The meal lasted for more than an hour. During the meal, Xu Zhen asked some questions, but they didn't discuss any details. It was as if he didn't care whether Xiaoqian was willing or not, and that he was just there to keep her company.

The six of them came in a noisy commotion and left chattering away.

Xiaoqian looked at the group with a hint of doubt and confusion, assuming that the six of them were just too idle today.

After their commotion, Xiaoqian no longer felt scared or terrified. She glanced at the time and realized it was almost evening, so she didn't go out anymore and instead took the phone to call her best friend.

Around 8 p.m., Xiaoqian was still on the phone with her best friend. Even though they didn't say anything, as long as the phone was on, they seemed to be able to sense each other's presence.

Snapped.

All the light sources and electrical appliances in the room lost power, plunging the room into silent darkness. Only the faint light from the cell phone illuminated Xiaoqian's terrified eyes.

"Xiaoqian, are you alright? Why are you so quiet all of a sudden?"

"Weiwei, the lights are off here, I'm a little scared..."

"It's okay, I'll stay with your best friend."

Xiaoqian turned on the flashlight on her phone and held it up in the room to check the power switch. But when she was very close to the door, she heard the door creak open.

"Who is it!"

The fear from the daytime resurfaced in her mind, and Xiaoqian's breathing became rapid involuntarily, her chest heaving.

"Xiaoqian, what's wrong?"

"Bestie, I heard someone pushing the door open at my door."

"Xiaoqian, calm down. Move the camera over there. If any strange people appear, I'll call the police immediately!"

"Thank you, best friend." Xiaoqian's voice trembled with tears.

Weiwei sighed on the other end of the phone and said, "You're just too flashy, that's why men always bother you."

Xiaoqian pretended not to hear and checked the situation at the door with her phone. She didn't find anyone there. She seemed to be going to check the power switch, but suddenly turned around and looked at the door again.

A strong gust of wind blew by, causing the door to open a crack again, making a creaking sound.

"It was just the wind acting up; it scared me to death."

Hearing that Xiaoqian was just overreacting, Weiwei said, "Best friend, you're not usually this timid. What's wrong with you today?"

"Stop talking, Weiwei. I feel really strange today. Sometimes I feel like I'm falling into a nightmare, and other times when I come to my senses, I feel like what happened before was not real."

"Bestie, what are you saying? I don't understand."

"If you didn't understand, that's fine. I don't want to talk about it. It's late at night, and I'm still a little scared."

Xiaoqian used her phone's flashlight to locate the power switch in the house. As she carefully reached out to turn it on, the door behind her was suddenly slammed open, with both doors being flung open and even the locks being knocked off.

"what!"

"Xiaoqian, what's wrong? Don't scare me!"

The two girls screamed simultaneously on opposite sides of the screen, fear spreading through their hearts, even though Weiwei wasn't actually there.

Xiaoqian covered her head and huddled on the ground. After a long while, only after confirming that no one had come in from outside did she dare to open her eyes and peek at the doorway.

On the other side of the screen, Weiwei swallowed hard. Xiaoqian couldn't bear to look at the scene, so she held her phone in front of her and asked Weiwei on the screen to check it for her.

"Nobody's here!" Vivi's voice was a little loud, clearly she was also scared.

Xiaoqian slowly stood up from the ground, walked to the door, and cautiously glanced outside.

A gust of wind blew by, carrying dust and debris, making it impossible for Xiaoqian to open her eyes.

She first held her phone out the door, but the phone's resolution was limited, and Weiwei could only see a patch of darkness captured by the camera. Something seemed to be moving in the darkness, but when Weiwei tried to make out the details, the darkness returned to calm.

"Still no one here. Do you live near the beach? Why is the wind so strong?"

Xiaoqian put the phone down from her mouth and said softly, "I don't know."

She didn't know why she was speaking so softly, as if speaking loudly would attract the eeriness of the darkness.

She pointed her phone at the door and saw that a small piece of the wooden board was still hanging in the doorway. A thought popped into her mind: It couldn't have been blown away by the wind! No matter how strong the wind was, it wouldn't have caused this situation!

She began to slowly back away, her free hand groping for something against the dark wall.

rustle...

Xiaoqian stopped what she was doing; she vaguely heard some noises coming from inside the house.

Holding her breath, Xiaoqian pointed her flashlight at her residence. The house was old, probably because it was relatively cheap. It occupied a considerable area, and she needed to check it from multiple angles to find out if anything was hidden inside.

rustle...

The faint sound continued, and Xiaoqian's hand holding the phone began to tremble.

On the other side of the screen, Weiwei also covered her eyes, peeking out only a small slit, both frightened and curious.

In the dark corner of the water tank, a dark shadow resembling a kitten appeared.

When Xiaoqian and Weiwei saw that it was just a tiny little guy, they could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"What? It's just a kitten, it scared me!"

Xiaoqian wanted to throw the kitten away, but when the flashlight fully illuminated the animal, she suddenly took a step back.

This is no kitten! It's clearly a big rat, its fur bristling and gray fur looking like it's hiding countless germs.

When Xiaoqian showed signs of fear, the big rat suddenly ran towards her location, seemingly indicating that animals can sense human fear and in turn intimidate humans.

"what!"

Xiaoqian grabbed a broom from somewhere, closed her eyes, and waved her hands and feet incessantly. She wasn't sure if this would drive away the big rat, but her instinct of fear made her do it.

"Xiaoqian, stop hitting it! You've practically turned the rat into mincemeat! It's disgusting!"

Hearing Weiwei's reminder, Xiaoqian opened her eyes again and saw the bloodstains on the broom and the piece of rotten flesh not far away.

A feeling of nausea welled up from the bottom of her heart. She might not have vomited because of fear, but simply because she found the dead rat disgusting.

She bent down and placed her hand on her chest to catch her breath when she suddenly noticed a hand at her feet. It was not only long and slender but also appeared deathly pale in her peripheral vision.

"what!"

Xiaoqian screamed again, as if she had stepped on something, but at this moment she didn't care what was under her feet, she just ran towards the door, even throwing her phone aside.

Liu Zhongze was suddenly stepped on and almost couldn't continue his act. After checking his arm and finding that there was nothing seriously wrong, he turned around and was about to scare Xiaoqian again.

He saw Xiaoqian's phone; the girl on the other end was anxiously asking about her situation.

Liu Zhongze, dressed as a dead man, suddenly appeared on the screen. The girl froze for a few seconds, then let out a scream!
