Chapter 71 Kill them all

"withdraw."

Valeria didn't look into the tomb again and quickly made a decision.

The team immediately turned around and ran along the corridor they had come from.

The heavy footsteps pounded on the stone ground, echoing back and forth against the stone walls on both sides, and the cold, damp air from the depths of the cemetery wafted up in waves.

But before they could get very far, the piercing screams of goblins suddenly erupted.

It didn't just come from one side.

Both in the front and back.

From the shadows ahead, a large group of green-skinned figures suddenly emerged; at a glance, there were at least fifty of them.

Behind the team, the sound of hurried, chaotic footsteps could be heard.

The strange cries from both sides echoed through the empty tomb passage, sending chills down one's spine.

"Zig, Ravenna, let's go. Lucy, Hill, stay close and don't fall behind."

Before she finished speaking, Valeria held her shield in front of her and charged straight at the group of goblins blocking her way.

The first few goblins roared and pounced, wildly swinging daggers and clubs, trying to hold her back.

Valeria didn't stop at all. She tilted her shield to deflect the incoming weapon, and then leaned forward.

The goblin at the front was thrown back and crashed heavily into the arms of its companions behind it, tearing a gap in the already crowded front row.

"The one on the right, that's a sling!"

As Zig cleaved through a goblin charging from the side, he warned the enemy.

Ravenna's arrow was faster than his words, almost simultaneously leaving the bowstring and piercing the throat of a goblin in the back row who was raising a sling.

The creature clutched its neck and fell backward, causing several others behind it to stumble and fall as well.

Zieg himself wasn't idle either.

With a swift stroke of his sword, he ripped open the throat of a goblin; with a backhand thrust, he knocked another goblin, which had just turned around, to the ground.

Valeria pressed forward, giving the goblins in front of her no chance to regroup.

She used the opening she had just created to push forward again, and she and her shield scattered the front row once more.

Ravenna, on the other hand, shot as she ran, and anyone who tried to come up from the side was the first to fall.

She followed the seam that Valeria and Zig had torn open, eliminating the most troublesome ones one by one.

This group of goblins came to block the road, and they dared to rush forward in a swarm because of their large numbers.

But as soon as the front row dispersed, those in the back row who could hold people back fell one after another, and the momentum that had been pushing forward collapsed instantly.

The few in the very center still tried to charge forward, but the ones on the sides started to scatter to the sides, and some were even trampled to the ground. In just a few seconds, they were no longer able to block the road.

"Walk!"

Lucy and Hill immediately slipped through the torn opening.

Sieg lagged behind, casually slashing down a goblin that was trying to pounce before retreating.

They hadn't killed all the goblins blocking their way, but their formation had completely crumbled, and they couldn't hold them off for the time being.

The team continued charging forward.

Valeria stopped abruptly when a narrow, low passageway appeared ahead, turned around, raised her shield, and once again placed her people at the front.

At this moment, the group of goblins that had just been scattered roared and regrouped, while the large group of pursuers coming from behind closed in even closer.

Both groups of monsters rushed towards them along the corridor.

Ravenna protected Lucy and Hill as they retreated deeper into the tunnel, while Sieg and Valeria lagged behind, stopping the fastest-chasing goblins as they retreated.

Nobody wants to kill them all anymore.

The passageway was narrow and low, and a large group of monsters were surging in from behind. All they had to do was fight and retreat, letting more goblins in.

Sieg killed a goblin that pounced on him with a single sword strike, then withdrew and retreated.

The venomous vines on the outer side of his head were lurking close to the stone roof, and through the view they provided, he could clearly see that most of the goblins behind him had already squeezed into the tunnel.

"Lucy, now's the time!"

Lucy stopped abruptly and raised the holy emblem in her hand. Sweat was already streaming down her temples, but she gritted her teeth and recited the prayer in its entirety.

"Merciful Earth Mother, please use the power of your earth to protect us who are so fragile."

A holy white light barrier rose up and blocked the goblin that was charging forward, instantly killing it.

The few in the front row couldn't stop themselves and crashed heavily into something, while those behind them, unaware of what had happened, continued to squeeze in.

In the blink of an eye, the first holy wall was filled with twisted and chaotic green monsters, and screams erupted everywhere.

Lucy's face paled, but she gripped the holy symbol in her hand even tighter.

The next moment, a second sacred wall rose up further back in the passageway, blocking the last section of the exit as well.

Once the two sacred walls were lowered, the middle section resembled a closed coffin.

The group of goblins stuck in front of the light barrier were stunned for a moment, then they rushed forward like madmen, trying to break through the light barrier blocking the adventurers' way.

Those behind quickly realized they had no way to retreat, and with a strange cry, they turned around and desperately tried to smash the sacred wall behind them.

But they couldn't break through either side, and the goblins in front and behind were still pushing and shoving each other, so the section sandwiched in the middle became a complete mess.

Valeria had already grabbed the poison bottle in her hand. Seeing that her escape route was cut off, she raised her hand and smashed it.

Snapped!Snapped!Snapped!

Several glass bottles exploded one after another in the densest part of the goblin population.

The venom and powder from the bottle were spilled everywhere, and a cloud of purple poisonous mist surged up as it landed, spreading outwards along the low, narrow passageway.

The goblins at the front inhaled it, covered their throats, bent over, and coughed violently.

Those trapped inside had nowhere to hide. As soon as the poisonous fog swept over, they screamed, retched, and scratched their necks and chests with their hands and feet.

However, the middle section was too narrow, and the front and back were blocked by the sacred wall, so they could only be trapped in the middle, and the more they struggled, the more chaotic it became.

Screams, coughs, and muffled thuds from pounding the sacred wall quickly mingled together, echoing wildly through the passageway.

The goblins who inhaled the poison gas first couldn't withstand it and collapsed to their knees one after another.

Those behind were still pushing forward desperately, which resulted in trampling their fallen kinsmen in front of them, causing them to stumble and fall.

The space between the two sacred walls seemed to be completely filled, becoming increasingly chaotic and crowded, making it impossible to escape.

The toxic fog is getting thicker and thicker.

The bitter, pungent smell quickly filled the entire passageway, and the swirling purple mist surged back and forth between the two sacred walls, gradually engulfing the struggling, twisting goblin figures inside, almost completely obscuring the middle section.

After a few more moments, even the screams began to fade. When the poisonous mist finally sank slowly, all that remained between the two sacred walls were convulsing, rolling corpses and a lingering, pungent stench.
