Douluo Continent: The Great Summoner Huo Yuhao

"Should we switch to a different soul beast?"

The teacher on duty found things getting interesting and looked at Huo Yuhao with great curiosity, wondering what this freshman was up to.

"Yes, two would be best. One should be a bird, not aggressive, and the other should ideally provide some control and disruption, preferably one that can carry it in flight. Do you have any recommendations, teacher?"

Huo Yuhao had already thought it through; the ability to share vision hadn't worked well on Zi Lingbei.

But it's a different story when it comes to birds.

Superior flying ability and vision, as well as air superiority.

"There are requirements for flight and control abilities, and then there are size requirements, right? Specifically, do you need a spirit beast to carry you?"

The teacher on duty sized up Huo Yuhao, realizing that it would be difficult to get a soul beast to carry him flying.

Training spirit beasts at the academy is not as easy as these students imagine.

"You don't need to carry me, just carry the other controlled soul beast. The better its flight ability, the better."

Huo Yuhao quickly added his requirements while nervously watching the teacher on duty.

Shrek Academy now claims to be raising soul beasts, but this is mainly for their meat source, sparring partners, testing, and research value.

It's not like he can get whatever he wants. Even if he puts a bounty on a rare soul beast and goes to the Star Dou Great Forest to catch it, it's basically a matter of luck.

"Pursuing flight ability? You have a flight-type martial soul, do you want a soul ring of the same type? If you ask me, even if the soul beast you want is here, the academy won't sell it to you easily. If you simply want to improve your flight ability, you might as well go to the Soul Guidance Department and have a few soul tools custom-made."

Thinking Huo Yuhao was there to acquire spirit rings, the teacher on duty, as an educator, offered her advice.

"Soul tool?" Right, how could I have forgotten about that?

Wait, no, he's not here to get spirit rings. The teacher has clearly misunderstood something.

However, there is nothing wrong with soul tools. If the soul beast you control is equipped with a set of soul tools, it may not be a bad way out.

"Thank you, teacher, but I'm not after the spirit rings. I won't hide it from you, my spirit is eyes, and I actually have a skill that shares the vision of spirit beasts, while the strength of another skill is highly tied to my vision. So…"

"Oh! I understand... You wait."

The teacher on duty pondered for about three minutes, then said he would wait for him for fifteen minutes before turning and leaving.

Before long, when the teacher on duty returned to the main hall of the breeding farm, he caught two soul beasts, one in each hand.

"The 300-year-old Ice Sky Falcon and the 200-year-old Heavenly Silkworm Spirit Spider, plus 10,000 gold soul coins, take them away..."

"Another ten thousand? We're five-thousand-year-old spirit-type soul beasts!"

Wang Dong exclaimed in surprise, his face full of "Teacher, don't bully me because I'm not well-educated."

Upon hearing Wang Dong's complaint, the teacher on duty chuckled and scolded him in an annoyed tone.

"Others wouldn't be able to buy them even if they wanted to! Putting aside the cost of raising them, the feed, and all sorts of taxes, these two soul beasts, as the first soul rings, are the best of the best and are not for sale."

Looking at the Ice Falcon and the Heavenly Silkworm Spider, the teacher on duty felt a real pang of heartache.

"I had already chosen two other beasts, and I could have given you a refund. But when I was registering the information for the Purple Spirit Wolf, that bastard Wang Yan came to submit a report. He's always messed with my precious soul beasts, and now he claims to know you and insists that the higher-ups match these two to you according to his requirements!"

"Can I try it first?" Huo Yuhao was immediately interested when he heard that it was Wang Yan's suggestion.

"Try it out of the question, you'd better not buy it." The teacher on duty complained, then began to introduce the two soul beasts.

"The Heavenly Silkworm Spider possesses both spiritual and ice attributes, as does the Ice Sky Falcon. This means that its maximum flight altitude and perception are far superior to those of ordinary flying soul beasts. And since you yourself are spiritual type, your limit is at least five thousand meters or more in the sky."

If Wang Yan hadn't been so fanatical, talking about pursuing the ultimate, and even alarming the Sea God Pavilion Master whose whereabouts were unknown but whose spiritual power was omnipresent, how could he have possibly packaged such treasures together and sold them?

"You mean... five thousand meters!?"

Wouldn't that be like having a cheat code when combined with the Boundary Vision?

However, how did the academy know that he had exactly 10,000 gold soul coins?

Never mind, that's not important.

Huo Yuhao was extremely excited. Let alone 10,000 gold soul coins emptying his savings, even if it were a million, ten million, or a hundred million, he would find a way to get it!

If all else fails, just sell Xiao Wu. Contract beasts can be summoned again. You'll regret missing this opportunity for the rest of your life!

"If I absolutely have to buy it, what would the price be?" After hesitating for a moment, Huo Yuhao asked another question.

"A good horse deserves a good saddle, and a fine sword is given to a hero. In reality, the academy is also waiting for a sufficiently outstanding spirit-type soul master. If we have to talk about value, it could be worthless or worth millions. After all, it's just a hundred-year-old soul beast, only suitable as the first soul ring... It's more valuable alive than dead."

A million gold coins...

It seems like you can buy soul bones now.

"Then... how much is a 3,000-year-old Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear worth?"

"You have a 3,000-year-old Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear?" The teacher on duty's expression changed instantly.

The Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear is so famous that it's rare to encounter even once every ten years, let alone three thousand years.

A Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear that's only been around for ten years must have parents who've been protecting it for over ten thousand years.

"Just out of curiosity, how could I possibly kill a thousand-year-old Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear, let alone capture it alive?"

Huo Yuhao scratched his head and smiled shyly.

"That's true... Hey kid, don't talk so big. But speaking of a three-thousand-year-old Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear, that's something you can only come across once in a lifetime. Not to mention the value of the spirit ring, people are willing to pay an astronomical price just for the external spirit bone."

The teacher on duty exclaimed that, in his knowledge, some forces seemed to have some kind of shady secret method that could increase the drop rate of soul bones.

"A soul bone attached to a gambling vessel..." Huo Yuhao mused, then a sudden pang of heart palpitation made his breathing rapid, and he felt like he couldn't breathe properly.

Noticing that Huo Yuhao was not in a good mood, Wang Dong quickly urged him to pay for the soul beast, said goodbye to the teacher on duty, and then dragged him away.

……

"What's wrong, Yuhao..." Wang Dong asked with a worried expression.

"Wang Dong, I feel like I've received too much favoritism and kindness. Before, I didn't understand the specific value of it; I only knew that I should repay kindness. I accepted the gold soul coins that the senior students gave me because I felt I could repay them in the future."

Huo Yuhao's expression was complicated; he found it difficult to accept those acts of kindness with equanimity.

"But how can I repay everyone..."

"Don't say that, Yuhao, don't say that."

Wang Dong gazed quietly at the boy before her.

"Like you told me before, kindness isn't something you do for the sake of getting something in return. People have feelings, you know. If someone treats you kindly, you should try your best to treat them kindly in return, cherish and respond to that kindness, and that's enough... Don't overthink it."
