"In contrast, that place will always be watching this side, and may even be constantly attracting you."

After much deliberation, Victor decided to remove the bone fragment.

Once the thought took hold, he didn't hesitate any longer.

The charred skull fragment also disappeared from the equipment inventory.

Viktor, however, felt something in his hand and knew it was a bone fragment.

strangeness......

Viktor sensed it for a moment, and his brows gradually furrowed.

Why can I still sense the presence of the corrupted land even after the bone fragments have been removed?

Then, he remembered something.

That is, the "Child of Thorns" will take effect as long as he carries the "Corrupted Skull Fragment".

That makes sense.

The magic that had been surrounding him did indeed disappear as the equipment was removed.

As long as I stay away from this equipment, I can be immune to the gaze of the Corruption Land!

With that in mind, he placed the bone fragments on a nearby cabinet and silently waited for changes to occur in his body.

Time ticked by, and the crashing sounds outside continued.

"Victor, it's me, Rowling."

"..."

Viktor raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself that as expected of the Magic Tide, it was able to accurately pinpoint his weakness.

Unfortunately, he was not a child at all, but a professionally trained police officer, and nothing could easily shake his resolve.

He listened to the shouts outside until he suddenly felt a weight in his hand.

A familiar cool sensation crept up his arm from his palm, leaving him filled with doubt and unease.

"..."

He clenched his fists and, sure enough, touched the bone fragment. He raised his hand with a strange expression.

In the pitch black, before any bone fragments were visible, the panel appeared first.

[Eroded Skull Fragment (Green) "Bound"]

Oh.

Viktor smiled helplessly, silently put the bone fragment back into his equipment inventory, and took out two other pieces of equipment to check, only to find that they were both bound.

He then realized that items would automatically bind to the inventory once they were added to the equipment slot.

In this way, he was completely bound to the corrupt land.

But thinking about it carefully, there's nothing to regret.

If I hadn't encountered that bone fragment in the Land of Corruption, I would probably be dead by now.

"Being tied to someone isn't necessarily a bad thing."

He could already imagine the situation when he would compete with others for the treasure in the future.

Once those good items are in the equipment slot, they will automatically recognize their owner, almost as if they have a spirit.

As Viktor thought this, he felt the drowsiness he had previously suppressed return.

He lay down and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

......

The next day.

Victor was awakened by a knocking and shouting sound.

"Victor, what time is it? Still sleeping?"

"..."

Hearing Ryan's voice, he thought it was still night and opened his eyes to look.

The little house was brightly lit.

It's daytime.

"They're here."

He responded with a sound of agreement, then got up and put on his shoes.

As soon as I unlocked the door and opened it, I saw Ryan's anxious expression.

"Something's happened, Victor."

As soon as the other person saw him, they grabbed his arm and pulled him into the street.
